Chapter 137 - The Banquet Unfolds

Not far from Greenwood Village, Denver, in the nearby Sherchack Park.

The Asgardian army's temporary tents were arranged around the lake.

Over three days, the Asgardians, piloting various small fighter ships, had hunted down and killed over two million Chitauri soldiers.

By now, Sigmund was fairly certain that there weren't many Chitauri left alive on Earth!

According to Asgardian tradition, Sigmund should have recalled most of the soldiers back to Asgard.

Only two or three legion commanders would remain temporarily stationed in Denver to slowly eliminate the roughly 50,000 Chitauri hiding across the United States.

However, due to Heisenberg's previous orders, Sigmund couldn't return yet. Once tonight passed, they would gather the entire army and head to New York!

Thus, the Asgardians, having ended the war, immediately threw a joyous party in Denver.

With freshly pitched tents and bonfires, accompanied by the liquor and tobacco collected from across the United States during their search for Chitauri,

the war-torn city of Denver, along with the rest of the world, witnessed the Asgardians at their happiest!

Countless long, traditional divine walnut tables were placed throughout the park, laden with all manner of food.

Most of it was the Asgardians' own wartime provisions: strong liquor, Asgardian cheese, and various roasted meats from the Nine Realms.

However, there was also plenty of Earth's food.

Just like the bald centurion Heisenberg had encouraged, any Asgardian who took an interest in Earth's specialties had now amassed a bounty.

At that moment, Thor was guzzling wine while boasting to the warriors beside him.

He raised a palm-sized black object and explained to those around him.

"Do you know what this is? The Midgardians call it chocolate!

During my time stranded in Midgard, my love let me taste this!

It's so sweet it could make Odin's ravens sing!"

As he spoke, Thor opened his mouth wide and took a bite of the chocolate.

The next second, Thor's face darkened as he chewed on the pieces of machinery and glass in his mouth…

"Pfft, hahaha, Your Highness Thor, this is clearly a crystal, how could it be food?"

"Nonsense, I said it is, look at the logo on it!"

Thor angrily raised the "chocolate," showing the bitten apple on the back of the black chocolate to everyone.

"It's apple-flavored, get it?!!"

"Hmph, idiot, that thing is called a phone!"

Loki, standing beside him, immediately pulled out a prepared "black chocolate."

After discovering Thor had been secretly collecting Earth's trinkets, Loki had prepared the same thing, specifically to embarrass Thor.

He held up the black iPhone 4S and said to the crowd,

"Don't listen to Thor's nonsense. We all know he's the kind of guy who'd kill two sheep while drunk and then brag about slaying a dragon.

Look here, I just need to press this button, the power button!"

Instantly, the phone lit up…

"This is Midgard's ancient communication tool, made from Midgard's native man-made crystal and rubber, paired with some non-divine metal."

"Exactly!"

Beside him, Fandral, breaking his usual habit, nodded in agreement with Loki for the first time.

"What you said is absolutely right. This is clearly an ancient communication tool. It's so thick, still physical, and even needs buttons—it's just too cumbersome.

Thor, you're wrong, drink up!!"

"Fk, I'll drink!"

Thor sullenly spat out the pieces he'd been chewing on and angrily took another drink.

After downing the wine, Thor casually threw the cup to the ground.

The poor stainless steel cup discovered for the first time that it too could be flattened…

Beside him, Fandral casually grabbed a small fishbowl filled with wine and placed it in front of Thor.

Only then did it become apparent that, due to the Asgardians' habit of throwing their drinking vessels, there were no longer any of their own cups left at the scene.

What they were using to drink was truly diverse.

The fishbowl Fandral gave Thor was still decent, but look at Sif—she was now sullenly getting herself drunk from a washbasin!

From the start of the banquet until now, no matter what topic Thor brought up, he had to mention his Midgardian girlfriend!

This left Sif, who had regained her golden hair and expected Thor's praise, utterly heartbroken.

Thinking of this, Sif angrily threw the washbasin, sending it flying 800 meters into Sherchack Lake.

Beside her, Legion Commander Sigmund handed her a pen holder filled with wine and asked,

"Why sit so far from them? Now is precisely when Thor needs you!"

"Nonsense, all he needs is that Midgardian woman!"

Sif angrily retorted, then downed the wine in the pen holder in one gulp. The pen holder followed, sinking into the lake with her resentment.

Sigmund handed her a pink cat bowl filled with wine and tried to console her.

"Why trouble yourself over this? Thor is just playing around. Midgardians are like adorable pets. Even if Thor likes them, how many decades can they accompany him?"

"So, just because she won't even live to a hundred, I have to be outshone by her, and I have to admit I'm not even as good as a short-lived creature?!!"

Sif's resentment soared, making even Sigmund flinch.

After a moment of silence, Sigmund helplessly shook his head.

"I won't say anything comforting, but our former Prince Thor was always like this—whatever he thought of, he'd just…"

At this point, Sigmund suddenly looked up at the sky in the direction of the distant lake!

Moments later, dozens of legion commanders made the same gesture.

In the dark sky, several dozen small aircraft were flying toward them!

As a dragon-slaying warrior, Sigmund would have qualified to join the gods long ago if not for Odin's delay in bestowing divine status.

Such a powerful figure had extraordinary eyesight.

He patted Sif's shoulder armor.

"Still feeling upset? The toys have arrived—a small group of mechanical life-like contraptions.

Let's go take a look!"

"Of course!"

At the mention of possible enemies, Sif's interest was piqued. She downed the wine in the cat bowl, then casually smashed the cute bowl into pieces.

Meanwhile, Sigmund strode past the banquet area, issuing orders to all soldiers through Asgard's light-energy communication system as he walked.

"Everyone, keep drinking. The legion commanders and I will handle this. It seems the Midgardians have sent their strongest to communicate with us!"

"Haha, let them come! If they're not satisfied, we'll slaughter them!"

"What are they here for? To thank us for taking out the Chitauri?"

"Are you talking about those flashy things flying around in the distance?"

"Bring me my battle-axe!"

A group of legion commanders, carefree and staggering, grabbed their weapons and followed Sigmund's lead.

Moments later, aside from the four commanders who had drunk themselves under the table, the rest gathered by the lake.

Then, the group of variously painted iron suits in the sky began to fall in all sorts of ways.

Bang!

A suit with circles painted on its helmet opened its visor, revealing a face with circles on its forehead.

Naturally, it was Bullseye.

Bullseye immediately asked the Asgardians opposite him,

"Hello, who's Sigmund? Our boss has a message for him!"

Hearing Bullseye's words, Fandral grew irritated.

"Who the hell is your boss? No one in Midgard can command Asgard's warriors, you jerk!"

"Uh-huh, our boss is Heisenberg. You should've heard of him!"

"Heisenberg?!?" Fandral's expression changed instantly. "Then you win, buddy. We're on the same side!"

"Right, we're on the same side, partners from Asgard!"

Hill, opening her visor, spoke while extending her right hand toward Fandral.

The gesture left Fandral silent for a long time.

Beside Fandral, Sigmund stepped forward, exasperated.

"Is this some Midgardian custom? Unfortunately, we don't do that!

Also, I'm the Sigmund you're looking for. So, what does His Majesty want you to tell us?"

"The BOSS didn't ask us to tell you anything. He just knew you were holding a banquet in Denver, so he sent us with some of Earth's finest!"

As she spoke, Hill gestured toward the sky behind her.

"To avoid any misunderstandings, our supply aircraft didn't fly directly here, so…"

"No problem, have your aircraft join our banquet!"

Sigmund smiled broadly.

"Asgardians never stop anyone who wants to join the party. The more, the merrier, haha!"

And so…

A fleet of helicopters bearing the Stark Industries logo fluttered into the park.

Tony, dressed in a sleek suit, arrived with Pepper on his arm, exuding an aura of wealth, along with countless fine wines, cigars, seafood, and beef, standing before the Asgardians.

Before Sigmund could greet him, Tony tossed his watch aside.

A projection immediately shot out from the watch.

This familiar method of information delivery finally made the Asgardians feel Earth wasn't entirely backward.

As for the content of the projection…

It was a video shot the day before, with Heisenberg, wearing pajamas and lounging in a deck chair, alongside Tony in another deck chair.

"See, I'm a friend of your Majesty. Those planes are carrying gifts I've sent on his behalf to reward you!

For your defense of Earth against the Chitauri invasion, we are eternally grateful!"

As he spoke, Tony waved his hand.

Countless off-duty Avengers logistics personnel, along with some SHIELD agents selected by Hill, quickly unloaded Stark's gifts from the planes.

Meanwhile, Tony frowned and glanced behind the legion commanders.

"We have some of Thor's friends who want to see him. Where is he drinking?"

"Thor's friends?"

Before Sigmund could respond, Sif suddenly thought of something and stepped forward.

"Is it Jane Foster? We met when the Destroyer appeared. Where are they?"

At the mention of Jane's name, Thor, who no longer felt like a prince and was too ashamed to face the Midgardians, abruptly lifted his head from the wine.

But when he looked toward the crowd…

"Fk!"

He slammed the table in front of him.

"It's him!!!"

Right in the center of Thor's line of sight, too far away to hear Thor's voice, Captain Rogers was pushing Jane Foster, who had been hiding behind him, forward.

Instantly, the image of Rogers holding Mjolnir and Jane leaning against him alternated in Thor's mind…

Thus, Loki was delighted to see Thor's face first turn red, then steadily green… green… green…
