Chapter 92: Enemy Attack!
The palace of the Drum Kingdom sits atop the 5,000-meter-high Drum Peak. Apart from the cableway made of giant iron chains that allows cable cars to travel back and forth, there are no other paths. Of course, this excludes the method of a certain straw-hatted individual directly climbing it a few years later.
How to get up to the palace was not difficult for Buggy, but it was a troublesome matter.
Because of the incident with Dr. Hiriluk a few years ago, the Drum Kingdom palace had retracted the cableway to the summit. Unless people from the palace had business down the mountain, such as purchasing supplies, it would be shot down to the base. At all other times, the residents of the Drum Kingdom had basically no way to get to the palace.
The only method of contact was the Den Den Mushi, and it was in the hands of the palace guards stationed at the foot of the mountain.
Before leaving, Dr. Kureha had told Buggy this information. After understanding, Buggy directly led his pirate crew out of the residential area.
"Brother Buggy, how are we going to get up there? The weather is too cold, I don't want to use Moonwalk. Why don't we go take out those stationed guards and then trick the people in the palace into shooting down the cableway?" Betty, who hadn't complained about the cold at all while building snowmen, was now pulling on Buggy's hand and acting spoiled.
"Betty, this is a surprise attack. Attacking the outpost in advance might expose us. Although we're not afraid at all, it's better to have less trouble if we can. Seeing their companion fall, the Lapahn rabbits, whose eyes had originally shown fear, were instantly filled with bloodlust, and they charged directly at Buggy's group.
Of course, for the Red Nose Pirates, such an attack didn't even count as a warm-up. The battle was over before it began.
During the entire process, Buggy threw one punch, Hancock landed one kick, Betty used her ability to suffocate one into unconsciousness, Law used his ability space to directly chop the one attacking him into three pieces that struggled on the snow, and Daz Bonez's Thunder Dragon swallowed the remaining rabbits in one bite, leaving the aroma of cooked meat in its wake. As for Hawkins, he shamelessly stood behind Bonez, showing no rhythm of wanting to make a move at all.
"Captain, that guy Hawkins is slacking off again," Law said, quite disapprovingly.
"Captain, this kind of meat-shield type is too time-consuming for me to deal with. And I didn't cast any curses after coming ashore, so I left it to Brother Bonez," looking at Law, Hawkins then explained to Buggy.
"Alright, Law and Hawkins, both of you say a little less. It's important to hurry. I don't want to stay in this godforsaken place for a moment longer. The sooner we finish, the sooner we leave." Among the Red Nose Pirates, the only ones who might like the cold weather were probably cow 1 to cow 5.
After setting off again, because of the weather, almost no one spoke. Soon, the group arrived at the foot of Drum Peak.
Taking a few steps forward, Buggy extended his hand and placed it on the wall of Drum Peak. In the next second, he used his Chop-Chop ability. The palm that Buggy had placed on the mountain wall turned into a claw, and in an instant, it pulled out a huge block of stone from the wall.
After the stone block in his hand was thrown aside by Buggy, everyone discovered that the place where the stone had been removed had left behind a section of stairs recessed into the mountain wall.
Walking directly onto the stairs, and after a few steps reaching the end, Buggy once again stretched out his hand, grabbed another huge block of stone, and with another toss, Buggy continued upwards with the members of the Red Nose Pirates.
An hour later, when Buggy brought the members of the Red Nose Pirates to the summit, a recessed spiral staircase had appeared on the wall of Drum Peak.
No one would ever have thought that someone would use this method to climb a mountain.
Naturally, the guards in the Drum Kingdom palace couldn't have imagined it either. Plus, the cableway had not been lowered, so at this moment, none of the guards were standing outside the cold castle.
Walking to the castle's main gate, Buggy opened it with a light push.
Don't underestimate this light push. If it were anyone else, including Hancock and Mihawk, they absolutely would not have been able to open the castle gate. The reason was simple: they had no ability to break the door bolt.
Using his ability, it was all too easy for Buggy to break the bolt.
As soon as they walked into the castle, a furious roar rang out: "Who are you people?! How did you get to the summit, and how did you get into the castle?"
Looking up in the direction of the voice, a soldier in uniform, holding a musket, was aiming it at Buggy's group.
After a glance, Buggy headed directly for the spiral staircase in the center of the castle.
"Stop, you damn scoundrels!" As he spoke, that soldier fired a shot directly at Buggy's head.
In the next second, a scene that shocked the soldier appeared. Just before the round lead bullet could shatter the big red nose's head, the big red nose turned around, tapped the lead bullet with his finger, and with a crisp peng, the bullet turned into fine particles and scattered on the ground with the cold wind that blew in.
"Bastard! You dare to attack Brother Buggy?! You're courting death!" Just as the others were showing signs of wanting to make a move, Betty, who was following behind Hancock, had already acted.
Taking out her personal lighter and flicking it on, she opened her mouth and blew a stream at the soldier.
In just an instant, a jet of blue flame the thickness of an arm shot out, hitting the soldier's face in the blink of an eye.
A shrill scream immediately echoed through the castle.
"Enemy attack!"
Accompanied by the gunshot and the scream, everyone in the entire castle knew that someone had invaded.
At the very top of the castle, a door was opened, and three gorgeously dressed men walked out.
"Captain, let me take care of this," after speaking, Hawkins's figure disappeared from the back of the group. The next second he appeared, he was already in front of the soldiers who had rushed out.
After lightly tapping the opponent, Hawkins's figure disappeared, leaving a terrified and bewildered soldier on the spot.
A few breaths later, Hawkins, who had already touched a dozen or so soldiers, rushed towards the top of the castle at top speed.
At the same time, the first wave of arrows mixed with lead bullets rained down on the spot where Buggy's group was standing.
