London, October 7th, 1989 - Friday Morning
Edmund woke up and glanced at the clock in his room.
"8:40, time to wake up" Edmund muttered in a sleepy voice.
Edmund washed his face and then brushed his teeth. Afterwards he went to the kitchen. "Hmm I have some bread left and there should be peanut butter or jam here somewhere." Edmund thought inwardly. Then he took the jam and bread and ate it with a cup of tea. Edmund went to the balcony and saw that the Sun was shining brightly. "Today shall be a good day then" Edmund thought while smiling.
Just then, his phone rang. Edmund quickly went and took the phone.
"Hello Edmund speaking"
"Hi Edmund, how have you been?"
"Oh Mom, I have been great, what about you?"
"It is good here as well Elaine is saying she misses you very much"
Elaine was Edmund's little sister. Edmund lived in London while they lived a bit far away and Edmund hadn't been home in a long time.
"I'll check if I can come back anytime soon. I have been a bit busy with work you know"
"Yeah yeah I know"
"Anyways send my regards to Elaine and Dad"
"Okay then bye"
"Bye"
Then Edmund hung the call. Edmund had nothing much to do today. Today was Friday and he didn't have any patients today as well. Edmund decided that he would go buy the new Mercedes' car he wanted to buy today. He flopped down onto the sofa. 'Hmn, what should I do today? Should I just rest?'
Ding-Dong
At this moment the bell rang and a voice called out from the outside "Hey Edmund it's me Luke open the door" Luke was Edmund's childhood friend. He was a detective of SDB ( Security Department of Britain ) the organisation that recruited Edmund yesterday.
Edmund stood up and opened the door. "Hey Luke how are you"
"I have been fine, I heard that you got a job in SDB?" Luke grinned as he stepped in. He was neatly dressed with a hazel over coat, a brown coat,a white shirt, brown pants and brown shoes. His hazel eyes shining with his attire.
"Acting like you aren't the person who recommended me" Edmund said in a sarcastic tone.
"Hehe, you will be extremely helpful to SDB, considering the amount of cases we solved together." Luke said as he sat on the nearby couch.
"Oh the cases you took credit for?" Edmund said as laughed.
"Hey it's because you said you didn't want any credits. Also they pay a lot your position is same as mine so I know"
"Well that's good I guess."
"I also heard that you solved a new case regarding some James Cooper guy?"
"Yeah it was just a trivial case nothing much"
"How did you catch him though?"
"Made him panic and under pressure. Then I calculated to find that the door opened was made to look like he escaped then found him inside."
"Calculating a door and saying that it was trivial. Only you can say that." Luke said in an amazed tone.
"Come on, it's not that great. Everybody can do it."
"How?"
"Patience and Practice. I practiced trying to do calculations in my head. And after a while my hard work paid off."
"You are literally making it look so easy."
"I read a book called True Human. Fantasy story but packed with meanings. To gain Wisdom the Protagonist sacrifices his youth which signifies to gain Wisdom we have to accumulate knowledge through experience which forms a qualitative change which gives us wisdom. The protagonist also gives his middle age for strength same principal. But when he only had old age and couldn't use wisdom and strength. He uses hope which doesn't require his old age. The message behind hope principal is that as long as you have hope you can do anything."
Luke blinked. "That's actually deep."
"Yeah hope doesn't rely on what you have lost, it's what you still have."
Then Edmund stood up.
"I'm heading out to buy a new car. Wanna come?"
"Sure. Got nothing else to do today anyway."
