Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Devil's Angel Wings

The demons fell one after another. Either incinerated by hellfire or sliced in half by the flaming wings. With just a few sweeping charges, the battlefield was cleared of lesser demons.

On a distant building, two figures watched the carnage from afar.

One was wrapped in black cloth, only his eyes exposed. But the bow strapped to his back and the distinctive mechanical right eye revealed his identity – Clint Barton.

At this moment, not only was he wrapped in black cloth, but dark mist continuously emanated from beneath the fabric. He was no different from the demons of hell.

The other figure was an elegantly dressed older gentleman in formal attire, appearing refined and amiable. This was Mephisto, father of Blackheart.

He frowned slightly as he observed Jason massacring the demons. He sensed something familiar in Jason's aura, yet he was certain his power had never been bestowed upon this mortal! A vague suspicion formed in his mind, making his temper flare.

The possessions of Hell's Lord are not easily obtained!

Watching Jason slaughter his army en masse, he turned and sneered: "Go meet him, my Hawkeye!"

On the battlefield of the Avengers base, after all the demon soldiers were eliminated, the light column transformed.

With a rumbling sound, a squad of black fire-armored knights, four to five meters tall, suddenly charged forth and positioned themselves before the crimson light. Jason, hovering in mid-air, frowned slightly.

According to the system's assessment, the previous demons were silver-tier enemies, while the nine knights before him registered as platinum-tier target. In other words, each possessed power rivaling or exceeding Hatred.

It would be difficult for Jason alone to stop all nine simultaneously.

Fortunately, the Hell Blackbird descended slowly, and Professor X, Jean, and the others finally arrived on the battlefield!

Jason landed among them and turned to the Professor: "Ready for a fight?"

The Professor's expression was grim: "I may not be able to provide much assistance. I can only block ordinary demons from reaching you. Those nine knights, like Blackheart, have no souls!"

Jason was momentarily stunned. This battle seemed more complex than he'd anticipated.

On the opposing side, nine knights began their charge, their unstoppable momentum like that of a thousand cavalry.

Jason took a deep breath. "You hold the line, I'll eliminate them!"

As he spoke, he flapped his flaming wings and soared skyward, gathering intense hellfire between his palms. As he dove down, explosive flames erupted instantly.

"BOOM!"

The nine knights were engulfed in flames. Nearby ordinary demons howled in agony, some burning to death with the sound of cracking bones. However, within the inferno, nine long swords cut through the scorching air, targeting Jason's head!

Underground Research Laboratory

Anton and Ivan worked frantically to assemble the Thunder Armor. Though some weapon modules and functions remained incomplete, the current configuration still possessed formidable combat capabilities.

This colossal battle armor stood more than three meters tall. On its chest, six powerful Ark reactors were arranged in a "V" formation. The weaponry was only half-installed.

Both arms featured powerful sonic attack devices capable of overturning heavy trucks, while several potent miniaturized missiles were concealed in the shoulders. The back housed a specialized weapon with a slightly bulky design.

Originally planned weapons included the powerful main armament on the chest – a laser cannon – and an ultra-high frequency neural disruption field at the center of the brow, but time had run out.

As for adamantium alloy, beyond its use in critical components, two massive armor plates were cast and mounted on the back and chest respectively. These shield-shaped pieces were detachable, transforming into twin tower shields when removed, serving dual purposes.

With mechanical assistance, assembly neared completion. Ivan hunched over the computer, performing final checks on the operating system, then pressed Enter without hesitation.

Instantly, a progress bar accelerated: 10%...20%...

"WHIRR!"

The armor trembled throughout its frame, and its eyes suddenly blazed to life!

On the battlefield, Jason struggled against overwhelming odds. Though he wasn't panicked facing nine knights, what troubled him was the minimal damage his hellfire inflicted on them. The situation remained difficult, creating a temporary stalemate.

Suddenly, a chill gripped Jason's heart. He spun to look in the direction he'd come from but saw nothing. Yet the sense of danger felt like needles pricking his skin.

"THWIP!"

When he reacted, a black arrow was already lodged in his chest! Strange energy radiated from the projectile, suppressing his hellfire power and nearly forcing him back to human form!

Damn it!

Gritting his teeth through the pain, he yanked hard. The arrow came free, hellfire surged, and the wound slowly closed. But that power remained in his body, interfering with his control over Hellfire!

Simultaneously, a massive sword descended toward his head. He dodged sideways, but another hell-horse suddenly reared and stomped down on his chest. "BAM!"

He shot backward like a cannonball, crashing into the Avengers' formation. Wolverine attempted to catch him but lacked sufficient strength, becoming a cushion beneath Jason's impact.

Jason stood, clutching his chest. He could feel broken bones slowly mending. Even with Hellfire power suppressed, his regenerative abilities remained formidable.

Wolverine let out a rough cough, blood on his lip. "If you can't stop it... then what the hell's left for us?"

Jason rolled his eyes: "If you're scared, you can leave now."

Then the attacker revealed himself. On the far side of the Hudson River, he stood in mid-air, bow in hand, with... a pair of white angel wings!

Jason blinked in disbelief. Is Cupid playing matchmaker?

But upon seeing the face and those eyes, he recognized Clint Barton! Observing the black demonic energy emanating from his body, Jason realized the veteran was controlled AGAIN.

Yet seeing the pristine white wings, Jason understood – they were genuine angel wings. A demonic body with angelic wings. What kind of hybrid nonsense is this?

Hawkeye in mid-air suddenly drew his bow, aiming at Jason again. The same needle-like sensation of imminent danger struck.

Can't dodge!

Jason realized with certainty he couldn't evade this arrow and had to face it head-on! His gaze shifted to Wolverine beside him. The adamantium skeleton should block it, but how to ensure the arrow didn't slip through the gaps?

Hmm... the pelvic area offers more coverage, better blocking odds, right? His eyes drifted to Wolverine's vital region.

Wolverine shifted uncomfortably, eyes narrowing. "The hell you lookin' at me like that for?"

Hawkeye released his bowstring, and a black arrow flashed, seemingly disappearing into an unknown dimension. Jason concentrated his mental strength to its limit, preparing to... teleport to Wolverine's front, back, left, or right!

"WHOOSH—"

Two powerful wind gusts followed. "BOOM, BOOM!"

Suddenly, two large metal shields crashed from above, one in front and one behind, enclosing Jason completely!

"CRACK!"

The black arrow struck the metal shield, releasing bursts of dark mist, but failed to penetrate. Adamantium!

"THOOM... THOOM... THOOM!"

The ground shook with heavy footsteps approaching.

"CLANG!"

A massive mechanical hand retrieved one shield, securing it to its back. The other remained in its grasp as the armor's chest opened, revealing the pilot compartment.

A pleasant female voice announced: "Master, the Thunder Armor is ready for deployment!"

All Avengers stood stunned, witnessing the three-meter-tall armor with its sleek silver lines, proportional build, and artistic design.

Jason glanced back to see Anton and Ivan Vanko waving from the distance. Excellent work! From now on, you will get a salary increase!

Jason stepped forward into the cockpit. The armor's chest sealed automatically, and the massive shield-plate locked over his torso. Jason focused his mind, releasing his remaining lightning through his palms. The specially designed armor immediately registered the signal.

All six Ark reactors operated at maximum capacity, surging powerful currents through his body. The dark power in his chest instantly shattered into nothingness. Hellfire power: fully restored!

Instantly, blazing flames enveloped the entire mech. Like the Blackbird fighter, the armor underwent hellfire transformation!

The frame turned crimson and obsidian, while its originally white-glowing eyes shifted to blood red. The armored hand reached back, producing a buzzing chainsaw sword.

Before him, the Hell Knights charged forward. Jason's eyes hardened. The battle has only begun!

He surged forward like a rampaging beast. Before colliding with the lead Hell Knight, he thrust his legs powerfully and launched skyward!

Extending his left arm, silver-white thunder erupted!

The entire battlefield was again blanketed in endless lightning!

"SHRIEEEEE—"

Even the hell-horses screamed in agony. Jason's chainsaw sword showed no mercy as it descended upon the knight before him!

"CRUNCH!"

The chainsaw became a meat grinder, pulverizing the knight's head to chunks, then continuing downward without resistance until bisecting even the horse!

This wasn't merely a chainsaw sword, but a high-frequency chainsaw that Anton and his son had developed through countless sleepless nights. Enhanced by hellfire, its power was terrifying!

Next, Jason became like an eagle among chickens, wielding violent thunder in one hand and the blazing chainsaw sword in the other, massacring the nine knights!

Hawkeye in mid-air witnessed the carnage and fired arrows continuously, but they were either consumed by Jason's lightning or deflected by his chest and back armor.

When Hawkeye couldn't resist descending, Jason was crushing the final knight's skull in his grip. On the battlefield, all common demons were annihilated, with only two fortunate war horses remaining, howling at the heavens.

Hawkeye regarded Jason before him, his left eye showing no emotion, appearing as deathly still as a corpse.

Jason narrowed his eyes. "Though I'd normally offer surrender, I apologize – today, regardless of your choice, you'll die! For attacking my base, death is the only outcome!"

"Ha ha..."

Hawkeye laughed hoarsely. "You have armor too. A gift from Stark?"

Without awaiting Jason's response, he continued in his gravelly voice: "What a coincidence – I also possess armor."

As he spoke, the black cloth on his body withered away piece by piece, and his bow transformed into a sharp sword. A set of silver-gray armor suddenly materialized on his frame.

The cloth fell from his face, revealing his true countenance with a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "Let's see – which looks better than yours?"
