Chapter 22 - The Meeting

Hearing Kaido's words, the three exchanged quick glances and nodded lightly, bracing themselves for battle.

Suddenly, Jack drew his short sword, aiming to strike Kaido from behind. But to everyone's shock, Kaido grabbed the blade effortlessly. With his overwhelming wrist strength, the knife was crushed into powder within seconds.

A faint smirk curled on Kaido's lips as he snorted coldly, "Pathetic… Weaklings have no rights. You've always been the one I trusted most, yet here you are, trying to stab me in the back."

Though Jack's heart churned turbulently, he took a deep breath and recovered his composure.

"I don't care about that… If I don't take you down today, you'll kill us all instead."

"Exactly, Captain… There's no other way. This is for our own good," Quinn said, shaking his head.

Kaido's mouth twitched. "You three together still aren't a match for me. Do you really think a sneak attack could succeed?"

After saying this, Kaido shook his head slowly.

The three looked grim. When they glanced at Jack, he slowly lowered his head, clearly embarrassed.

Jack thought to himself, Man, that move was way too lame.

He took a deep breath, stared hard at Kaido, and said quietly, "Then Lord Kaido, I'm sorry!"

"Whatever… I never took the three of you seriously anyway," Kaido said with a cold snort.

To Kaido, they were just pawns—losing three workers meant nothing.

Just then, Quinn's body began to transform into a massive ankylosaurus.

"We all know you're a Devil Fruit user of the Dragon-Dragon Fruit," Quinn said deliberately. "But it doesn't matter. Who knows who will win or lose? Let's find out."

"We three… even if we can't beat you, we can at least wear you down by half, right?"

Kaido snorted again and nodded lightly. "Then come on… all of you."

With that, Quinn extended his huge claw, aiming to crush Kaido's neck.

He thought that even if he didn't break it, he'd at least force Kaido down for a while.

But to his shock, Kaido barely seemed to care—he simply grabbed Quinn's hand with one powerful grip!

Quinn drew a deep breath, his expression darkening. This time, it's over.

For the next half-minute, he experienced true hell on earth.

His hand was crushed into shattered bone.

Then Kaido flung him away with ease.

Quinn's arm was completely broken, and in that instant, he shattered inside.

Jack watched this scene intently. Transforming into a mammoth, he roared and charged Kaido with lightning speed, the two curved blades strapped to his massive tusks gleaming.

But Jack's blades on his tusks didn't faze Kaido in the slightest.

With a slight flick of his fingers, Kaido tossed Jack aside.

Jack immediately sensed things were going badly and let himself drift with Kaido's immense force.

With a tremendous crash, Jack's body slammed into the wall like a giant cannonball, cracking it with spiderweb fractures.

Jack was knocked unconscious on the spot.

"Kill!"

Suddenly, King darted behind Kaido, his two enormous, powerful wings poised to strike.

But after sensing something, he quickly pulled back.

Though Kaido hadn't been harmed, King's flaming wings had also failed to damage him.

In his pterodactyl form, King might have been formidable to others, but against Kaido, his wings seemed particularly fragile—looking as thin and delicate as sheets of paper.

At that moment, he sighed deeply, thinking that at last he was free from Kaido's torment.

But just as he turned his head, he caught sight of Kaido's piercing gaze locked onto him. Before he could react, Kaido reached out and grabbed him like a mere chick—then slammed him heavily onto the ground!

The entire sequence took no more than a minute. Kaido hadn't even bothered to take the three seriously, nor had he shifted into any transformed state.

A faint smirk tugged at Kaido's lips as he lightly applauded and said, "Honestly, you're nothing special… I really don't know what to say about you all. It's ridiculous. Sometimes you just have to face reality—know your strength, know your place. Got it?"

"Teaching your subordinates isn't done with words alone."

Just then, a man stepped through the door. His feet didn't seem to touch the ground; the floor trembled as if disturbed by a great force.

Kaido sensed the imposing aura of the newcomer and frowned, turning around. To his surprise, it was Ryuma.

When Ryuma entered, the soldiers outside tried to block him, but he surged forward radiating Conqueror's Haki. They were no match for him.

Ryuma took a deep breath, his gaze steady and calm. "Kaido… you've wreaked havoc on Wano Country, and today is the day you pay for it."

Kaido paused, then burst out laughing as if hearing the most absurd joke. Clapping his hands heartily, he said, "Hahaha! Are you mocking me? You think it's possible? No one alive could ever kill me, Kaido. Not even I could do it myself…"

Still chuckling, Kaido clapped again.

Seeing Kaido's arrogance, Ryuma swallowed hard and spoke slowly, "Regardless… things have come this far. Neither of us needs to pretend anymore. I'm giving you one last chance: repent, leave Wano, go wherever you please."

Kaido burst into laughter, mocking Ryuma's naivety. "You… a pretender with such a big mouth?"

His laughter faded quickly as his expression grew serious. "You're the first to speak to me like that—how utterly disrespectful. Today, I will destroy your reputation and ruin you!"
