Charles swallowed.
He sighed, trying to calm himself.
"Hailey…"
"I want you to do something for me, and in return, I'll convince Killian to partner with your company," she cut him off.
Charles squinted at her, clearly not believing a word that came out of her mouth.
A partnership with the Valtieris was something Diane had once told him they could secure from Hailey—if they played their cards right. Butter her up. Pretend to care. Pretend to love her. It was all manipulation. So it was shocking that Hailey had come out of her way to offer it on her own.
Still, Charles wasn't about to question good fortune. He just needed to be careful. Hailey looked different now. Not timid. Not soft. Not the girl he remembered.
Despite the disdain he carried for her, he was glad she'd married into wealth. With Kaira engaged to Blake and Hailey tied to Killian, the family's alliances were solid. That meant one thing: money would keep flowing in through connections and deals.
