"Huff, huff, huff—!!"
Jack flapped his dragon wings as naturally as if they were his arms.
A surge of air rose beneath them, turning into a gust that swept past.
He felt his body grow lighter.
"Boom!!"
In the next moment, Jack's powerful hind legs kicked off the ground with force, easily crushing the surface beneath him and leaving behind deep craters.
His massive dragon body leapt into the air with surprising agility and grace.
At the same time, he beat his imposing wings with strength and speed.
The developed muscles along his body contracted and stretched like a high-speed engine.
Each flap of his wings generated powerful lift and thrust, stirring up dust storms around him.
Slowly but steadily, his 50-ton body rose into the air, climbing higher and higher—until he was soaring.
He was flying!
Jack looked down and watched the ground grow smaller beneath him.
He soared over the treetops and above the valley forest, unable to hide the excitement on his face.
This wasn't magic or anti-gravity. It was pure physical strength, and the incredible design of his dragon wings.
After takeoff, Jack began testing different flight maneuvers—straight flight, turns, climbs, dives, gliding...
Each movement came instinctively, as if etched into his very being after the fusion with pterosaur DNA.
'This is what it feels like to fly. This is what it feels like to be free.'
At first, his speed was slow. But as he adjusted to flying, he increased the frequency of his wingbeats, and his speed steadily climbed.
Pterosaurs might not fly as fast as birds, but they weren't slow.
Their speed could exceed 100 km/h.
Their massive wings were perfect for gliding, allowing them to travel hundreds of kilometers without rest.
Jack could hit speeds up to 100 km/h, but maintaining that pace for too long drained his stamina quickly.
His respiratory and circulatory systems would overload, and exhaustion would soon follow.
Suddenly, while flying, Jack spotted a familiar figure on the ground.
Gray, his younger sister, had been separated from him earlier.
"Roar!!"
Jack called out to her.
Hearing her brother's familiar roar, Gray immediately responded.
But when she looked around, she couldn't see him.
Then she looked up and saw a huge figure descending from the sky above the forest.
Its wings spread wide, stirring up fierce winds.
Leaves were scattered, sand and rocks were lifted, and the ground was swept with force.
When she looked closer, she realized—it was her big brother!
Jack landed safely, folding his dragon wings swiftly against his broad back like an umbrella snapping shut.
Gray ran to him immediately, circling him, her eyes full of curiosity as she examined his wings.
She had just seen a group of pterosaurs escaping from the Pterosaur House.
It was the first time she realized there were creatures that could fly with wings.
And now, suddenly, her brother had grown wings—and he could fly too.
Jack gently patted her head, let out a low roar, and continued leading her south, straight toward the central core of Jurassic World.
-----------
After dusk, night quietly fell, and all of Isla Nublar was soon wrapped in deep darkness.
Paddock No. 3—the Velociraptor enclosure—was under Owen's command.
Inside were four adult raptors he had personally trained: Blue, Delta, Echo, and Charlie.
Blue was the undisputed leader of the pack.
Each raptor stood about as tall as a grown human, stretching 3 to 4 meters long and weighing between 300 and 500 kilograms.
Agile, fast, and intelligent—they were apex predators in their own right.
Owen held out a piece of flesh, freshly dug from the site where Jack and Gray had extracted the RFID chip.
He let each raptor take turns sniffing it, getting them familiar with the scent of their new target: the Indominus Rex.
More accurately, two of them.
Preparations were complete.
Owen mounted his quad bike, while the mercenaries loaded into a heavily armored vehicle, bristling with high-caliber weaponry.
Their goal was simple—hunt and kill the two Indominus Rex in a single strike.
In the control room, Hoskins was overseeing the operation with a smug expression, fully confident in the plan.
"Release the raptors!" Owen ordered.
With a thunderous clang, the iron gate of Paddock No. 3 swung open.
Blue, Delta, Echo, and Charlie leapt out like lightning bolts, noses to the ground, tracking the scent trail left by the hybrid predators.
Owen followed on his bike, and the armored convoy rolled behind him.
Hiss-hiss—!!It was the first time the raptors had seen the outside world since birth.
They ran freely through the open jungle, their natural hunting instincts fully awakened.
Speed, precision, and power—they were in their element.
After more than ten minutes of high-speed pursuit, the raptors suddenly slowed down, their posture changing, senses heightened.
"They've caught the scent!"
Owen reported through his communicator, signaling the mercenaries to reduce speed and proceed with caution.
The raptors came to a full stop.
Owen and the soldiers quickly dismounted, moving forward on foot.
They fanned out, scanning the dense darkness with rifles equipped with infrared night-vision scopes.
Silence.
Dead silence.
Everyone was tense—even Owen.
Cold sweat formed on their brows, and their fingers twitched on their triggers.
The only thing louder than the cicadas was the pounding of their hearts.
They all knew partly what had happened to the first and second Asset Containment teams.
The male Indominus Rex was a nightmare that came to life.
Not only could he become invisible to both infrared and radar, but his skin was thick enough to resist high-powered ammunition.
Worst of all, he was smart. Smart enough to hide, trick, and possibly even evolve.
His combat ability was beyond anything they'd ever encountered.
"Rustle—!!"
A soft sound—leaves shifting, branches moving.
Then, a massive black shape emerged from the darkness of the forest ahead.
The moonlight caught the edge of its body just enough to reveal it.
Less than ten meters away, he stepped into view.
The male Indominus Rex.
He had arrived.
Owen and the others truly realized how massive he wasn't until they saw the male Indominus Rex with their own eyes.
Compared to him, the four velociraptors and the humans looked no more threatening than mice before an elephant.
"Roar~~"
The one who had appeared was Jack.
Using his telepathic perception, he had already detected the presence of the velociraptor team and the humans.
Now, he had chosen to make his move.
What the humans didn't know was that Jack carried Velociraptor DNA, granting him the ability to communicate with raptors across species, effortlessly and instinctively.
Velociraptors, highly intelligent and naturally social creatures, were pack animals.
Like wolves, they followed the strongest leader.
Until now, that leader had been Blue.
But with Jack's sudden appearance and overwhelming presence, the balance shifted.
The raptors could feel it.
Jack was more powerful. More dominant.
Without a word, Jack let out a deep, resonant roar, carrying with it a clear message:
"Your real enemies are the humans behind you—the ones who've caged and controlled you since birth."
His next roar was even more powerful, echoing with resolve:
"Dinosaurs will never be slaves!"
"Hiss!!"
As if understanding him completely, the four velociraptors turned their heads in perfect sync, eyes locking onto the humans behind them.
The entire battlefield shifted in an instant.
The hunters were no longer sure who was hunting whom.
