Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A New World(not that one)

A/N: What do you guys think about some characters from other series being added as crewmates for roles that I cannot fill with the og cast(Like Doctor and Chef)? Of course after they would be appropriated for the world. I got some fun ideas for it but I would like to hear your opinions on it first.

~Yuji Liberio~

After the initial surge of excitement at the thought of being in the world of One Piece had died down I was finally able to look at things objectively.

First of all, as much as I loved One Piece, it was NOT a safe world. It certainly was no death world but it is definitely not safe. For hell's sake, giant sea Kaiju's eating your ship is not a rare occurrence.

And you need a ship to get anywhere in this world, because it has even more water than Earth. Although I wasn't hydrophobic, I didn't know the first thing about sailing.

Well, this version of my life did somewhat, he used to help his foster parents with managing their fishing boat. And there was also another problem.

Unlike most other worlds where the most important events are mostly centred on one location like a school or a single country, in One Piece everything was everywhere.

So... now that I was in One Piece, what was I going to do?

And speaking of, how do I get more tickets anyway? Gale sounds cool but I don't think it would do much against someone like Arlong who can lift houses and chuck them like styrofoam.

The people in this world were monsters, Ace was kicking trees over 2 meters thick in half while he was a child. I needed every advantage I could get my hands on if I wanted to be able to compete.

Information: Feats

Gacha tickets are achieved through feats, feats and achievements are actions that you accomplish, the more difficult and meaningful a feat is accomplished the better the reward for it.

I see, so it's telling me to not sit on my ass and start putting myself out there.

But still... what do I do? If I remember the memories of this body correctly, I should be roughly about at the start of One Piece canon with the news the birds keep dropping off in exchange for money.

So... if I wanted to thrive in this world, my best bet is probably grabbing Nami.

She is the best Navigator in the world and basically, the reason the Strawhats had such a good time sailing the Grand Line is because Nami is one of the, if not the best navigator in the world with her natural talent in it.

If I could add her to my crew it would be about the best start I could get.

...My crew? Right, I just automatically assumed I would be a pirate. Because the other options are no good.

Marines were a no-go, I already worked a government job before, and I am not going to waste my new life working for sea cops with the worst bosses in existence. I wanted to be free and being a Marine was not conducive to that.

My real goal was to become a bounty hunter briefly to cash in Buggy's bounty and have some starting capital before announcing my piracy. Well, I don't need to announce it, I could just do whatever I wanted to until they branded me as a Pirate.

But... both of those avenues required the same thing.

Setting sail and getting off of this island.

The Cartoccio Kingdom really did not have much on it that was worth my attention. And I didn't know shit about sailing, but I could probably brute force it by using Gale to drive my sails and a map.

But I needed a decent ship, the tale of my semi-parents tells me that it is beyond stupid to set sail with a fishing boat. Unfortunately, this body did not have enough in savings to buy anything close to a boat. My life savings were barely 100,000฿, which was not enough.

So, until I figured out how to set sail, I would practice, I give myself a single week of time. If I hadn't managed to find any way to set sail during that time, then I would go the direct pirate route and steal one.

No, I do not have enough morals to deter me from stealing a ship, I mean if it was a poor man's ship I wouldn't steal it but I was far too jaded to care about morality.

So, while I wait, I should test my superpower!

First, is there a status?

I noticed that Gale was in storage instead of my active slots and put it in. I was a bit disheartened from only having a single slot but I'm sure I'll be

able to gain more later right?

Explanation: Ability Slots

Active Ability Slots can be increased by either reaching a milestone in the amount of abilities you have or through quest rewards.

Nice, thanks system, how helpful.

Now, the moment I had slotted Gale in, I felt my perception change, my fingertips trembled with potential. I felt some sort of energy well up within me. I raised my hand, and with just a simple thought-

Woosh!

"Whoa!"

A burst of wind strong enough to throw a grown man into the air was released from my hand, scattering sea water and sand everywhere, I even saw some fish get flung into the air.

...That is so badass.

~Yuji Liberio~

It took me a slightly embarrassing amount of time to regain my composure after getting superpowers and start testing my limits. My control over Gale was good, not super good but it was good enough that it felt like I had been using it for a long time even if it were my first time using it.

After practising for an entire day, I managed to figure out some techniques I could do.

First was Fling, it was essentially me knocking them off their feet with a burst of wind before using more wind to fling them upwards. I tested it on a wooden log and was able to fling it over 10 meters into the sky.

Next was Wind Bomb, it took a bit for me to charge it by compressing a lot of air into one spot with my ability before releasing it as a projectile, the moment it meets a hard surface it explodes with enough force to shatter rock.

I tried to make a Wind Slash but I wasn't skilled enough for it just yet, the wind just dispersed when I tried to make it into a thin edge.

My level of power right now was strong enough to defeat beginner East Blue bastards. I could easily kill any non-powered human but anyone worth their salt is going to be able to take me out, even Axe Hand Morgan could split the earth with his swings. I needed more lethal power than Gale.

There was also the problem of Bullets. While I may have destructive power, I do not have defensive power, a bullet to the wrong spot will still kill me. I made a move to protect myself from bullets but I wasn't sure how good it would be.

Delta Stream creates a powerful airflow centred around me that spins around me, it should theoretically be able to divert bullets away from me, especially flintlock pistols. But it also disables the use of guns for me too, though I could still blast them with air so I still had the advantage.

Anyway, after having played around so much with Delta Stream I should probably head into the town to sell these.

I crouched down and grabbed the basket full of fish next to me.

You see, catching fish is really easy when you blast a portion of the water into the air and divert it towards the land.

This should get me a few thousand belly's. Or Beri, or Berry, I don't know how to spell it even with my native memories.

With my haul in my hands, I started walking towards Bascioala village, it wasn't that far from my shack, less than a kilometre. Although I didn't know what the hell the fish I caught were.

They resembled the fish back in my own world but they looked rather strange, like exaggerated. Well, this was One Piece so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

Bascioala Village came into view before long I had arrived in the village, it looked like a classic village, it was a rather large village with over 1000 people. The buildings did not go above 3 stories at the tallest. My feet carried me to the local fish market.

As I came in front of the store, the man behind the counter with greying hair and a large moustache looked up from the newspaper he was reading, his eyes washed over me with a hint of recognition.

"Oh, got a good haul for me Yuji?"

He was Grumb, a friend of my former fisherman parents and he was the guy who bought my fish and sold it in his own store. I put the basket on the counter and smiled.

"Yep, the fishes were really biting today. I guess Lady Sea was smiling at me today."

He smirked a little and got up from his chair to start appraising the fish.

"Yeah, I'd say. You gotta tell me what bait you used to catch this many. I'll pay you 5,000 for the entire haul." I nodded and we shook hands before he handed me my pay, a crisp... no not really crisp, a stack of old beri's.

Still, earning money like this felt satisfying. Definitely more fulfilling than having to ask my boss why my pay was late for the 5th day in a row.

Feat Achieved! Earn your first paycheck

+1x Bronze Trait Gacha.

Ooh, now that was good. I'll roll it when I'm alone just in case. I counted the bills(I remember him yelling at me when I didn't count them) and smiled.

"Thanks, old man."

The man waved me off and sat back on his stool.

"Yeah, yeah, you're welcome kid. But you better leave the village as soon as you can. Don' visit the bar."

I furrowed my brows.

"And why is that?"

He briefly glanced back up from his newspaper before going back to it, I could tell he was concerned.

"There are pirates in town. They landed 2 days ago and the bastards have been causing havoc, we have no Navy base here so there is no one to stop them either. They are holed up in the bar right now, don't lose your money or your life to them."

"I... see. Thanks, Old Man, guess I'll be cooking fish for dinner instead."

"You do that. Don't worry, they are not the first Pirates to visit our town."

I nodded and started walking away from his stall.

Pirates in town huh?

I smiled.

I could use that.

[New Quest! {Flag Hunting}]

[Quest: Flag Hunting]

Description: You are in need of money and a ship, and thankfully for you, there are pirates in town and really, no one would miss it if they were wiped off of the map. So do the villagers, and more importantly, yourself a favour and do some cleanup work.

Conditions:

-Drive the Kemper pirates out of Bascioala Village or Kill Them.

-Defeat Jobrio Kemper

Reward:

1x Gold Ability Gacha Ticket

1x East Blue Map

1x Compass

A/N: Gale is a great ability to start with, not as good as Water Manipulation in a world like One Piece but still incredibly good and versatile. But not nearly enough to contend with the Monsters of the One Piece world, even Arlong, the second proper boss was catching cannonballs in his teeth and uprooting houses.

Yuji starts with some East Blue Fodder pirates to test himself against, but as this is One Piece, even East Blue Fodder are still superhuman enough to pose a threat. Let's see how he tackles such a challenge.
