Chapter 2 - The World Begins to Collapse

After that brief conversation, Zhao Feng sat quietly, staring out the window.

He took a deep breath, trying to process the strange situation he was experiencing. This world was too vivid to be called a dream... yet too impossible to be real.

"Is this really the past?" he wondered.

Every detail felt just right. The taste of his mother's fried rice. The lingering scent of her perfume on his clothes. Even the tiny scratch on the corner of the desk—something only he would recognize.

Everything challenged his logic, as if the world itself refused to be labeled an illusion.

The school bell rang loudly, signaling the start of the first class.

The teacher entered, and the students quickly took their seats.Zhao Feng's eyes locked onto the man's face—Mr. Guo, the notoriously strict math teacher.

That aged face, the firm tone, the habit of tapping the desk with a marker... all of it solidified Zhao Feng's belief.

He really had returned to the past.

And yet, he didn't panic.

He had endured far too much in his previous life. Now, his mind was sharper, and his heart calmer.

"I don't know why or how I've come back… but I won't waste this chance," he thought firmly.

Zhao Feng made a silent vow. He would take his life seriously—study hard, get good grades, enter a top university, and make his mother proud.

He swore never to waste his youth again—never to let her down.

Afternoon classes arrived. Next was English.

As the new teacher stepped into the classroom, a commotion outside caught Zhao Feng's attention, snapping his focus.

"…No way," he whispered.

His heart began to race for no reason. For some inexplicable cause, his entire body filled with unease as he gazed at a floating blue orb hovering over the schoolyard.

It spun slowly, gently, like it was absorbing the very air around it.

"Hey, what is that thing?!"

"Looks like… some kind of portal, right? Like in games?"

"Don't touch it, dude!"

"Is this… some weird natural phenomenon?"

A group of boys circled the object. Some pushed each other forward, curious but too afraid to get close.

The PE teacher came running, panting for breath.

"Everyone, back away! Don't get near it! It's dangerous! Step back!"

With a panicked expression, he herded the students away while pulling out his phone.

"Hello, this is XXX Police Department, how can I help you?"

"Hello, I'm calling from XXX High School. We just found—"

Craaaack—!!

Before he could finish, a violent fluctuation of light burst from the portal.

A massive jaw shot out and instantly bit down on the teacher's head. A gruesome snap echoed as it was torn clean off, spraying blood everywhere.

A monstrous creature emerged from the portal.

It looked like a wolf, but wrong—its fur was pitch black with crimson streaks glowing at the tips.

Crack—crunch—crack—

The sickening sound of bones being chewed echoed across the yard as the beast devoured the severed head like a snack.

Blood soaked the grass. Students who were previously standing nearby screamed and bolted in all directions.

The teacher's phone hit the ground, still connected. A voice came through:

"Hello? Can you hear me?"

No answer.

The wolf stepped on the phone, shattering it.

With a dominant stride, the monster raised its head and let out a thunderous roar.

ROARRRR—!

Its howl shook the air, rattling the classroom windows.

As if answering its call, the portal pulsed again.

More creatures emerged—wolves of similar form but smaller, scattering in every direction and pouncing on students too slow to escape.

One chubby student tripped and was instantly dragged down. The sound of bones breaking and flesh tearing filled the air with the scent of blood and agony.

The schoolyard turned into a slaughterhouse.

Inside the classroom, chaos reigned.

Zhao Feng stood at the window, face pale.

His hands trembled violently, his stomach churned. Bile rose in his throat.

But he held it in.

His eyes stayed fixed on the scene outside. Even with nausea gnawing at him, he forced his body to remain upright. His breathing was heavy—but his gaze, ice cold.

He had seen death before—too much of it. This wasn't unfamiliar. It was just… too soon.

"This world… is truly changing."

A scream pierced the air.

"AHHHHHH!!"

A girl shrieked, followed by an eruption of screams.

Some students cried, others froze. Even the toughest kids in school were now shivering, unable to speak.

But amid the chaos—

Ding!

A cold chime echoed in everyone's mind.

The students exchanged terrified glances.

"Bro, did… did you hear that too?"

"I-I did… So it's not just me?!"

Then, a translucent blue panel appeared mid-air, text forming slowly:

[The current world is undergoing a collision with the Greater World. The fusion process has begun.]

[Dimensional rifts will open, and monsters and alien races will invade.]

[Humans, use this time to gain power as your foundation.]

[Good luck, humanity! —From the Will of the Greater World.]

The classroom exploded with noise.

One student wearing a hoodie labeled "Sasageyo" leapt up in joy.

"I knew it! It's like an isekai! This is our chance to become OP!"

His face lit up with wild delusion, as if he had truly become the main character of an anime.

"Bro's lost his mind," one of his classmates muttered in horror.

Others began sobbing. Some screamed. Some started punching the panel, hoping to escape this nightmare.

But in the midst of all the reactions—

Zhao Feng stood still.

No one noticed how his gaze had turned razor-sharp.

He stared at the panel in front of him, but unlike the others…

Two panels hovered before his eyes.

The first one, the same as what everyone else could see:

[The current world is undergoing a collision with the Greater World…]

But the second—Much smaller, and far more complex:

[Evolution System Activated]
