Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Big Gray Awakens

Ye Bai ignored the blood streaming from his eyes. His vision was blurred, his eyes burning with pain, clouded with blood. He could barely see.

But Ye Bai knew one thing for certain—if he didn't act now, Da Hui would be lost forever.

He had just acquired two crucial pieces of information:

Life Spirit Seed (Level 5): A beast pet that has died can be revived within ten seconds after fusing with the Life Spirit Seed, which grants immense vitality.

Note: Walking toward death is the key to unlocking the power of the Life Spirit Seed.

Pet Name: Thunder Totoro (Big Gray)

Gender: Male

Personality: Cheerful

Level: Stage 3, Tier 1 (declining strength)

Skills: Brute Force, Thunder Claw, Thunder Shield

Evolution Path 1: ???

Curse Description: "It has been cursed by life, and its soul is shrouded in endless death energy. Only death can free it. Thunder-type treasures may help Da Hui regain his thunder powers."

A chilling sensation surged from Ye Bai's heart, rushing into his eyes. His vision rapidly cleared. Wiping away the blood with his sleeve, he finally saw his surroundings clearly again.

At that moment, a large amount of black mist erupted from Da Hui's body. It condensed into a black crystal, which fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

The black crystal shattered the bluestone floor beneath it.

Curious, the Lightning Cat reached out its paw to touch the black crystal, but Ye Bai shouted, "Lightning Cat, don't touch it! It's dangerous!"

Startled, the Lightning Cat's fur stood on end, crackling with electricity as it scurried behind the Thunder Pig and let out a frightened meow.

If Lightning Cat had made contact with that black crystal, it could have triggered the death curse once more.

Ye Bai stepped forward and gently placed the Life Spirit Seed on Da Hui's forehead.

A soft emerald glow emanated from the seed, filled with a life-giving aura. Even the nearby sunflowers turned toward the light and began to bloom, releasing a sweet fragrance.

The scent acted like catnip; the Lightning Cat collapsed to the ground with a blissful grin. Thunder Pig emitted a faint electric arc across its body. The chameleon's form became nearly invisible.

The legendary Life Spirit Seed was brimming with life energy—far beyond anything Ye Bai had imagined.

A warm current surged through his eyes, quickly restoring the pupil power he had lost when using the Eye of Insight. His vision became sharper than ever—so clear he could see the fine fuzz on ants crawling across the ground.

Suddenly, more black energy oozed from Da Hui's body, forming a floating black skull in the air. Its hollow eyes emitted a faint blue glow, but it recoiled in fear from the Life Spirit Seed's radiant light.

The brilliance from the seed formed a halo that enveloped Da Hui.

The black energy was the death curse haunting Da Hui's soul. It should have dissipated upon his death—but because the resurrection had been so swift, the curse hadn't fully faded. The Life Spirit Seed's overwhelming vitality forced it out.

The black skull, unable to resist, retreated into the black crystal and fell silent.

Wisps of black gas continued to swirl on the crystal, corroding the stone floor beneath it.

Da Hui's gray fur began to regain its luster. As the Life Spirit Seed merged into his brow, his color returned, and his heart began to thump again.

He took a deep breath—two thick streams of air rushed from his nostrils.

Da Hui opened his large blue eyes and rubbed his head, confused.

> "What happened to me? Wasn't I already dead?"

He remembered collapsing as he said goodbye to the sunflower.

> "Is this… heaven? Why is Ye Bai here too?"

Da Hui looked around at the other beast pets—Thunder Pig, Chameleon, Lightning Cat, and more.

> "Everyone's here… Am I not dead?"

He blinked his big eyes in wonder.

> "Welcome home, Big Gray."

A memory flashed before Da Hui's eyes—when he first awoke on the operating table, Ye Bai had said the same words:

> "Welcome to the breeding house. From now on, you're family."

Ye Bai hugged Da Hui tightly, burying himself in his soft fur and feeling the powerful beat of his heart.

Da Hui's eyes softened. He placed a large hand gently on Ye Bai's head and gave him a loving pat.

He knew that Ye Bai must have paid a great price to pull him back from the brink of death.

Noticing the dried blood trailing from the corners of Ye Bai's eyes, Da Hui scooped him into a powerful embrace.

The hug was so strong that Ye Bai could barely breathe—but his face was filled with joy.

Yet Ye Bai's gaze soon fell back to the black crystal, now lying ominously on the floor.

> "What should I do with that black skull trapped inside the crystal? Will it contaminate the area if I leave it here?"

Black gas continued to rise from the crystal, corroding the bluestone and emitting white smoke.

Sensing Ye Bai's concern, Da Hui raised his hand. An emerald green light enveloped the black crystal tightly.

A shriek echoed from within the crystal as vines burst from the ground, weaving into a small, finely crafted box that sealed it shut.

The shrieking stopped. The box dropped to the floor with a quiet thud.

> "Was that… a sealing? How did Da Hui become this powerful?!"

Da Hui picked up the box with his furry hands and handed it to Ye Bai, gesturing with his eyes for him to store it.

It was clear Da Hui had suppressed the evil within. Ye Bai casually stowed the box in his beast space.

> "Oh, right. Da Hui, I have something that might help you."

Ye Bai took out a shimmering Thunder Stone—a high-grade resource.

Da Hui reached out, crushed it effortlessly, and countless sparks of thunder energy burst into the air.

With a roar, he opened his mouth and swallowed it all like a whale gulping the sea.

Afterwards, he let out a huge burp. Embarrassed by the stares, he blushed faintly.

A soft lightning glow surrounded him as arcs of blue electricity crackled across his body. Without being taught, he had already mastered the art of lightning.

A thunder shield formed in midair, floating protectively around him.

At this moment, Da Hui radiated majestic power.

> "It seems Da Hui's origins aren't simple... I can't let anyone know he's back. There could be enemies lurking in the shadows, hunting him."
