In a strange land
Nicholas's POV
"This way your highness" the guard guarded me into the palace of the Volcans. The alpha was sitting on his throne as I walked in.
I bowed. " Your highness" I said.
He nodded. I handed over the later to the guard and waited in anticipation. The alpha took the letter. He stared at it. Touching the belly and all.
"Nicholas what is this?" He asked. I didn't say a word as he went ahead to open it. He read through it immediately and my heart pounded in my chest. I had taken the risk to give the letter myself because I knew they would not kill me but with the Volcans, you can never be too sure with the way they would acted.
He snapped the letter into two and it took everything in me not to flinch. Before I knew it he was standing right in front of me.
"What in the world is this?" He whispered. His voice dangerously low.
"Your highness I can not marry your daughter because I now have a mate" I kept a deadpanned face, looking him straight in the eye. Of all the things I have heard of Alpha Max, the one I find most truthful is that he didn't want to detect fear anywhere around you. The man detested weak people. That was why he killed servants.
He broke into a bitter laugh. " Nice" he nodded. "You are indeed brave to have come here"
I stared at him waiting for his final judgement.
"We were in our space when your father asked for our daughter's hand in Marriage. So we can't just take no for an answer" he said. I struggled with the urge not to roll my eyes. Of courses I knew I would not be let off the hook easily.
"I know" I replied immediately.
"To be free, your blood must spill" I nodded but my heart was beating. " You will join us in our fight with the rogue"
And then my heart left my body. Fighting with the rogues was a suicide mission.

I got settled in with the Volcan pack. I attended meetinge and fight sessions. Then I became good friends with one of the alpha's sons, Raymond.
We became close. So one night his father called him and I out to talk.
"Raymond, your might be chosen as heir, what plans to you have for the werewolf kingdom?" Raymond stared at me first before his father. I wondered what that meant. He told me he hated how his father loved to put him and his brothers against each other.
He coughed. Somehow I could tell his father loved him and he might be the one chosen.
.In the werewolf kingdom, since the last century, it had been more of an omen to show who the next in line would be on large families ,because of what normally happened then.
On a Certain occasion, the next in line for the throne of the Alpha of the Alphas was brutally murdered by his brother. He was jealous that his father would choose his younger brother over him.
The Alpha of the Alpha was not chosen by hierarchy, rather by strength and good Leadership qualities. On another occasion, a heir to the Alpha of the Alpha thrones was kidnapped and burnt alive by the Rogue community, who was headed by the Luna. She was angry at that her favorite son was not chosen as the Alpha.
So with all these happening, no one knew who would be the next in line.
"Dad, all my plans had been to unite all packs" I replied.
"hmmm– he paused a bit_ that indeed is good. You have a good motive but you need a plan to combat this. The werewolf kingdom is swarming with werewolves who had rogues, due to one reason or the other" he said.
"Dad may I ask a question?" I began and he nodded his reply. "Wolves that are now rogues, were they once in a pack?" I asked.
"Yes they were. It was either they had a fall out with their Alpha or they were Omegas who their packs truly hated." He sighed deeply.
"son…there are myriads of reasons why wolves turn to rogues…and you say, you want to unite us all?" he asked as he gave that look. Like he was indirectly questioning if, I had my head okay.
"Yes dad" he said as he gritted my teeth in a quiet anger. He glanced at me and I understood what he had said. Even my own father did not believe in my plans.
He had shared my ideas for the throne with me and his best friend.
We applauded it but he knew he had to know rogues to rule them. He wanted to go to a secret fighting but Raymond was horrible fighting. So I devised a plan.
"Bro so what's the plan?" Damian and he asked when we meet at the field.
"okay. See I'll be gone for a month, I will blend into the rouges and live amongst them. I will go for you Raymond" I said.
"That's okay. You have to be careful. I hear they are brutal in their dealings" Damian said.
"Yeah I know too. Now you have to promise me something." I said to them
"What?"
"Now on no account will you tell a soul where I am, I'll tell the alpha I'm doing some deep training for the rogue fighrt and lock myself in the room"
They nodded. And so I left but I also dropped letters to my delivered to my parents and Azaria.
Knowing the Rouges made me aware of different people in the werewolf kingdom. We fought and trained ourselves. They took my like their own. Some how I had never felt welcomed in place like that. The one thing I loved about the Rouges was that, they always had each others back. No matter what.
My stay was gradually coming to an end as I thought of how, I would say goodbye. A match was fixed on a day. When the fight began, I noticed two Rouges give me weird looks. They had been staring at me that, I suddenly became uneasy. A thought crept to my mind. Did they now Know of my true identity or what?
I wasn't the one fighting so I didn't worry. Then the fight started. I took my thoughts out of it and began watching the fight. Knowing the kind of i person I was I didn't take my eyes off them. They went exchanging looks but they had their eyes on me.
It was at that point that I knew I was the Target. They finally got to where I was and picked a fight with a guy standing beside me. Immediately I saw them with a knife.
Then one whispered into my ear.
"Hey Alpha" and he tried stabbing me but he missed and I began running but they caught up with me and we began fighting.
