The rain last night had been quite heavy, and large, round droplets still clung to the willow branches. Ngan Thu woke up languidly. She checked the time; it was still quite early to prepare breakfast. It had been a long time since she had done that. Ngan Thu opened the bedroom door, and Man Ky was sleeping soundly. After a long period of exhaustion, he had finally found the smile of his lovely wife.
Her cousin's appearance had been timely. Even so, she hadn't truly opened her heart to forgive him. The love of the beautiful dawn was so vibrant. It was as if someone had painted a spring palm branch onto a perfect love song, leaving her soul now bewildered and yearning for the initial dream.
A sense of excitement stirred within her. Could she indulge and blend into that sweet love? She wasn't sure. In reality, he was a powerful man, and she considered herself utterly inferior. Two plates of food were set on the table; she ate her portion first and then went to work. Man Ky woke up wearily, and he looked at the breakfast in surprise. Ngan Thu had arrived at the company quite early. She took the opportunity to do her usual tasks. A little later, her colleagues appeared one after another. They crowded around her, asking questions.
"Ngan Thu, did you go out yesterday?"
Similar questions came one after another. She couldn't help but feel panicked. What were they implying?
"Let's work!"
The colleagues hurried back to their positions, having just seen Man Ky walk into the company's main hall. No one dared to utter half a word. At least they knew that guy was a character who didn't like to talk much. Man Ky tried to glide past the employees to find his little wife. It was heartbreaking because Ngan Thu didn't even glance at him.
How many people understood this awkward situation?
Man Ky quietly went into the office, and before he could even sit down, the door opened again. The assistant was overjoyed to see him.
"I looked for you everywhere!"
He carried a stack of files and placed them on the desk. Man Ky wearily pointed to the computer.
"Just enter it all there! Why are you bringing it to me?"
"But... I wanted you to take a look! Could you possibly..." The assistant's voice was hesitant, and Man Ky almost broke out in a sweat. Honestly, he needed peace right now.
"Alright! Just leave it there. And hey, don't let that Ms. Mi Lac come here again! If she shows up, consider your salary deducted this month!"
The assistant's face turned pale after hearing that. He awkwardly tried to please Man Ky. Just then, Ngan Thu walked by, and Man Ky suddenly fell silent. He turned his head towards the window as if nothing had happened. The female employees, seeing the assistant's gloomy face as he left the office, quickly pressed him for information.
"What's wrong? Is the boss about to have some new ideas?"
The assistant's face grew even more troubled, and he silently shook his head. The gossipy employees looked at each other in confusion. They were eager to see the dramatic unfolding of this rare event.
"Ngan Thu! How can you be so calm?" The frustrated female colleague pointed at the coffee she was drinking. It seemed everyone was whispering something to each other.
"What exactly do you want to say?" Ngan Thu put her coffee cup down on the table. Her colleague looked around and then whispered.
"Don't you know? Yesterday afternoon, you went on a date with some guy. The boss followed you secretly. The gossipy aunts saw it and the whole company is buzzing."
Ngan Thu's face turned unpleasant, and she frowned:
"Date? What date! That was my cousin; we hadn't seen each other in a long time, so we were just catching up!"
"Oh..." The female colleague was stunned. So they had misunderstood and spread baseless rumors. She clutched her stomach and laughed.
"Oh my god! Does the boss know about this?"
Ngan Thu's face flushed red after hearing that. Man Ky was making a fool of himself for others to ridicule! She felt so angry. Should she go into his office and yell at him right now?
"Just ignore him!"
She suppressed her anger, and the female colleague suddenly raised her eyebrows.
"Ngan Thu, have you forgotten who Vu Man Ky is?"
...
The hot news that had spread throughout the company subsided soon after. People completely forgot how the fabricated story had started. It was a beautiful morning when a young man named Jim Tran stepped out of a white taxi. He stood in front of the main hall of the Tin Vi Group. The luxury and glamour of this place overwhelmed others.
"Excuse me, I'd like to see Mr. Vu Man Ky!" Jim said to the young receptionist.
"Do you have an appointment?"
"Oh, I don't..."
The receptionist found Jim's demeanor very elegant, so she smiled and said, "It's a bit difficult to see him right now. It would be easier if you had an appointment. Thank you for your understanding!"
Jim was a little flustered when the assistant approached the reception desk. He handed a stack of files to the young woman. Having already taken a liking to Jim, he asked immediately, "Can we help you with something?"
Jim gently brushed a strand of hair behind his ear and smiled softly. "I just wanted to see Man Ky!"
The male assistant was quite shocked and asked further, "You're looking for Vu Man Ky?"
"Yes!"
Jim's sincere attitude surprised the receptionist and the assistant. How many people dared to call Man Ky so intimately?
"Are you sure? The person you're looking for is the general director of this corporation!"
Jim began to feel confused. Ngan Thu had only said that Man Ky worked at the same company. She hadn't mentioned such a terrifying position. Jim was stunned for a moment, then hesitantly turned to leave. The assistant stood there, watching him go. The receptionists looked at the handsome, mixed-race young man with regret.
Vu Man Ky, the general director of Tin Vi Group!
Jim scrolled through some information online. It was unbelievable!
...
The afternoon sun was lazily hanging in the sky. The indifferent clouds drifted aimlessly, much like her heart right now. Ngan Thu closed her computer, intending to stay until evening before going home. Her colleagues gradually finished work, rushing into the busy routine of family life, preparing dinner and taking care of the children.
Occasionally, she thought about that too. The laughter of children or the whiny voices of little ones. She felt a pang in her heart. Half a year had passed, and she had been avoiding Man Ky like a dream with no escape. Did he really understand nothing at all?
Ngan Thu quietly went to the restroom to wash her face. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. The heavy pain smoldered, and she gently closed her eyes. Suddenly, someone's arms wrapped around her from behind. Ngan Thu startled awake, turning around abruptly. Man Ky held her tightly. She could feel his heart racing with overflowing love.
"What are you doing?" She frowned, but Man Ky didn't loosen his grip. He turned her to face him. Ngan Thu tried to avoid his gentle, loving gaze. Even though she knew it hurt his heart and his soul as well.
"Ngan Thu, I'm sorry," Man Ky said with heart-wrenching pain. He didn't know why his wife was so cold to him. It was so cruel, yet he still loved her deeply.
"Let me go!" She pushed him, but couldn't break free. Man Ky pressed her against the wall, holding her hands tightly and pouring out his misery.
"Can't you stop this? I can't take it anymore!" Man Ky's breath was ragged. That sweet yet painful affection was eroding his heart. She understood, but she tormented him in her own way.
"Man Ky!" Ngan Thu said through gritted teeth, but Man Ky ignored her. He pressed his forehead against hers, then a passionate kiss landed on her sweet lips. No matter how she resisted, he kept kissing her forcefully after months of anger.
The burning kiss trailed down her neck. Her fair skin accentuated her delicate beauty. Man Ky ran his fingers through her long hair, his emotions erupting from loving someone to the point of withering away.
"Stop it!" Ngan Thu pushed him hard, and Man Ky unexpectedly stumbled backward. He hit his back against the white wall. She angrily left, not caring how much he was hurting.
Oh my god, boss?
The assistant bit his lip and hid in a corner behind the door. How could he have imagined the anger of the general director's wife? He didn't dare to make a sound.
Oh well, that's it...
