Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"Give it a rest, uncle. It's been almost four years since both your brother and niece died; no one is going to question us. Not now," David Davenhart said to his beloved uncle, Charles Davenhart. After all these years, he didn't want him to get worked up over things that had ended decades ago. They had never shared much of a relationship until the moment Charles called him to ask a favor from him and his brother. An offer that benefited them well enough.

"I guess it's over," Charles said in a tone as if he was trying to convince himself rather than David. Maybe it was guilt that was haunting him, but he couldn't deny that it wasn't anything. The feeling, whatever it was, wasn't leaving him.

Their family fled overseas. Eleanor Foster didn't even ask for the shares she deserved. And his son isn't coming either. You have absolutely nothing to worry about," David said in a tone to convince him. But it was true indeed. From the moment they realized their daughter was missing, they went abroad, tired of living here. They aren't coming now after all. And the dead can't rise either. It was pointless to worry.

"Well, are you really sure she is dead?" His concern had always remained over these years, but it suddenly seemed to intensify all of a sudden. As if somehow she was going to return. Even if he knew it wasn't possible.

"Of course, we made sure of it, didn't we? Now stop worrying for no reason. Even if they are up to something, trust me, we will be able to handle it pretty smoothly," David said with confidence. After all, doing something they had once done wouldn't be that hard now.

"I guess there is really no reason to get worried," Charles finalized and hoped that his view wouldn't change about it. He tried to convince himself that everything was indeed truly over. He wasn't a coward who would cower after all. He guessed that it wouldn't matter after all.

He had done so much to obtain all this, and he enjoyed it. So much effort to obtain what truly belonged to him. He wouldn't just give it all up, no matter what. He had gone to extreme lengths for it. He wasn't afraid to continue if needed.

"Now you are talking, uncle., So, how are things going for you, uncle?" David questioned. He wanted to distract himself and his uncle from this topic. The fear that had remained in his uncle's mind somehow seemed to spread into his mind, too. He wanted to take his mind off it.

"Great, the whole of Davenhart Corporation belongs to me now, and the income is great. My life is luxurious. It's nice to finally enjoy what is mine," Charles said.

"Good for you, then. I'm leaving," David said. It had been a while since he had been here. It was now time to end his visit.

"Hmm."

David and Mark Davenhart had helped him obtain what he deserved.

They were in Charles's new mansion. It hadn't been that long since he bought it. He was now living here with his wife and son and several maids to take care of their every need. From the moment they got what they craved, they didn't even bother to limit their luxury.

"What were you guys talking about?" Agatha Black, who was the wife of Charles, asked.

"I was just concerned about them returning, he was trying to soothe me," he said. His wife knew about everything that happened in his life.

"Your worry is irrelevant. Eleanor would never return because she is the daughter of the Mo family. She has too much pride to return to a circle where she is being bitched about," Agatha had never liked Eleanor. When her husband planned to take over everything, even if the riches attracted her, the fact that Eleanor would suffer the most made her help them. When she left overseas, she was more than happy after it.

"You are right. I'm feeling great now. How is everything going for you?" No matter what, Charles loved his wife.

"Great, how is business going for you? Hope things aren't going bad," Agatha asked. They got the corporation when it was functioning at its best. They didn't even have to put much effort into maintaining it.

"Well, nothing much. Eleanor already made the business perfect, just have to maintain it. Never knew that someone could plan things so meticulously," Charles said. After all, he couldn't deny that her skills were simple. It was her talent alone that still kept them running.

"I guess so." Agatha didn't appreciate it when her husband talked highly about Eleanor.

"Now all that is left is for our son to take over. I want him to be one of the top CEOs. Then maybe we could have relationships with some influential families. We would be unstoppable then," Charles said.

But Agatha just hummed in reply. She knew about her son, and he wasn't perfect. To add to it, he loved to just spend rather than earn anything at all. The only thing that wouldn't go according to her husband's plan would be their son. They had sacrificed so much that he could have a proper life. He didn't care about anything but himself. He wouldn't even bother to take care of them when the time comes. He was one of her main concerns. Things wouldn't be as easy as her husband predicted — that was one thing she was sure of. After all, things can't go just like a man's plans.

But she prayed that some sense would be instilled in her child's mind. But her younger son gave her peace. He just shared a mind like theirs. They didn't have to worry much about him.

They could easily make him the CEO, and he would even be able to attract so many young ladies. He was already shining in the film industry. He was, after all, one of the best actors and supermodels. He was really the opposite of his brother. And yet Agatha couldn't just forget about her elder son. Only time would tell what would happen. She knew her younger son would go to extreme ends to obtain what he wanted. And it was obvious that he wanted that position and all the riches despite his popularity.

They had raised the elder one to inherit and the younger one to create influence, but things had definitely changed now. It seemed that they won't be able to handle what was going to happen. And the last thing she wanted was an internal clash between her children.
