Chapter 3 - The Attack

After receiving Ho Yuhao's agreement to join Tang Sect, Tang Ya was pleased to have finally gained a disciple for the sect. Beibei was even happier for Tang Ya. Along the way, he dutifully fulfilled his role as Tang Sect's senior disciple, introducing Ho Yuhao to the sect and explaining the current situation on the continent, while also guiding him in practicing the Xuanti Skill.

As Beibei patiently explained the cultivation methods of Xuanti Skill, he meticulously went through every detail. Although Ho Yuhao, newly transmigrated and lacking a full understanding of cultivation, could only barely manage to channel his spirit power by relying on the fragmented memories of the original story's protagonist, he was still able to comprehend everything.

Beibei spoke, Ho Yuhao listened, and nearly an hour slipped by unnoticed.

The path had vanished, replaced by dense forest all around. The air was fresher, but a heavy, ominous atmosphere seemed to seep from the forest's depths.

"That's basically how you cultivate it. You'll need to try it yourself and gradually figure out the finer points. If you don't understand something, just ask me," Beibei said to Ho Yuhao.

"Thank you, Senior Brother," Ho Yuhao replied sincerely. Beibei, a top student from Shrek Academy, had a solid grasp of the basics and explained clearly. In just two hours, Ho Yuhao had transformed from a cultivation novice into someone with a solid understanding, which filled him with genuine gratitude.

Suddenly, Tang Ya, walking ahead, snorted sharply. Her steps became blurry, her body flickering in an instant as she dashed toward a large tree on the left. Ho Yuhao caught a fleeting glimpse of cold light as a fierce wind baboon, which had nearly killed him before, plummeted from the treetops.

Seeing the baboon's corpse fall, Tang Ya retracted the hidden weapon she had been about to throw and muttered irritably, "These wind baboons are the worst. Not only do they attack proactively, but they also sneak up on you."

"Tang Ya, was that the Ghost Shadow Stealth Step and hidden weapons of our Tang Sect you just used?" Ho Yuhao asked cautiously, following the plot's trigger, while keeping an eye on Tang Ya's third spirit ring — a lurking Mandala Snake.

Tang Ya smiled with pride at Ho Yuhao's praise and the mention of "our Tang Sect." "You guessed right. It's the combined use of our Tang Sect's Ghost Shadow Stealth Step and hidden weapons. Impressive, isn't it? Train hard, and you'll be this powerful someday."

"Tang Ya, watch out!" Beibei's expression suddenly changed. He raised his right hand sharply, making a grasping motion — the Tang Sect technique, Crane Control and Dragon Grasp!

At Beibei's warning, Tang Ya instinctively pressed her toes lightly to the ground and floated up as if weightless, letting Beibei's pulling energy pull her swiftly through the air.

A dark shadow landed with a soft "puff." Then a heavy, sweet scent washed over them.

Ho Yuhao didn't hold his breath and inhaled the scent. His head spun for a moment, but instantly a cold current surged through his body, sealing his mouth and nose. A breath of icy mist escaped his lips, dispersing the sweet toxic gas he had inhaled.

Could this be my second spirit—Ice Attribute? Feeling this spirit's automatic protective power, Ho Yuhao grew more fascinated by this world. Many mocked Douluo Continent as a "fantasy sewer," but compared to his previous life's world, Douluo Continent had its own unique charms.

While Ho Yuhao was lost in dreams about the future, Beibei had already pulled Tang Ya close with his controlling grip. She pressed her right hand on Beibei's shoulder, curled her delicate body, and flipped behind him.

Two yellow spirit rings rose simultaneously from Tang Ya's feet, pulsing rhythmically. Her right palm extended blue silver grass tendrils that spread out; one curled around Ho Yuhao's waist, pulling him from his daze back to safety.

Beibei, who stood in front, abandoned his previously gentle and refined demeanor. A brilliant blue light flashed from his forehead, rapidly spreading down his body. Blue-purple electric snakes burst forth, weaving around him.

A blue lightning emblem appeared on Beibei's forehead, and his right sleeve burst apart as his arm swelled, growing nearly half a foot longer. His arm became thick and covered with blue-purple scales, his hand transforming into a claw with the same scales. Blue-purple electric snakes flickered and surged along the arm. His three spirit rings—a pair of yellows and a purple—did not circle his body as normal but revolved around this mutated arm.

Though under fourteen years old, Beibei was already a Triple Ring Spirit Master—truly a genius at Shrek Academy.

"So this is the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus?" Ho Yuhao marveled at Beibei's transformation. The once gentle and scholarly senior brother had suddenly become a humanoid dragon bathed in lightning.

"Gua gua—" a shrill screech burst out as the shadow sprang up and lunged at Beibei's neck.

Beibei snorted coldly. A violet glow flickered in his eyes. His thick right arm swung horizontally, instantly creating an electric net that blocked the shadow's advance.

"Zhi la—" thunder rumbled as the shadow was repelled. Beibei staggered back three or four steps, his expression tense. Clearly, this soul beast was no easy opponent.

Rebounding from the electric net, the shadow's true form finally appeared: a three-meter-long, pink-skinned giant snake with a small flower-like bump on its forehead.

"It's a Mandala Snake... pink skin, wow, a millennium-level beast! Perfect. Beibei, this one's mine!" Tang Ya exclaimed joyfully upon seeing the attacking soul beast.

Beibei's expression, however, remained grave. Though he was a Spirit Master-level expert, facing a millennium-level soul beast was still challenging. His own powerful spirit made it possible for him to stand ground; a typical Spirit Master would have fled long ago.

But that didn't matter. Since they'd found a suitable soul beast for Tang Ya, they had to capture it—even if it meant taking some injuries.

"Tang Ya, protect Yuhao," Beibei ordered sharply. At that moment, the first spirit ring on his right arm glowed fiercely. Under the intense spirit energy, a dragon claw formed from blue-purple lightning, striking out from his right hand.

The Thunder Dragon Claw was Beibei's first spirit skill. This claw, condensed from lightning, could extend the reach of his attacks when attached to his hand, or be used as a ranged weapon.

The Mandala Snake was extremely cunning. When its sneak attack failed, it coiled on the ground, preparing for a preemptive strike, waiting for the perfect moment. Just as Beibei launched his offensive, the snake suddenly sprang up into the air, narrowly dodging the lightning-formed claw. Its long tail whipped through the air like a streak of pink light, instantly striking toward Beibei.

Instead of retreating, Beibei advanced. His body swiftly lowered to dodge while stepping the Ghost Shadow Stealth Steps, flashing rapidly to the side. Meanwhile, the thunder dragon claw he had unleashed earlier unexpectedly curved through the air, chasing the Mandala Snake from behind.

At the same time, the second spirit ring on Beibei's right arm glowed fiercely. Countless electric snakes expanded simultaneously, transforming into lightning arrows that flashed violently through the air. They spread out, forming a cage of thunder that enveloped the Mandala Snake.
