Chapter 4 - Settling Scores (1)

Hong Wei walked out of the room his mother was in, with a light heart.

With her healed, everything felt like it was going to go smoothly, and he was happy.

He stood there silently for a moment, letting it all sink in further, before he looked at Shan Mei and Seren, and said, "We are going out, but…"

Hong Wei suddenly paused as he looked at Seren, then asked, "You can watch out for my safety from a distance, right?"

"Yes," she replied.

And getting the answer he wanted, Hong Wei, with the company of Shan Mei and Seren, went out.

As soon as he stepped out of the house, Seren actually disappeared. But he knew she was still around somewhere, it's just that he couldn't see her. And so, he didn't mind that.

He would have actually loved to go for an outing with the company of two beautiful women, but unlike Shan Mei, who, despite being extraordinary, still had the eastern style, Seren's western clothes were not the same… and she was just too beautiful for this shabby town.

She was simply too eye-catching, and it was best not to draw too much attention to himself for now.

"Isn't that Hong Wei?"

"He's still alive?"

"But who is that woman with him? She's clearly not from the town!"

"Wang Ergou was already picking on him. With her by his side, wouldn't that seal his fate?"

Hearing the murmurs of the townspeople who saw him, Hong Wei didn't bother with any of them.

They were thinking that Wang Ergou wouldn't let him get away if he saw him… but they were wrong.

Hong Wei himself had no intention of letting Wang Ergou get away.

The second thing on his list, after healing his mother, was settling the account with him, after all.

Hong Wei was born to the most beautiful woman in town and an above-average hunter.

Life was good… until one day, his father, who had gone into the forest to hunt like usual, returned heavily injured.

And before long, he took his last breath, leaving behind a four-year-old son and a young wife who was barely twenty.

That was when life became hard.

His mother had to work and take care of the child that was him.

But could that have been easy?

Naturally, no!

The problem was that she was just too beautiful and still so young. So how could the people in the town leave her alone?

No, not just her. Even his appearance, which could even be said to be more beautiful than his mother's, made things worse for them.

And so, they were harassed constantly.

Luckily, there was a friend of his father who, in the end, went out of his way and helped them a little… making the situation more endurable.

But that was it. The situation was still bad, and he was still bullied.

His beautiful appearance seemed to ignite jealousy and envy from other boys around his age, and he was forced to endure their bullying.

Asking his mother for help?

That was naturally not something he could do, especially when he saw the state she was in.

Because if he was being bullied by the boys, then his mother was also being bullied by the other housewives.

Life still continued on, despite their circumstances. And when he grew a little older, his predecessor at that time, wanting to take some burden off his mother, decided to take over the job of his father—

To become a hunter and venture into the wilds.

But how could his mother, who had lost her husband to that very life, allow it?

She didn't allow him to become a hunter, and he was forced to attend a small school, with his mother's hope that he would learn how to read and write, and eventually become a scholar.

He was stubborn and didn't want to accept that.

And that's when, suddenly, an immortal… no, a cultivator, passed by their town.

When the cultivator saw him, and how he was clearly different from the other townspeople, he actually wanted to take him as a disciple.

And his predecessor thought that he was finally going to escape from this suffocating, miserable place…

But in the end, it turned out that he didn't have any talent for cultivation.

Life after that, when the cultivator left in disappointment, became even harder.

But he still held on.

…That is, until his mother collapsed.

His predecessor at that time was in despair, and so, he even went to that friend of his father, hoping he could help.

But how could something so convenient exist in this world?

The man had already helped them once, after all. And he couldn't do more.

That's why his predecessor, unable to gather enough money or find any way to help his mother, in the end, returned back to the first profession he was never allowed to take… hunter.

He ventured into the wild forest, using what little knowledge he had to gather herbs and set some traps, hoping he could catch a wild animal.

… And in the end, he was lucky. After two weeks, he had actually hunted a boar.

He dragged the huge body of the boar to the town, intending to sell it and finally call the physician to come see his mother.

And that's when Wang Ergou entered the picture once again.

He had done nothing wrong, but even an innocent man is deemed guilty when he holds wealth.

And so, before he could even sell the boar, Wang Ergou, who had been eyeing him for days, finally lost all restraint.

His predecessor ended up receiving a heavy beating.

A beating that left him with just enough time to barely return home… only to die in the end.

And that's when he transmigrated.

Hong Wei intended to settle this account.

And take out not just Wang Ergou, but all of the Black Dog Gang, who stood behind him too.
