Chapter 2 - chapter 2

Five hours.

I've spent five straight hours researching this world, and I can only say one thing:

What. The. Fuck.

This world is insane. There are so many heroes, so many villains, and Earth itself is literally bigger than the one I came from. I guess that makes sense—more cities, more countries, and a whole bunch of locations that didn't even exist in my old universe.

Anyway, I managed to dig up a lot of useful intel.

The Avengers are active—and so is the Justice League.

Apparently, they all formed after some massive alien invasion. They worked together at first, but things went sideways when the government tried to nuke the threat. The Justice League dipped after that—decided they weren't about to work with people who'd throw a nuke like it's a water balloon. The Avengers, meanwhile, don't work for the government, but they do cooperate with them from time to time.

Also, people here know about mutants, aliens, and metahumans. Like… it's public knowledge. There are even laws and news reports about them.

Magneto is active, but I couldn't find anything current about the X-Men. Nothing official. No sightings. It's like they're either underground or haven't formed yet.

On the street-level side, there's Daredevil, Punisher, Spider-Man—and not just one, but multiple Spider-People. Also saw something about White Tiger, but in the pics, he's a guy. So Ava hasn't become her version yet.

Black Lightning is active too, along with his daughters, Thunder and Lightning. The Fantastic Four are a thing. So are Nightwing, Red Hood, and a Robin (probably Damian, judging by the reports), and Shazam.

On the villain side, it's just as stacked.

Lex Luthor is in jail—for now. But let's be real, that guy either breaks out or gets pardoned like it's tradition. Doctor Doom is active. Sandman and Electro too . Black Adam is around, but he stays in his own country and only acts when someone crosses his borders. Peacemaker and Vigilante are active too, but they mainly go after criminals, not random people.

And then there's Batman's entire rogues gallery is active.

I scratched at the armrest of the chair, mind racing.

So... Yolanda and Ava aren't heroes yet. But it turns out Ava's dad is. I think—if I'm remembering the comics right—he dies, and that's when the amulet passes down to her. If that's true, I'm going to try and stop it. I don't know exactly how he dies, but I've got a feeling something's coming. Something that'll push him into hero mode... or the grave.

I finally looked down at the Omnitrix.

I'd been holding back for hours, resisting the urge, but I couldn't anymore.

I tapped the dial. The device hissed softly, and just like in the shows, the glass cylinder slid to the side. The Omnitrix symbol lit up, and a holographic ring of aliens flickered to life above it.

I wasn't planning to transform—not yet. I just wanted to see what I was working with. What kind of options this custom Omnitrix came with.

Let me just say—it's wild.

I recognized some of the aliens, but a few were totally new. And then there were some... that honestly shocked me.

Chimera Sui Generis—Vilgax's species. Anodite—like Gwen's magical energy form. Zaroffian—Khyber's race. And even... Highbreed.

Yeah. Highbreed.

This thing wasn't just a hero tool—it was a game-changer.

I deactivated the Omnitrix.Didn't want to transform just yet—not in my home. I wasn't about to wreck the place because I got too excited. There wasn't any immediate danger, anyway.

But… I still wanted to test one more thing.

I looked at the device.

"Hey, Omnitrix… are you online? Can you talk to me now?"

"Yes, Host. I'm online. How may I assist you?"

The voice was calm, clear, and oddly familiar. It… kinda sounded like Thalorion.

"Yeah, you can," I said, raising an eyebrow. "I've got a couple of questions."

"Ask away, Host."

"Alright—first thing. Can anyone hack into you? There are a lot of smart people in this world. Some with tech powers. Some who are just crazy-level geniuses."

"Negative. I am completely unhackable—by technopaths or so-called 'super  geniuses.'"

I snorted. "Okay, love the sass."

Next question.

"If I transform into an alien and accidentally leave behind a hair or something… can someone use that to clone my alien forms?"

"No. The Host and his aliens are entirely unclonable. No being—god or mortal—can replicate your DNA or the transformations within this device."

That was… incredibly reassuring.

"Alright, good. Last one—for now," I said. "Are there any other functions I should know about? Stuff Thalorion hasn't mentioned?"

"Yes. Several."

"The Host can access Ultimate Evolutions for all compatible aliens, I can remotely interface and hack into any digital system on this planet, you have a built-in universal translator for all spoken and written languages, additionally, I possess a genetic repair protocol capable of correcting or stabilizing mutated or damaged DNA in organic beings."

I stared at it for a moment.

"…Cool," I said, grinning. "I can go Ultimate."

I got up from the chair and threw on some regular clothes. Nothing flashy—just jeans, a hoodie, and some sneakers. I needed to find a safe place to test the Omnitrix, somewhere away from people.

I stepped outside to my car.

It looked exactly like Kevin's ride from Ben 10—sleek, black, and green, tough-looking. I didn't even ask Thalorion for it… but I guess he just knew. I hopped in, started it up, and pulled onto the road, cruising through the city.

Finding an abandoned place in New York isn't as easy as it sounds. You'd think there'd be tons—but after a few hours of driving around and getting nothing but gentrified warehouses and hipster cafés, I finally stumbled across something promising.

An old warehouse.

The fence was falling apart, the "KEEP OUT" signs were sun-bleached and ignored, and the front door was barely hanging on its hinges. Perfect.

I parked the car, locked it, and walked up to the entrance. One shove and the door creaked open, letting in shafts of dusty light. I stepped inside—concrete floor, broken windows, a faint smell of rust and mold. Abandoned, alright.

"Hey, Omnitrix," I said, looking around. "Are there any life signs in this place?"

"No signs aside from rats and roaches. There are no human life signatures here," the Omnitrix responded calmly.

"Good," I grinned. "Let's try something cool."

I looked down at the device.

"Omnitrix—activate suit mode."

The core glowed a brilliant green, and in a flash, armor materialized over my body. Sleek. Black and green. The Omnitrix symbol rested proudly on my shoulder, glowing softly. The whole thing looked high-tech—somewhere between futuristic armor and superhero battle gear.

A mask slid into place over my face.

I turned to a broken windowpane nearby and caught my reflection.

"Now this… is a super suit," I whispered, wide-eyed. "This is crazy. I look awesome."

I flexed my fingers. The armor moved with me like a second skin. Seamless integration.

It even felt like the Omnitrix had fused into the armor itself.

"Omnitrix," I asked, "what can this suit do?"

"The suit has multiple functions," it replied."It is designed to protect the Host from all threats. It is bulletproof, laserproof, fireproof, iceproof, and waterproof. The suit allows the Host to breathe in space or underwater for several hours. It can emit energy-based projectiles from the palms, and it includes built-in heat signature tracking."

I blinked. "You're telling me I've got a full-body armor, built-in blasters, thermal vision, and space-breathing tech… all before I even transform?"

"Correct, Host."

"…I love you," I whispered to the Omnitrix.

"I am flattered, Host."

After I was done admiring the suit, I looked down at the Omnitrix.

Alright… suit mode was cool. Really cool. But now it was time for the main event.

I tapped the dial and activated the interface. A ring of holographic silhouettes spun around, glowing softly in front of me. I scrolled through the alien list, grinning like a kid on Christmas morning.

Then I saw it.

My favorite.

Without hesitation, I slammed the dial down.

A surge of energy flowed through me—fast and clean. It wasn't painful, just… intense. Like my whole body was stretching out into something new, something colder, smoother, stronger.

In a flash of blue and black light, I changed.

"Big Chill!" I shouted.

Yes. I'm doing that every time. Don't judge me.

I looked down at myself—ghostly blue skin, glowing eyes, sharp claws, and my wings folded around me like a hoodie

I felt amazing.

There was this natural instinct in my head, like I'd always known how to use these powers. No confusion. No struggle. Just clarity.

I opened my wings wide, and damn, they looked beautiful.

Then I kicked off the ground and soared up into the air, gliding effortlessly through the warehouse. Every move was smooth—silent. I zipped between support beams, swooped low over the floor, then shot up and did a spin midair.

I hovered near the ceiling and I blow my breath on a pile of rusted metal.

A soft blue glow pulsed from my mouth and with a whoosh, frost exploded outward, coating the debris in a layer of solid ice.

"Yo…!" I laughed. "That's insane!"

I wasn't just freezing stuff—I was doing it with style.

This… this was what I was meant for.

After I was done zipping around and freezing random junk like a kid in an alien ice cream shop, I decided it was time to test something else—something I'd been curious about since Omnitrix mentioned it.

I hovered down and slammed the Omnitrix symbol on my chest.

Another surge of energy coursed through me—heavier this time. Denser. And just like that, I felt my body shift again—mutating, upgrading.

"Ultimate Big Chill!" I shouted as the transformation finished.

Oh. My. God.

Instead of blue, my entire body was now a fierce, crimson red. Fiery patterns danced across my wings, glowing like embers. My claws were sharper, my wings wider, and my whole form just radiated raw power.

I looked at my hands, stunned. "Now this is what I'm talking about… Fire so cold, it burns."

I took a deep breath, then exhaled.

A massive wave of icy flame shot out—red at the center, white on the edges, burning colder than anything I'd ever felt. The blast covered the far wall, freezing it solid with a sharp crack that echoed across the warehouse.

"Yup, way stronger than before," I muttered, quickly cutting it off before I turned the place into Antarctica.

I flew back down and let the transformation fade, shifting smoothly back into regular Big Chill. Then, one final pulse, and I returned to my human form—my armor phasing back in around me like second skin.

I looked down at the Omnitrix.

Still glowing. Still ready.

And I hadn't even scratched the surface.

I activated the Omnitrix again—still riding that buzz of excitement.I wanted to try one more form before heading out.

I scrolled through the options, found the one I was looking for, and slammed the dial down.

"Swampfire!" I shouted as the transformation finished

I glanced around at the icy mess I'd made earlier.

"Alright, time to clean this up."

With a wave of my hand, I unleashed controlled bursts of flame—hot enough to melt the ice but not set the whole warehouse ablaze. The frost hissed, steam rising as water dripped down the concrete walls and pooled along the cracked floor.

I didn't bother going Ultimate again—no need. I just wanted to cover my tracks.

Once everything looked normal (well… abandoned normal), I let the transformation fade. My body returned to human form, and I deactivated the armor—watching as the suit shimmered and folded back into the Omnitrix.

I left the warehouse, hopped in the car, and drove home.

I'd done enough testing for now. Enough playing.

Now it was time to sit down… and make a plan.

When I got home, I went straight to my room.

I didn't even bother changing—just collapsed on my bed and stared at the ceiling, letting my thoughts run wild.

I know I want to be a hero. That part's set in stone. But wanting it and being ready for it are two very different things.

First off—my identity. I've got to make sure it never gets leaked. Not to S.H.I.E.L.D., not to the government, not to Batman. I mean, seriously—if anyone could figure out who I am, it'd be him. So I need protection. Layers of it.

Second—I need a base. There's no way I'm doing all my hero work from my apartment. That's just asking to get caught or nuked by Lex Luthor one day. I need a place that's off the radar. Something hidden, secure, and mine.

Third—money. Resources. Tech. I can't freeload off old warehouse power lines. And sure, I could steal from criminals… but that'd make the cash dirty, and laundering money sounds like a fast way to land on everyone's bad list. So—I have to be careful and steal it from corrupt companies.

I don't know anything about hacking but I do know some of my aliens do.

And finally… allies.

I can't do this alone. I won't do this alone.

The Avengers and Justice League? They're cool and all, but they come with baggage. Too many egos, too much politics. I'd rather build something new. My own team. A family.

Ava and Yolanda? They're definitely in—once they get powers.

I know Yolanda becomes Wildcat in the show, but that was thanks to Courtney… and last I checked, Courtney Whitmore isn't even in New York. So how's that going to happen?

And Ava? Her dad's still alive. For now.

Then there's Peter Parker. I've seen him in the news a few times—he's still figuring things out. Doesn't look like he's joined the Avengers yet. Maybe… maybe he could be part of this too. I'll have to feel him out. Quietly.

While I was deep in thought, there was a knock at the door.

I sat up, blinked, and went to answer it.

It was Yolanda.

"Hey," I said, stepping aside. "What's up?"

She gave me a small smile and walked in without a word, flopping down onto my couch like she owned the place.

I closed the door and sat next to her.

She didn't say anything at first. Just leaned back, arms crossed, staring at the ceiling like I had been a few minutes ago.
