Chapter 13 - Mark, what are you doing?

Last time Russell single-handedly destroyed the entire army without effort, the Flaxan couldn't have thought for decades that this would be enough to deal with him.

He turned his gaze and noticed a special unit at the center protected by the infantry legion, carrying tank-like equipment on their backs connected to water guns in their hands.

As soon as they stepped onto Earth, they focused on spraying a large area of the ground within sight with a gray, mud-like substance, whose purpose was unclear.

Citizens fled, and the infantry legion and tanks drove over it without being affected.

"An unknown substance specifically laid on the ground?" Russell had a premonition that this was the secret weapon the Flaxan had specifically developed against him.

The last alien army invasion of Earth was completely annihilated, suffering heavy losses, and no one expected the Flaxan to invade Earth again the next day.

There were more people downtown than last time, with some holding mourning activities for the deceased citizens.

It also took Russell one or two seconds to transport everyone outside the muddy area away; now only dozens of people were left, standing on the mud and relatively close to the alien army.

"Be careful, 'that person' is here!" In the blink of an eye, all Earthlings within sight disappeared, and the unit's Commanders immediately tensed up, raising their hands to make tactical gestures, putting the entire army on alert.

But with their reaction speed, being on alert or not was useless.

Whoosh!

Reaching the edge of the muddy ground, Russell squatted down and touched some of the muddy substance with his finger, wanting to pick it up and study it, but even a casual movement for him was too fast.

The moment his finger touched the mud, subjected to the high-speed impact, the muddy substance denatured, producing an extremely strong adhesive force!

Like glue strengthened countless times, it actually took Russell some effort to pull his finger back from the ground.

"Non-Newtonian fluid-like?"

Russell clapped his hands, stood up, and squinted at the gray muddy substance covering the ground beneath the alien army's feet, instantly understanding the arrangement of these guys.

A non-Newtonian fluid is a substance that yields to slow force but resists rapid force; simply put, the stronger the force it receives in a short time, the higher its own strength becomes.

The muddy substance the Flaxan specifically developed to deal with him has similar properties; it seems the faster and stronger the impact, the stronger its stickiness becomes!

"With this muddy substance, the method I used last time to create a tornado with super speed to deal with this army cannot be replicated, and even running at high speed among them is extremely difficult."

"To deal with me, they really went to great lengths!"

Super speed ability couldn't be neutralized this easily; even without stepping onto where they stood, Russell had many ways to indirectly expend some effort to eliminate this army.

However, facing this situation, he had a more direct method.

His feet left the ground, and Russell flew up.

Russell swooped down from the sky, rescued the remaining people, and Mark and others also arrived.

"Cousin?"

"Be careful, that muddy substance on the ground can stick to people with abnormal speed." Russell slightly turned his head to remind everyone, and Eve and the others nodded, indicating they understood.

"He... he can fly?"

Looking at the figure standing in the sky, the unit's Commanders widened their eyes, their hearts suddenly skipped a beat, as if tightly gripped by an invisible hand, their blood solidifying in their veins.

Then wouldn't their decades of painstaking calculations be in vain!

"No, open fire on him, kill that person!"

Buzz buzz buzz!

One by one, the tank cannons charged up and fired at Russell; dodging a round of salvos, he rushed forward, grabbed a cannon barrel, picked up a tank, swung it like a baseball bat, and smashed another tank away.

Dozens of tons of tanks felt like moderately weighted hammers in his hands; his strength was astonishing, and he carried the tank and charged towards other heavy tanks.

"Let's go."

Eve and the others each took action.

Dupli-Kate split into seven or eight duplicates and charged towards the alien army together.

Rex-Splode grabbed the metal rods on his belt, using his ability to charge any inorganic object to explode; he flung the metal rods out one by one, exploding with power comparable to satchels of explosives, blowing away a large number of Flaxan soldiers.

Robot, relying on his steel body, engaged in hand-to-hand combat, taking down several soldiers, and fired several small missiles from his shoulders, bombing the alien army.

The most conspicuous was Atom Eve; she rose into the air, her long hair flowing without wind, her eyes glowing with pink light, projecting energy in the shape of giant blades to slash at the enemy.

Unfortunately, the Teen Team had only shown their power for a short while before the Flaxan had already devised ways to deal with them.

Rex-Splode and Dupli-Kate were sent scurrying for cover by just one round of laser rifle volleys from the Flaxan infantry.

Some soldiers raised their guns and fired electric alloy nets, trapping Robot; a powerful current surged through his entire body, causing him to short-circuit and fall, unable to move.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

Another squad of soldiers also fired electric alloy nets, providing covering fire against Eve in mid-air.

Eve fired energy waves, destroying some, but she was quickly caught anyway; the powerful electric shock caused her to fall unconscious, plummeting straight down from over twenty meters in the air towards the hard ground.

"Eve!"

Stepping onto a bloody and brutal battlefield for the first time, completely different from the minor skirmishes against supervillains before, Mark, despite his powerful stats, had almost no combat experience, especially not being ready for killing.

After cautiously fighting and sending some alien soldiers flying, ensuring they couldn't get up again.

Mark was temporarily suppressed by the thick laser beams fired from five or six tanks, or rather, his hesitation held him back.

"There are too many, I can't handle them all like this, but..." Looking around at the dense alien army, he hesitated whether to kill, seeing the girl he liked was in danger.

"No, Eve!"

Mark widened his eyes and finally erupted, smashing the ground heavily with a punch.

As if a small earthquake, the ground shattered, splitting into huge fissures, several tanks lost their footing and toppled, and dozens of alien soldiers were blown away by the shockwave.

Mark instantly rushed to Eve's side and caught her in his arms.

"Grayson?"

Eve groggily opened her eyes, looked at Mark's face close by who had saved her, realized she was in his arms, her cheeks slightly reddened, and her eyes avoided Mark's gaze; the atmosphere between the two became a bit ambiguous.

Bang bang bang... Creak!

Metal deformed and shattered, destroying the last main battle laser tank; Russell casually threw away the broken cannon barrel left in his hand.

"Mark, what are you doing?" Turning back, he saw lasers flying everywhere on the battlefield, yet the two of them had an ambiguous atmosphere as if only they were left on the battlefield; he covered his forehead, speechless and choked up.

Although Rex-Splode, Dupli-Kate, and the others were a bit weaker, at least their mindset was very proper.

This guy Mark, when he gets on the battlefield, either slacks off with a weak mindset, not erupting unless the girl he likes is in trouble, or his heart races with the girl he fancies in his arms, getting distracted on the battlefield.
