Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Sin Value Skyrockets

For a moment, Roger's booming laughter echoed through the Visual Den Den Mushi, as though it reverberated across the entire world.

Everyone watching the execution was left in complete disbelief. Ordinary people struggle their whole lives just to survive.

To any living being, death brings deep fear. No matter how great or powerful someone might be, when faced with death, they might weep or go quiet—but none had ever met it with such fearless laughter.

"You want my treasure? You can have it! Look for it! I left it all... there!"

At that moment, Sengoku's furious roar erupted as well:

"Execute him!!"

In the next instant, Kevin's spear pierced Roger's heart from the side. Because just as Roger spoke those words, Kevin saw his Sin Value explode in his unique vision system.

Originally, it was just 1,635. But within seconds—it had soared to 125,000.

The executioner opposite him was still lifting his spear, while Roger's Sin Value continued to climb uncontrollably—but Kevin couldn't wait any longer.

In the blink of an eye, Roger's body—offering no resistance—was pierced clean through. Kevin, already positioned to Roger's left, plunged his spear straight into his heart.

Soul Capture!

"Whew…"

Suddenly, fierce winds swept across the land, and the previously clear sky above was quickly covered by dark clouds.

A split second later—lightning and thunder cracked overhead.

As if the heavens themselves were heralding the beginning of a new era, torrential rain poured down, washing over the entire Loguetown.

And then came the uproar.

Roger's final words, transmitted through the Visual Den Den Mushi from that small execution platform, sent the entire world into a frenzy.

At the same time, it crushed all of Sengoku's calculations—his moment of triumph reduced to nothing.

The man known as a brilliant tactician even during his Admiral years now stood below the platform, face dark and breath heavy.

He had anticipated Roger's death would devastate the pirate age. But now, he also understood that because of those final words, ordinary people around the world—and generations yet to be born—would set sail chasing the dream of the One Piece, hoping to become Pirate King.

"Damn it!"

Sengoku swung his arm furiously:

"All pirates, dead or alive—on this island—take action immediately!"

The communications officer began mobilizing Marine forces. The Vice Admirals from HQ who had accompanied them and a large number of Marines quickly moved into action.

But—it was already too late.

Someone had blocked Aokiji. And the abrupt weather change had thrown the entire square into chaos, where civilians and pirates became indistinguishable in the confusion.

Moreover, the pirates in Loguetown weren't nameless nobodies—there was Gecko Moria, just starting out with high ambitions, and Crocodile, not yet obsessed with the Pluton. There was Dracule Mihawk, the soon-to-be world's greatest swordsman and Marine hunter…

Too many of them. Roger had ignited a chaotic era—an era that, for ordinary people over the next twenty years, would mean nothing but greater misfortune.

But revolutions… were never bloodless.

Kevin's eyes turned toward the port of Loguetown. Aokiji, wielder of the Ice-Ice Fruit, had been stationed there per Sengoku's orders from the start.

But now he had been intercepted—and at twenty-five years old, Kuzan had yet to reach the pinnacle of his power.

Still—for Kevin, this was also an opportunity.

"Whoosh!"

Kevin yanked out his spear and hurled it. It sliced through the air and impaled a pirate with a Sin Value of 900, pinning him to the base of the execution platform.

Sengoku took one glance—said nothing.

Kevin leapt down from the platform, pulling out his spear in one smooth motion.

"You? I doubt you've got anything to do with the One Piece."

Before he finished speaking, Kevin was already behind another pirate with a Sin Value of 600.

"Hahaha! Set sail! Go find the One Piece—that's the Pirate King's treasure! I'll become Pirate King!"

Before the words were fully out, Kevin's spear shot through the back of the man's head. When he pulled it out, red and white matter splattered across the ground—causing the crowd nearby to recoil in horror.

"What kind of king do you want to be?"

Kevin didn't stop. Using his special vision, he scanned for pirates with high Sin Values:

131… 180… 90… 320… 95…

Soon, people began to recognize him.

"That's Kevin—the executioner from Lasgapu Town in the West Blue! That bastard executed the Pirate King in Loguetown?!"

"He's a Marine dog! Kill him!"

"He's been chasing us non-stop—let's take him down first!"

Suddenly, a pirate spun around and fired a shot.

But Kevin easily dodged with a sidestep. His blood-soaked spear flew out, skewering the pirate cleanly through the chest.

Opening treasure chests isn't just about gear…

Kevin thought to himself. After all, whether it's Shadow Clones or anything else, all powers require stamina to use.

That's why he sought to increase his physical constitution, and only his willpower could fully master his own strength. Constitution and Mentality stat cards—those were the true goal—the foundation of his power.

His reaction speed had grown so much, he'd already stepped across the threshold of Observation Haki.

"Whoosh!"

The spear flew again—but this time, no blood followed.

The pierced area crumbled like loose soil, then reformed instantly.

A Logia-type Devil Fruit user—elementalization makes physical attacks ineffective.

"Hahaha! Kevin, the Marine executioner—you're useless against me!"

The pirate laughed wildly, dashing toward the port.

With a Sin Value of just over 1,600, he was one of the last high-value targets on the square—Kevin wasn't letting this fish get away.

"A Logia, huh…"

Kevin grinned, ignoring the spear stuck in the ground. He chased after the man.

"You damn Marine! I already told you—your attacks are useless against me, you bastard!"

As the curses rang out, Kevin caught up—and threw a punch.

Boom!

The Logia user was launched through the air—his shoulder blade shattered.

"Cough… cough…"

Blood sputtered from his mouth. His face was filled with disbelief:

"Impossible… how could you hit me?!"

Kevin didn't answer. He glanced around—the square was nearly empty now.

"A Logia without Observation Haki… is just a fruit user."

He said it calmly—and threw another punch at the man's face.

Boom!

The Logia pirate was sent flying again.
