Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Tokyo is still rainy tonight, with drizzle falling on the ground.

In an unknown alley in Tokyo, a child is lying on the ground.

It seems to be arranged by God.

A tavern owner came to take out the garbage and saw the child lying on the ground.

Boss André is a good man.

He gives the leftovers to the homeless on the street every night.

He is very popular in this neighborhood.

As an old bachelor, he always thinks that love is a grave.

However, as he grows older, although he is afraid of love, his love for children is increasing.

Some time ago, he was still talking to regular customers about whether to adopt a child for retirement.

At this moment, he stood at the entrance of the alley, looking at the child on the ground.

He had black hair, yellow skin, and was definitely Japanese.

There were traces of tearing on his clothes.

"I guess he was robbed? What a poor child." André thought as he walked into the alley and found that the child was still feverish, so he picked him up and took him back to the tavern.

He also asked the doctor and Madame Suzuki next door to help him see a doctor and change clothes.

It was the next day when the child's fever subsided.

After 12 noon, André's Tavern opened to the public.

Mr. André started a new day of busyness.

There were only four employees in the whole tavern, including Simon, a dishwasher, André, a bartender and chef, Claire, and Thomas, a security guard and waiter.

For André's Tavern, noise has become a daily seasoning.

In the evening, the workers around came to the tavern after a busy day to eat and drink, and they were noisy, chatting, and talking.

At this time, on the second floor of the tavern, in a clean bedroom, the moonlight shone on the child on the bed with the noise.

Daichi's consciousness slowly returned, his mind foggy and disoriented.

'Where... am I?' he thought, trying to make sense of his surroundings.

The first thing he noticed was the warmth - a gentle, comforting warmth that seemed to wrap around him like a blanket. Then came the sounds: the crackling of a fire, the soft murmur of voices, and the gentle clinking of glasses.

'This doesn't feel like a hospital...' he mused, his senses gradually sharpening.

As his vision cleared, he found himself in what appeared to be a cozy tavern. The wooden walls were adorned with vintage cooking utensils and faded photographs of what looked like famous chefs. The air was rich with the aroma of herbs and spices, making his stomach growl despite his confusion.

"Ah, you're finally awake," a warm voice called out. "I was starting to worry."

Daichi turned his head to see a middle-aged man with kind eyes and a well-groomed mustache. The man's hands were busy polishing a wine glass, but his attention was fully on Daichi.

'This must be the tavern owner,' Daichi thought, trying to sit up. His body felt strange - lighter, more agile than he remembered.

"Easy there," the man said, setting down the glass. "You've been out for quite a while. I'm André, by the way. Welcome to my humble establishment."

'André...' Daichi repeated the name in his mind. 'A French name for a French tavern in Tokyo. Makes sense.'

"Thank you for your hospitality," Daichi said, his voice coming out higher than expected. "I'm Daichi. What happened?"

André's expression grew serious. "You were found unconscious near the river. A young girl brought you here - said she saw you collapse while walking."

'A young girl?' Daichi's mind raced. 'But I was hit by a truck... wasn't I?'

Before he could process this information, a new voice chimed in.

"Ding~ Welcome to the Life Recipe System. Your journey to becoming a great chef begins now."

Daichi's eyes widened. 'The system! It's real!'

The familiar interface appeared before him, glowing softly in the dim tavern light.

'Five years old...' Daichi thought, his mind reeling. 'I've been reincarnated as a child!'

André, unaware of the system interface, continued speaking. "You're lucky Claire found you when she did. The nights can get quite cold by the river."

'Claire...' Daichi noted the name. 'The girl who saved me.'

"Thank you again," Daichi said, bowing his head slightly. "I don't know what would have happened if she hadn't found me."

André smiled warmly. "No need for such formalities. You're safe now, and that's what matters." He set down the glass he was polishing. "Are you hungry? I can prepare something light for you."

Daichi's stomach growled in response, making André chuckle.

"Right this way, then," he said, gesturing toward a small table near the fireplace. "I'll prepare something that will warm you up."

As Daichi followed André to the table, his mind was racing with questions. 'The system, the reincarnation, this new world... What does it all mean? And why am I here, in what seems to be the world of Food Wars?'

The system chimed again, as if in response to his thoughts.

'So this is it,' Daichi thought, a determined smile forming on his face. 'My second chance to become a great chef. I won't waste it this time.'

As André began preparing a simple French onion soup, Daichi watched with rapt attention, his eyes taking in every movement, every technique. This was the beginning of his new life, and he was ready to embrace it fully.

The aroma of herbs and spices filled the air, mingling with the warmth of the fireplace. Outside, the night was deep and quiet, but inside the tavern, a new story was beginning to unfold.

And thus, Daichi's journey in this new world truly began, with the promise of culinary adventures and the chance to fulfill his dream of becoming a great chef.
