The hunt for the next alpha had led them to a part of the forest that felt old and quiet, not to mention the creature they found was no joke. It was a massive deer. Its fur was patchy and dark, its body covered in the same pulsating black veins as the Great Root, and its antlers were not bone, they were jagged spikes of black, sharp-looking crystal.
Its eyes were pools of red light that radiated pure hate.
It was so much faster than the toad, a blur of dark fur and sharp antlers that moved through the trees like a ghost.
"It's too fast!" Serian yelled, ducking as one of those crystal antlers sliced through the air right where her head had been.
The thing was terrifyingly quick for its size.
Nox dodged another charge, his gauntlets glowing with red energy. "I noticed!" He lunged forward, swinging a heavy fist at the creature's flank.
