Uchiha Compound – Outer Gate
Outside the massive iron gate, Naruto stood with one hand on his hip and the other pointing like a tiny drill sergeant. He shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Hey! I, Uzumaki Naruto, son of the Fourth Hokage, officially challenge the Uchiha Clan! What's the matter—too scared to come out and fight me?!"
He sounded bold, but inside, his heart was pounding.
"Uh, Toji-nii, are you sure this is gonna work? This feels kinda stupid."
"It's fine," Toji replied calmly in his mind. "You march up to them, loud and proud. If you just walk in politely, they'll ignore you. This gets attention. Trust me."
Before Naruto could second-guess it further, someone finally showed up.
A tall man with sharp eyes and that signature Uchiha aura stepped out of the compound. It was Uchiha Fugaku.
Naruto held his ground, puffing his chest like Toji told him, and yelled again, "Hey! Who are you supposed to be? The Uchiha Clan ran out of real fighters so they sent you or something?"
Fugaku narrowed his eyes, clearly not amused.
He quickly noticed the ten ANBU nearby—lurking in trees and on rooftops like hungry hawks—but none of them moved. Their chakra flared briefly, then settled.
Strange.
Fugaku gave Naruto a curious smile. "So you want to challenge the Uchiha? What if I take you on myself?"
Right on cue, those ANBU flared up again—subtle, but enough for Fugaku to feel their unease. He smirked. So that's how it was.
Before he could press it, Naruto shouted again: "No way! I'm not here to fight some old guy! I wanna challenge someone my age! Or is your clan too chicken to send one huh?"
That earned some eyebrow raises from the guards inside the compound.
Fugaku let out a short breath, halfway between a sigh and a chuckle. "Alright then. But first—why exactly are you doing this?"
Naruto opened his mouth. "Because I wanna—" He froze, caught himself, then quickly changed tone. "None of your business! What, scared to let a kid fight me?!"
Fugaku stared at him for a long moment. That stumble wasn't missed by anyone. The guards behind him whispered among themselves. It was too clean to be coincidence.
This was a setup. Maybe not a hostile one, but a setup nonetheless.
The Hokage had sent Naruto here for a reason.
And Fugaku could guess at least part of it. A test? A probe? Or maybe an olive branch in disguise?
Didn't matter right now. The Jinchūriki was standing at his doorstep. Best not to mishandle this.
He turned to one of the guards and said quietly, "Bring Sasuke."
Moments later, a young Sasuke, no taller than Naruto, came running up with wide, curious eyes.
"Otousan?"
But Fugaku didn't look at him. He kept watching Naruto.
"That boy over there says he wants to challenge the Uchiha. He's about your age. Go fight him," he said flatly. "Don't disappoint me."
Sasuke looked across and locked eyes with Naruto.
The second their gazes met, Naruto grinned. There was no fear. No disgust. Just a kid ready for a fight. Exactly what Toji had told him would happen.
"Told ya," Toji's voice echoed smugly.
But Naruto quickly pushed down the excitement and remembered the strategy: be cocky. Be bold.
"Hey! You the one they sent? You don't look like much."
Sasuke scowled. "Bastard! You don't look like much either!"
The two boys stepped into the center of the courtyard, standing several feet apart as a small crowd formed to watch.
They each raised a hand and slapped palms in a clumsy Seal of Confrontation.
Then—without another word—they both lunged.
"AAAAHHH!"
"HYAAAA!"
For a split second, it looked intense.
Then they collided.
And it immediately became obvious that neither of them had formal taijutsu training.
after all, Toji hasn't started with teaching taijutsu, he was all about training the body first plus they were still little kids
Sasuke at least threw something resembling a straight punch. Naruto, meanwhile, spun his arms like propellers and charged like a wind-up toy. Somehow it worked—probably because no one knew what the hell to expect from him.
Sasuke blocked a punch, then took a hit to the ribs. Naruto got kicked in the shin, yelped, and responded by grabbing Sasuke's shirt and yelling, "Watch out—I'll bite you next bastard!"
"What?! That's cheating!"
"Nothing's cheating in war!"
"Stop spinning like that, idiot!"
But Naruto didn't stop. He ducked under a clumsy swing and tried to jab Sasuke's forehead.
Sasuke growled and retaliated with a shove, but Naruto held on like a barnacle, laughing wildly.
By now, the "fight" had devolved into something between a wrestling match and a schoolyard brawl. They rolled on the ground, tugged each other's sleeves, and yelled random threats like, "I'll poke your eyes!" and "Eat this elbow!"
The onlookers—including Fugaku—just stared, caught between shock and secondhand embarrassment.
One Uchiha murmured, "Is this… a shinobi duel or a daycare incident man?"
Eventually, Fugaku sighed and gave the signal to break it up.
He shouldn't have expected anything
Two clan members walked over, picked up the squirming boys like sacks of rice, and held them apart. Both were bruised, scuffed, and still shouting.
"I won!" Naruto declared, grinning despite his swollen cheek. "Barely, but a win's a win!"
"Like hell!" Sasuke thrashed in the guard's arms. "You cheated! I definitely had you!"
Neither of them remembered to do the Seal of Confrontaion fugaku showed them.
But somehow, they were both smiling.
And so… the first legendary battle between Naruto and Sasuke came to a chaotic, ridiculous end.
