Chapter 1 - Special Operation

"You want me to wear a dress?!"

Li Hao's eyes widened as he stared at the folder in front of him. It didn't contain an exercise notice, but a real-life undercover mission brief.

"That's not the point," Li Qing leaned lazily against the police station's lounge sofa, a smile playing on her lips. "The point is, you also need to learn to dance, ballroom dancing, the female part."

"Do you have to provoke me like this?"

"Of course. You'll need to help me attract attention at the ball. If you don't work on your terrible expression management, Tang Qiming's bodyguards will see through you in minutes."

Li Hao sighed. They were a rare pair of twin police partners – the brother was steady and meticulous, skilled in investigation and tracking; the sister was quick-witted and smooth, adept at psychology and disguise. Today, they had received a special mission.

The briefing stated clearly: Tang Qiming, a billionaire active in the real estate and finance industries, was secretly involved in smuggling, money laundering, and even human trafficking. Due to his vast network of connections, the police had never found direct evidence to incriminate him.

Now, an opportunity had arisen.

Tang Qiming was hosting a masquerade ball on his private yacht for his "suddenly revealed illegitimate son." After the ball, the yacht would leave the port and head for the open sea, returning after a week's voyage. The police speculated that he would use this opportunity to meet with important partners and conduct secret transactions.

The mission objectives were:

Confirm the criminal transaction. Obtain audio and video evidence whenever possible. Avoid alerting the target.

"You and I will share one identity as ball guests. I'll infiltrate the yacht's interior," Li Hao said, frowning. "And you'll be responsible for making your presence known at the ball, but can you really hold everyone's attention for the whole time? Don't make a mess of it."

"Have you forgotten who your sister is?" Li Qing raised an eyebrow, gently stroking the evening gown prepared in the police station's prop room. "Don't worry, this 'Cinderella' is armed this time."

Li Hao looked down at his feet, two sizes larger than his sister's, and fell silent for a moment.

"Don't worry," Li Qing seemed to read his thoughts, grinning at him. "If it really comes to you wearing these shoes... then tonight will be very interesting."

They exchanged glances and suddenly both laughed.
