Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Marvel Cinematic Universe, Non-Sacred Timeline.

Continental Hotel, Top Floor.

"Boss, there's a new assassination contract—two million dollars. Interested?"

A stunning blonde in a tight business suit, clearly styled as a secretary, stood in front of Charlotte Doyle, her tone calm and professional.

"Oh, two million? That's a decent offer," Charlotte replied.

"Tell me the target first. Then I'll consider whether this $2 million contract is worth it. You know I'm picky about targets. Is the target Black?"

Sitting by the window, Charlotte held a square glass filled with whiskey. He slowly shifted his gaze from the view outside to the woman speaking—Ginny.

"No, not Black."

"Charlotte, you're building a reputation as a Black-only hitman. Some of the African hitmen at the Continental aren't happy with you."

Charlotte toyed with his glass, speaking with a serious tone, "There are two types of people I hate in this world—racists and Black people. If any of those bastards have a problem with me, they can come and have a heart-to-heart. I'll personally escort them to where they belong."

Seeing how serious he was, Ginny shrugged, clearly used to his attitude. "The target this time is John Wick. The client wants him eliminated ASAP. Two million dollars. Interested?"

At the mention of the name John Wick, Charlotte's mind drifted.

The man who destroyed an entire mob because of a dog.

Is his story about to begin?

He glanced at the photo in Ginny's hand and confirmed it—it was the John Wick, not someone with the same name.

Charlotte swirled the amber liquid in his glass and took a sip before calmly saying, "Not enough. I'm not taking it."

"Why not?" Ginny asked, intrigued.

"You're new to this line of work, so you probably don't know everything. John Wick used to be the number one assassin in the business. A legend before retirement."

As Charlotte explained, Ginny gained a better understanding of the man now topping the hit list and nodded. "You're right, the pay's too low."

Then she glanced at Charlotte and asked with curiosity, "What about compared to you, Master Ninja?"

Charlotte smiled. "He and I are killers from different worlds."

Though he didn't say it outright, his confident tone and nonchalant attitude clearly showed he didn't consider John Wick a real threat.

Ginny's eyes sparkled with amusement. Dropping the John Wick matter, she said, "I'll go see if there are any other contracts more suited for you."

"Go on."

With Charlotte's approval, she turned and left the room, heading toward the hotel's mission hall.

As she walked away, Charlotte turned back to the view outside.

My name is Leon Foster, from Blue Star.

One day, while playing the Naruto mobile game and trying to pull the new Sannin Hero Jiraiya character card, I got so frustrated by the scammy drop rates that I spent 3,000 bucks and still didn't get enough character fragments. I died on the spot from rage.

And just like that, I reincarnated into this world.

This planet beneath my feet may also be called Earth, but it's nothing like the one I came from.

After all, Times Square in New York has a giant Stark Industries billboard, and tabloid magazines are reporting how the latest playmate is back in Tony Stark's arms.

This is the Marvel Universe—or as I see it, more like a Western TV universe wrapped in a Marvel movie skin.

When I regained memories of my past life, I found myself filthy and dressed in rags in a rundown alley in New York.

Given my state, I figured I was either an orphan or a runaway delinquent. And as for that cursed Naruto mobile game that killed me, it had become my cheat system, lodged in my consciousness.

Of course, this frustrating cheat system was just like before—always stuck loading.

I, now Charlotte Doyle, was eventually adopted by a pair of hitmen working for the Continental Hotel. They raised me as one of their own and trained me to be an assassin from age six.

Their training methods were brutal, especially for a child they picked up off the street.

If it weren't for the cheat system (still perpetually loading), I probably wouldn't have survived the hellish upbringing. That cheat system was my only motivation to endure.

By the time I was a kid, my hands were already stained with blood.

If I had been a child who knew nothing, maybe I wouldn't have cared. But I was once a kind-hearted man from China—this kind of life shattered my worldview and rebuilt it from scratch.

I tried to escape once. But my young body and the unawakened cheat system doomed me to failure. The punishment was harsh, and after that, I gave up on escaping.

Life is like being assaulted. If you can't resist, you might as well enjoy it.

So, I accepted it. Under the training of my assassin parents, I grew quickly—learning all the deadly skills: disguise, hand-to-hand combat, tracking and counter-tracking, firearms, and even assassination-relevant physics and chemistry.

Forget public school or college—I was no bourbon-drinking orphan adopted by some military bigwig.

Still, my basic education was thorough. As a professional assassin, I knew more than most kids who passed college entrance exams. The only difference was the content.

On my 18th birthday, I finally unlocked my cheat system—damn Naruto mobile game, fully loaded at last.

That same year, I completed my training and officially became a professional assassin. I kept the name Charlotte Doyle, passed down from my adoptive parents.

Even though I offered them as a sacrifice, I honored them by taking their name and becoming exactly what they wanted—a well-known assassin at the Continental Hotel.

Before the cheat ever activated, I had already become a listed killer on the High Table's registry.

With over a decade of training behind me, changing careers never even crossed my mind.
