She was the princess of the empire. The rightful mistress of the entire palace. Surrounded by praise and affection, always, without needing to lift a finger.
I was just a lowborn maid, chosen to serve in the palace because I was diligent and obedient. A job so far beyond my reach that even dreaming of it once felt blasphemous.
But that dream slowly turned into a nightmare, as I began to see the truth behind her silks and glittering jewels, the ugliness she hid behind the mask of royalty.
