Six baskets of shrimp and crabs looked like a lot, but once the shells were peeled, there wasn't much meat left. Since nobody needed to diet, everyone ate as much as they wanted. All six baskets were finished. Tanya and Star were finally full.
But Miles licked his lips like he might still be hungry.
Tanya was speechless.
His appetite was unbelievable.
But thinking about how males in this primitive world used their strength all the time, it made sense that he would eat more. So she took out a basin of snake meat from her space and made a spicy stir-fried meat dish for him. She also made a pot of wild vegetable and mushroom soup.
"This is vegetables. Everyone has to eat it."
She made everyone drink a bowl of vegetable soup before letting them go rest.
Because of this, Moon and Miles, who didn't like vegetables, were really unhappy.
In the corner, Phoenix had no meat, no soup, not even vegetables. He looked even more miserable.
This was exactly what people meant by some suffering from drought while others drowned in water.
That night, after eating and drinking enough, everyone followed Tanya's orders and took a hot bath before going to sleep.
Miles refused to bathe in hot water. He went to the river. Moon admired him and followed. The two, one tall and one small, bathed together under the moonlight.
Before sleeping, Tanya entered her space as usual to check her supplies. She saw one more cow and twenty fat fish. Now that a corner of the space was finally full, she felt more at ease.
In the corner, the plant manual glowed with golden light again. Tanya was confused. She didn't remember getting any new plants besides chili peppers.
Could it be from something she did without thinking?
If so, maybe she earned some points. Maybe she didn't. Maybe it was just a small reward.
With a casual attitude, she opened the manual. Then she froze.
Golden Shrimp Spine Orchid. A plant from the orchid family. Rarity five stars. Reward: a full set of bow and arrow making instructions.
She was shocked.
When did she get such a rare plant? She didn't even notice.
She looked at the picture in the manual and suddenly remembered. It was when she picked a little grass stalk right before breaking Maya's leg.
That random action gave her such a valuable reward?
She laughed. Just a few days ago, she had been wondering how to make a bow and arrow.
Back in the apocalypse, people used guns and even more advanced weapons. Cold weapons like bows only existed in old books. She had no idea how to make one.
But now she had the instructions. She just needed to follow them.
The golden glow in the manual didn't disappear. She flipped another page and saw the willow tree entry was also lit up.
Weeping Willow. A plant from the willow family. Rarity two stars. Reward: a set of feminine hygiene products.
Tanya was surprised again. Another set?
But who would complain about having too many?
She knew she couldn't make sanitary pads by herself in this wild world. So she was very thankful for this reward and stored everything in her space.
She checked carefully. The amount was the same as the chili pepper reward. Based on her cycle, she would use about half a pack each time.
Today was very lucky. She got so much. She was really happy and felt like she could laugh even in her dreams.
But in the second half of the night, happiness turned to pain.
Her period suddenly came.
So the manual gave her the pads for a reason.
Back in the apocalypse, her body was strong. With full abilities, she never even got sick.
But now, this body was too weak. Even though she had been eating well, it couldn't make up for past problems quickly.
She also ate a lot of crab at dinner, which is a cold food. She also ate spicy chili.
Then it rained at night. The cold and damp air made things worse. Her lower belly hurt like it was being twisted with a knife. Her face turned pale, sweat covered her body, and she curled up on the bamboo mat.
She bit down and didn't make a sound. As a former leader, she had learned to endure everything silently.
But Star woke up in the middle of the night and noticed something wrong. She saw her sister curled up strangely, touched her, and felt that she was ice cold. Star was shocked and cried, "Sister!"
She remembered how their father had felt the same when he died. Ice cold, with no warmth at all.
"Sister!" The little girl was scared and panicked. She started crying loudly.
Her crying woke up Miles and Moon in the next bamboo room.
Both of them sat up quickly. Moon heard it was Star crying, so he rushed to the next room in a panic.
Miles heard her crying out for her sister. He felt nervous and also rushed over.
Because he was taller and faster, he got there before Moon and entered Tanya's room first.
There were no lights. It was completely dark inside. But people in this world could see well at night. Miles quickly saw Tanya's condition.
He squatted next to her, bent down, and picked her up.
"Tanya, hang in there. I'll take you to the shaman now."
"No…"
Tanya regretted everything. When she first felt the pain, she had wanted to drink her herbal water. But she had used all of it on the chili plants before dinner. If she had known her period was coming, she would have saved some.
Now, all she could do was hold on and try to absorb some plant energy, hoping it would help.
She didn't expect Star to wake up and start crying like she was already dead.
Tanya was too weak to speak clearly. She called out a few times, but Star didn't hear her.
But Miles had sharp ears. He heard her right away and looked down.
"What do you want to say?"
"No need… to go to the shaman." She spoke slowly and weakly. "I'm fine. I'm just cold. Please boil some hot water for me."
Miles didn't believe she was fine, but she was very firm.
"I'm really fine. Females go through this every month."
She just didn't trust Shaman Leon.
Star heard her sister say she was fine and felt a little better. When she heard Tanya ask for hot water, she didn't care about the heavy rain. She ran out to the kitchen to start a fire and boil water.
Moon couldn't do much, but he didn't want to just stand there. So he followed Star to the kitchen.
