Lin was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at the papers that had piled up on the desk in the corner. The rent bill that was waiting to be resolved, and the electricity bill that was more than she could afford. Her room was cramped and the furniture was minimal, but at least she felt safe here... until now.
Two weeks ago, her father had kicked her out of the house after a violent fight. The main reason was that she hadn't agreed to marry a rich fifties man, and he had decided that she could no longer live under his roof. As for her mother, she was always powerless to intervene, merely observing without being able to take any decisive action.
At first, she tried to stay with her friend at school, but she couldn't stay in one place for long without feeling like a burden to others. She had to take responsibility for herself now, and that meant paying rent, buying food, and finding a way to survive.
But money was tight, and she raised her hands to the sky in silence, as if to throw it all away.
The sound of a cell phone message interrupted her thoughts. It was from Leo, the rich student at her school. No one else but Leo would send her messages every now and then, trying to approach her indirectly, though she was always reluctant to respond.
Leo:
"I hear you're in trouble. Can we meet? I have a solution."
Lin felt something strange sweep over her. Leo was known for his pampering, his obscene wealth, and he had a charming personality that made everyone think he had it all. But between them, there was a huge gap, a gap that was difficult to cross.
She finally decided to reply to him:
Len:
"What do you mean?"
Leo:
"I'll tell you when we meet. I think I can help you."
Lin thought for a bit. She had two options: Either accept the help, and enter Liu's world of money and power, or continue to look for another way to solve her issue. But she was in a difficult situation, and she couldn't afford to say no.
She met him in the large park near her school, with trees surrounding the place, as if trying to hide the truth from the eyes of passersby.
Leo:
"You look different and pure, Lin. You don't act like other girls, and I don't think you're the type to accept free help."
Lin didn't answer. She felt something strange in her heart, as if something was wrong.
Leo:
"Money is not an issue for me. I'm willing to help you, but you should know that everything comes at a price."
Lin became nervous, her eyes shining with fear.
Lynn:
"What kind of price?"
Liu smiled vaguely, and said softly:
"Nothing big, I'll tell you tomorrow what it is.
But inside Lin, emotions were wrestling. He knew she was in a crisis, and it looked like he was going to take advantage of her weakness. But she couldn't back down now.
Would she accept the offer, or would she
find another way out?
