Chapter 28 - The Theory of Casual Cultivators

After they went in, they found that there were not many people inside.

At this time, a maid in a white dress came over to them and bowed to them. "Fellow Daoists, what do you need? Do you need to come to my place and I will introduce these items to you?"

Su Ziyan glanced at the maid, looked up and looked around, then turned to the maid and said, "I need to buy some pills. Do you have any high-quality Huanglong Pills or Guiqi Pills for sale?"

The maid smiled and said softly, "We have both Yellow Dragon Pills and Guiqi Pills here, and they are of excellent quality. I wonder how many you need?"

"Wait for you to bring it over to me and let me see if I am satisfied. If I am not satisfied, then we can only change to another place."

"Haha, fellow Daoist, if you can't find a satisfactory elixir here, I'm afraid you won't be able to find a elixir that satisfies you anywhere else," the maid said proudly.

Su Ziyan did not comment and remained skeptical about the maid's words.

After the maid finished speaking, she looked at Ding Hao and his sister and asked with a smile, "But I wonder what these two Taoist friends need, and what they like?"

Ding Hao heard the maid's words and laughed, "Not yet. Let's take a look here first to see if there is anything we need, and then tell our friends."

Upon hearing this, the maid said "OK", then turned around and called two other maids over to help accompany the Ding brothers and sisters.

She took Su Ziyan into a small room with a simple set of tables and chairs.

Simple restrictions were set up around the room to prevent anyone from eavesdropping or sending out spiritual sense to peek, so such simple restrictions were set up.

After the maid asked Su Ziyan to sit down, she asked him to wait here for a moment and then she went out.

Su Ziyan waited quietly inside, and soon the maid came back, but she was holding a storage bag in her hand.

She came to the table, facing the opening of the bag, and slapped the storage bag with her hand. A white light flashed, and five porcelain bottles suddenly appeared on the table.

The maid said to Su Ziyan, "Daoyou, these are the best Huanglong Pills and Guiqi Pills we have. Please take a look and see if they meet your requirements."

Su Ziyan nodded, picked up the porcelain bottles and began to examine them one by one, and found that the quality was acceptable.

Although they are still not as good as the bottles left by Ming Daozi in the storage bag, they are slightly better than those in Danding Pavilion before.

He put down the porcelain bottle and thought for a moment, "Well, that's good, but I don't know if there are any more. Take some out. I want five more bottles."

The maid was a little surprised, but didn't say much. She was not afraid that the man in front of her was here for fun. Otherwise, if she told the butler here, he would be in trouble.

After thinking about it, she turned around and went out to get five bottles of pills for Su Ziyan.

When the maid came back, she poured out again, and there were five more porcelain bottles on the table.

After Su Ziyan checked them one by one, he nodded and said, "I wonder how many spirit stones are needed for these pills?"

The maid replied, "A total of three thousand low-grade spirit stones."

Su Ziyan thought about it and nodded. He patted his storage bag and took out three thousand spirit stones. "Fellow Daoist, please count them and see if they are enough."

The maid was stunned when she saw Su Ziyan actually took out so many spirit stones, but she quickly returned to normal and didn't say anything.

He just released his spiritual sense and scanned it, and knew the number. Then he put the spirit stones away and asked Su Ziyan, "Do you need anything else?"

Su Ziyan thought about it and wanted to sell some of the magic weapons he didn't want. After weighing the pros and cons, he said, "I wonder if you have some magic weapons here. I have a few magic weapons I want to sell."

The maid looked at Su Ziyan in surprise, but still smiled and said, "Of course, I just don't know how many magic tools you want to sell. I can help you estimate the price."

Su Ziyan said, "Then can you keep the origin of these instruments a secret and not tell anyone my appearance?"

"Well, of course. If we tell others about the appearance of the person selling the items, no one will come to sell things to our business alliance anymore."

"Our Haoyin Business Alliance will still be able to do these things."

When Su Ziyan heard this, he nodded with relief, then slapped his storage bag, and suddenly nine low-grade magic weapons about an inch long appeared in his hand.

Some were taken from the Zhou family cultivators, and some were from the two cultivators who had robbed and killed him.

For various reasons, he couldn't take it out to fight the enemy, in case he was recognized, or seen by someone from the Zhou family and recognized him.

Then he can forget about staying here, and he won't have a peaceful life in the future, so it's better to sell these magic weapons, at least he can earn some spirit stones.

When the maid saw Su Ziyan taking out so many magical weapons, she couldn't help but look at Su Ziyan twice more, and then began to estimate the price of these magical weapons.

After she finished looking at these magic weapons, she finally looked at Su Ziyan and said, "Daoyou, these magic weapons are quite good, but because they are of low grade, I will give you 280 low-grade spirit stones for each magic weapon. I wonder if you are satisfied?"

Su Ziyan had no objection. After all, he had taken it himself, so the number of spirit stones didn't matter.

I can earn thousands of spirit stones for free, so why not do it?

The maid took out two thousand five hundred and twenty low-grade spirit stones from the spirit stones she had just received and gave them to Su Ziyan.

After Su Ziyan received the spirit stone, he bowed to the maid and walked out.

As soon as I got outside, I saw the Ding brothers and sisters still looking at something, asking the maid next to them from time to time, and the maid patiently answered them.

Su Ziyan walked behind them and asked, "What items do you two Taoist friends have your eyes on?"

Ding Ning turned around and saw Su Ziyan, but he shook his head and said, "No, we don't want to buy these things. We don't even like them."

Ding Hao shook his head and smiled helplessly. Su Ziyan knew what was going on, so he didn't say anything and just said hello and left.

After going outside, Ding Hao took Su Ziyan and the others to stroll around Sifang City, introducing the situation here to them while they were looking at the sights.

At night, they went back.

When Su Ziyan and them arrived at an inn, they were about to leave, but Ding Hao stopped him and said, "Friend Su, I don't know what to ask. I don't know if I should ask you."

Su Ziyan hummed and said, "Ask."

Ding Hao lowered his head and thought for a while, as if wondering how to start the conversation better, while Ding Ning looked at Su Ziyan without saying anything.

After a while, Ding Hao raised his head and looked at Su Ziyan. "Fellow Daoist Su, I wonder which sect you are from?"

When Su Ziyan heard what Ding Hao asked, he couldn't help but look at him. He didn't know why Ding Hao asked him whether he was a cultivator from the sect, but after thinking about it, he understood a little.

He did not hide his incompetence and said calmly, "I am not a disciple of any sect. I am just a casual cultivator."

Ding Hao was surprised. He did not expect Su Ziyan to be a casual cultivator. Judging from Su Ziyan's behavior in the past few days and the treasures he possessed, he should be a disciple of some sect or family.

But he never expected that Su Ziyan would say that he was a casual cultivator. This was completely different from his guess, but he did not look down on Su Ziyan because of this.

Because I heard from the elders in my family that although independent cultivators do not have backing, their combat power is very strong.

In order to obtain some cultivation resources, they often have to fight and kill each other, so if a casual cultivator reaches the Condensation Vortex Stage or above.

Then this casual cultivator must have gone through a lot of hardships before he could reach the Condensation Vortex Stage, and he also needed certain opportunities to have such a level of cultivation.

Unlike some cultivators from family sects, who have family and sect as their backing, the cultivation resources are distributed by the sect family to the disciples below.

Unlike independent cultivators, they don't have to go through dangers and hardships to get what they want, so the general combat effectiveness of independent cultivators is much stronger than that of cultivators from sects and families.

This is why the elders of their family let them go out to gain experience, because only in actual combat can the children of the family improve their combat experience.

Although doing so would increase the number of disciples who died in the clan, it was better than having a lot of skills but little experience in fighting and no courage to fight against the invaders when the clan was in danger.

So after careful consideration, the elders of their family decided that the children of the family must increase their practical experience.

When Ding Hao thought about this, he understood why Su Ziyan was able to kill the cultivator from the Zhou family who was at a higher level than him. It turned out that Su Ziyan was a casual cultivator.

Of course, not all independent cultivators can kill cultivators of the same level by jumping above their own level, and only the most powerful ones can do it.

Afterwards, Ding Hao said to Su Ziyan, "I didn't expect that Daoyou Su was a casual cultivator. This surprised me. Looking at Daoyou Su's wealth, I always thought that Daoyou was a disciple of a sect."

Ding Ning on the side was also a little surprised. She had always thought that Su Ziyan would be a disciple of the sect, otherwise he would not have come to the Haoyin Business Alliance to buy elixirs.

Su Ziyan had been observing Ding Hao's expression when he said that.

But Ding Hao did not show any expression of contempt or greed towards him, he just remained silent for a while, which made him feel much more at ease about the two siblings.

Su Ziyan laughed and said, "What's so surprising about this? I am just a casual cultivator, but Fellow Daoist Ding looks down on me."

"No, no, Fellow Daoist Su, please don't think like that. I still admire the independent cultivators. I've heard what the elders in my family said about independent cultivators, so I will definitely not look down on Fellow Daoist Su," said Ding Hao.

Su Ziyan heard this and asked curiously, "Oh, I am curious. I wonder how your elders describe the independent cultivators?"

Ding Hao told Su Ziyan the descriptions of independent cultivators that his elders had told him, with Ding Ning also interjecting a word or two from time to time.

Su Ziyan fell silent after hearing this, because Ding Hao and the others probably didn't understand the hardships of being a casual cultivator at all.

If it weren't for the great opportunity and abundant resources for cultivation, I would not have been able to practice like other casual cultivators, who would have to work so hard and improve their cultivation so slowly.

However, other independent cultivators have to pay the price of their lives to obtain the resources they need. They probably don't know this. They only know the good side of independent cultivators.

"Friend Su, from now on, I will call you Brother Ziyan, and you can call me Brother Ding. This will be a better way to address you."

Ding Hao spoke to Su Ziyan excitedly with a sincere expression.

Su Ziyan said yes without hesitation. He had always wanted to make friends with the two siblings of the Ding family, and now that he had got what he wanted, he would not have any objections.

Seeing that Su Ziyan agreed, Ding Hao invited Su Ziyan to visit the Ding family.

Seeing that there was no malice in Ding Hao's expression, Su Ziyan had no objection and planned to go to the Ding family to see what the places where these families were located were like.

They agreed to meet at the same place tomorrow morning, and then they separated and returned to their respective rented places.

Su Ziyan returned to the inn and thought about his interactions with Ding Hao and the others. Finding nothing unusual, he sat cross-legged on the bed and closed his eyes to rest.

The next day, they met at the agreed place, and then left Sifang City together and headed in one direction.
