Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The End... or a Beginning?

Author's POV

The night was heavy with smoke, the air thick with the scent of blood, burnt gunpowder, and betrayal. Screams echoed across the halls of the Belcastro estate, a mansion nestled on the outskirts of Milan, where marble kissed every floor and diamonds sparkled even in shadows. The kingpin of the underworld was dead, and so was the villain of this tale—or at least, that's what the world thought.

Vivienne Alarie, the infamous "Black Widow," had fallen. Branded as a traitor, a manipulator, and the woman who tried to overthrow the Four Kings of the underground—she met her end with a bullet through her heart, fired by the very man she'd once tried to seduce.

But death wasn't the end for Vivienne.

Vivienne's POV

I didn't expect to open my eyes again. Not after the betrayal, not after the sharp pain in my chest and the cold that crept in. But there it was—the softness of silk sheets, the scent of jasmine, and the unbearable weight of memory.

I sat up, breathing hard. My hands were smooth. My nails, painted a soft pink. I was no longer in my lethal black gown soaked in blood. I was in a schoolgirl's uniform. What the hell?

A mirror across the room confirmed my nightmare—or miracle. I wasn't Vivienne Alarie anymore.

But I was.

Same stormy gray eyes. Same raven hair.

Same soul.

Author's POV

Vivienne Alarie had been reincarnated into the body of a teenage girl in a world eerily similar to her own—but one that had yet to see the rise of the mafia empires. A world where the Belcastro name hadn't yet become feared. A world where the Four Kings—the most powerful and desired mafia heirs—were still in their prime.

And more shockingly, this world followed the plot of a romance novel Vivienne had read in her previous life. The original story followed a sweet and innocent heroine who melted the cold hearts of the mafia heirs. Vivienne, in her new form, was the villainess who tried to sabotage that love.

Funny thing was—she had no intentions of repeating history.

She was done being the villain.

But fate, it seemed, loved irony.

Vivienne's POV

I should've kept my head down. Should've smiled and played nice. But I couldn't help it—the sharp tongue, the smirk, the way I could see through people like glass. It all came back naturally.

And the Four Kings? They weren't anything like I remembered them from the book.

Ezra Belcastro—the cold-hearted strategist who preferred guns to people.

Luca Moretti—the seductive devil who made deals with a smile and killed with a kiss.

Kai Takeda—the silent assassin, always watching, always waiting.

And Damian Cruz—the heir with a wild heart and bloodied hands, who ruled the streets like a storm.

They were dangerous.

They were broken.

They were beautiful.

And they were looking at me like I was a puzzle they wanted to solve.

Or a bomb they couldn't wait to ignite.

Author's POV

Vivienne had every reason to avoid the Kings. To let the heroine shine and steal their hearts. But when she saved Ezra from an ambush with nothing but a penknife and a glare, everything changed.

They started to see her.

And the original heroine? She started to fade.

Because sometimes, the villain wasn't born.

She was made.

And sometimes, the villain gets the love story.
