GREY FLY
"The eye sees what the Grey allows."
Overview
The Grey Fly is a rumored entity or organism associated with the city of Greyman. Despite the lack of physical documentation, it is considered a cornerstone of local folklore, fear, and reverence. Descriptions vary, but nearly all accounts agree on one detail:
It chooses.
Appearance
Color: Greyish-silver, almost metallic in sheen.
Texture: Smooth, not hairy, unlike common flies.
Unsettlingly aesthetic, even called "beautiful" by some witnesses an impression at odds with its ominous function.
Origin
Unknown.
Believed by some to be extradimensional or a byproduct of the Greyman system's metaphysical infrastructure.
Some cults claim it is a fragment of Philemon Vasiliki's soul, sealed in insect form.
Behavior & Function
There are no confirmed sightings—only secondhand testimonies from those said to be "Touched by Grey."
The fly allegedly lands on the eye of a chosen individual, then liquefies, entering through the pupil as a black ink-like substance.
Both eyes turn completely black for approximately 6 seconds.
Upon returning to normal, the individual is considered "Gifted."
Known Gifts (unconfirmed)
The following enhancements have been reported:
Instinctual lie detection
Premonition-based dreams
Intuition of danger at exact locations/times
Emotional manipulation resistance
Hyper-awareness during moral decisions
These are not powers, but subtle mental tools, often described as "insights stitched into the soul."
The Price
"A gift from the Fly is a curse in disguise."
All recipients reportedly suffer one universal side-effect:
They experience no happiness in the final year of their life.
This includes emotional numbness, the death of loved ones, or existential despair. This period is dubbed "The Faded Year."
Reproduction & Weakness
Unknown.
No specimen has been caught, examined, or proven to exist.
Some theories suggest there is only one Grey Fly in existence, and it is not bound by space or time.
