Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

But ironically, not telling him only made him doubt her more.

The arguments started—slowly at first, then more frequently.

One day, his voice sharpened as he asked, "How can I believe that what you're saying is the truth?"

Somika sat there, stunned. She had always thought of Dhurba as someone who looked toward the future, not someone who fixated on the past. But here he was, questioning her, pressing for details that she didn't even know how to explain.

His words kept echoing in her mind:

"If you can't accept your past, how can you accept your future?"

And then, out of nowhere, he said something that shook her to the core.

"I've had casual sex with lots of women."

Somika froze.

She had always known she wouldn't find someone untouched by heartbreak, by past relationships, by mistakes. She never expected perfection.

But what shocked her wasn't his past.

It was the way he demanded honesty from her while casually dropping his own truths without a second thought.

Somika had always believed that the past was the past. What mattered was the future, the choices they made now.

But now, she wasn't so sure if he saw things the same way.

As the night stretched on, Somika insisted there was nothing significant in her past. Nothing that should matter.

But he didn't believe her.

His voice was calm, but his words carried weight.

"If you need time, I'll give you time," he said. "But I want you to reflect. Be open with me."

She didn't know what hurt more—his doubt or the distance it was already creating between them. 💔

And so, with tears unshed and words unspoken, they both turned away from each other.

No goodnight kisses. No warm embrace.

Just silence.

Each lying on their own side of the bed, staring into the darkness, lost in their own thoughts.

What would tomorrow bring?

Would things go back to normal?

Or had everything changed forever?

But no—the feelings didn't fade.

Despite the silence, despite the doubts, something still lingered between them. ❤️

They had just promised to stand by each other. To be each other's person. And that promise wasn't so easy to break.

Even through the uncertainty, there was a pull—an unspoken longing.

Maybe it wasn't just about the past.

Maybe it was about the future.

A future they both wanted to create. Together. 💫

As usual, her day began with anticipation—waiting for his call as he headed to the office. ☀️📞

The familiar hum of the engine, the soft clatter of parking, and then the pause before he spoke—that's how she knew he had arrived.

And just like that, his busy day would begin.

While he dived into work and responsibilities, she held onto these small moments—the ones that made her feel closer to him, even from a distance. ❤️

Dhurba was the kind of man every girl dreamed of—hardworking, responsible, and always willing to help. 💙

No matter what time it was, if his colleagues or friends needed him, he never hesitated to be there.

Somika remembered one evening when they were together, and his friend called.

"Can you pick us up from the airport?" his friend asked.

They had left their car at home to save money on parking, and since it wasn't too far from the airport, it seemed like a simple favor. But the flight was landing at midnight.

Somika watched as Dhurba, without a second thought, said yes.

That moment stayed with her. It wasn't just about the favor—it was about who he was.

A man who valued relationships, who believed in helping others, and who stood by the people he cared about. ❤️

And that made her heart trust him a little more.

As their late-night phone calls stretched longer, they were still in the phase of truly getting to know each other. 💬💖

They talked about their similarities and differences—the little things that made them who they were.

He was calm, reserved, and content in his own world. A man who believed in minding his own business and not overcomplicating things. Compassionate, but quiet.

She, on the other hand, was the opposite. Somika believed in being involved, helping people, and understanding what others thought. She thought a simple smile while talking could make someone's day. 😊✨

He observed; she engaged.

He kept to himself; she wanted to connect.

And yet, somehow, they found themselves drawn to each other. 💕
