Chapter 3: A Lingering Heat

Kael awoke with a start.

Sweat clung to his skin. His breath came in heavy gulps, heart pounding like war drums in his chest. For a moment, he thought he was still in that infernal throne room, entangled in the limbs of the Demon Queen. The scent of her still lingered in the air—or maybe it was just his mind playing tricks.

But no.

The sky was grey, and ash fell like snow.

He was back in the ruined chapel, where he had made camp the night before his descent into the rift. His armor lay in a heap beside him, sword within reach. Everything was as it had been.

Except... he wasn't the same.

Kael sat up slowly. His body ached in strange places—his hips sore, his thighs tender. But more than the physical discomfort was the warmth pulsing in his chest, down his spine, to the tip of his fingers.

[System Notice: "Queen's Favor" Active. Charm +25%, Resistance to Dark Temptation Increased.]

[Unique Trait Unlocked: Touched by the Abyss. (Effect: You carry the scent and essence of Velzaria, Demon Queen of Lust. Demons and infernal creatures will react to you differently.)]

Kael blinked. "That wasn't a dream..."

It had been real. Every touch. Every gasp. Every desperate thrust against her velvet throne. The pleasure still haunted his nerves.

And her voice… "If you ever desire more..."

He stood, shakily, adjusting his trousers. His cock stirred even at the memory of her voice in his ears. She had ruined him. One night with her had ignited something dangerous inside him—hunger.

Not just for battle. For dominion. For pleasure. For her.

But more than that… a need to understand.

What was she?

And why him?

He packed his things and headed toward the nearest settlement, a fortress city called Drevenhollow. He needed answers—and perhaps, someone to help him understand this newfound madness in his blood.

Drevenhollow – Three Days Later

Kael sat in the corner of a smoky tavern called The Hollow Cask. Even here, among hardened mercenaries and weary adventurers, people gave him strange glances.

Not because of his armor or the way he carried himself.

No—it was his scent.

Women lingered too long when they walked past. The barmaid had refilled his ale four times despite him barely drinking. Even the barkeep, a grizzled older man, avoided direct eye contact.

Something had changed.

"Can I sit?" came a soft voice.

Kael looked up.

A woman stood before him—young, curvy, with skin like moonlight and hair dyed a brilliant sapphire. Her dress barely covered her ample chest, and her eyes held a flicker of mischief. Something familiar.

"You already are," Kael said.

She grinned, sliding into the seat. "You smell like fire and sweat. And something darker."

Kael narrowed his eyes. "What are you?"

"A friend," she said, swirling her drink. "Or a warning."

He remained silent.

"You were in Velzaria's court, weren't you?"

His hand went to his sword.

She laughed. "Relax. I'm not here to fight. I'm… curious."

Kael said nothing.

"You're the first mortal to bed her and come back alive. That makes you… special."

"I didn't bed her for fame."

She leaned closer, voice sultry. "You don't have to. But now? Every succubus in the underworld wants to taste the knight who made the Demon Queen moan."

Kael felt his cock twitch at her words—and cursed silently.

"You carry her mark," the woman whispered, eyes glowing faintly. "It makes you irresistible. It's why I couldn't help but come."

Her hand slid over his thigh.

Kael caught her wrist.

She smiled. "Oh... careful, knight. I'm not so fragile."

"Who are you?"

"Sindra," she said. "Half-incubus. I travel where lust stirs the wind."

She leaned in, breath warm at his ear.

"I could help you… control what she left inside you. Or... let it consume you."

Kael looked at her—really looked.

She was beautiful, yes. But something in her felt wrong. Not evil. Just... dangerous. She was no Velzaria. There was no power in her, no mystery.

Just desire.

"I'll pass," he said, releasing her wrist.

She chuckled. "For now."

Sindra stood, smoothing her dress. "You'll seek it again, Kael. That throne. That fire. She's under your skin now."

She walked away without another word.

Kael finished his drink and left the tavern.

That Night

Kael couldn't sleep.

His body burned.

His dreams returned to that throne room. To Velzaria beneath him, her legs wrapped around him, nails dragging down his back. Her moans echoed, but now they sounded like calling.

He woke up panting, hard again, cock aching.

[System Notice: "The Queen's Hunger" - Passive Effect Active. (Each day without release increases Lust Pressure by +10%. Side Effects: Erotic dreams, hallucinations, need for domination.)]

He gritted his teeth.

"Damn her..."

He needed to do something.

The Next Day – The Library of Eldrim

Kael sought out the ancient order of scholars in Drevenhollow. He needed lore—history, knowledge on the Demon Queen, her powers, her curse.

An old sage led him to a dusty tome titled "Thrones of Lust and Fire."

He flipped pages until he found the name.

Velzaria, Demon Queen of the Seventh Circle.

Known for seducing champions and warlords. Most fall to madness or die during the ritual. Only one is recorded to have survived… and he vanished soon after, never aging. Rumors say she imprints a part of her essence into those she favors. A seed of her power—and her need.

"Of course," Kael muttered.

She hadn't just taken him.

She had changed him.

He left the library with more questions than answers.

But one thing was certain:

Velzaria would not be his last. Whether by accident or fate, he was no longer just a knight. He was a Conqueror. And the world of darkness, lust, and pleasure had taken notice.

He looked at his reflection in a puddle.

His eyes… they were starting to glow faintly red.
