CHAPTER FOUR
Lewis woke up to a sunny morning, he could see the sun ray that passed through his transparent window. The songs of bird were louder, coming from the tree just beside his room, "It's a beautiful day", Lewis said while facing the roof of his room.
Bing! Bing! Lewis took his ringing phone reluctantly. It was his secretary Lydia, who was calling.
Why will she be calling me by this time, Lewis spoke to himself.
He picked the call and slowly took it to his ears. "Yes Lydia, why calling this early", Lewis asked.
Lydia was Lewis Secretary and also the one that managed the scheduling of Lewis' appointment. "Good morning Sir", She responded, "Sorry sir, but its urgent, Mr. Bruno had emailed you yesterday and ask for rescheduling of the meeting you were supposed to have with him. He asked if the afternoon hours will be fine with you"
Lewis contemplated on what he would be doing at work during the day.
Lewis was an artist and one of the best around his vicinity. "Not much sir, apart from the normal routine work at the office" Lydia responded
Okay, call him and tell him that I will be available by 2:30pm during the day and we could meet at that time?" Lewis instructed.
"Okay, Sir," Lydia responded
Lewis cut the call, kept his phone and reached for the pillow which he used to cover his face. This girl drives me crazy. I think I am in love, he said while he took the pillow off his face.
Lewis kept a thoughtful face while he was thinking of Denise, his smiles became brighter as though he was recalling the fan moment he and Denise had.
She's the one for me he said, while getting off his bed. Lewis had thought of gifting Denise with something nice, he couldn't think of anything other than bags or Jewelries.
"I will get a jewelry" he said to himself, "but it looks like she would also need a new bag as well", he continued, while looking at himself in a mirror and trying to fix his tie. "Well, I can afford both, so I'll go with the both."
Lewis visited the boutique first and got her a bag before going to jewelry Store, where he met with the person who would attend to him.
"How can I help you Sir" She said. "Well, I need a lot of help here, Lewis responded and continued "I need a jewelry, it's for a lady I admire and want to impress her. Please, can you help me with something special" Lewis concluded.
The sale girl took him to a section in the store where more attractive jewelries were, she carefully picked a very beautiful necklace and bangles and earring that matched and handed it over to Lewis. He appreciated her and paid for them.
Lewis got into his house, car and headed for Mr. Davidson. On getting there, he stretched his hand toward the door handle but suddenly stopped. He had heard his uncle shouting. He opened the door and saw his uncle shouting and using insulting words on Denise.
He had overheard when he spoke of a broken plate, Lewis was disappointed at his uncle's actions on how he would rain such amount of insult on the poor girl for breaking just a plate, so he excused the uncle.
"Please Uncle, can I speak with you privately? Lewis asked Mr. Davidson.
"I hope there no problem," he responded with his chest still up, still fuming from the anger.
"Sorry Uncle, I saw you yelling and raining insult on Denise for breaking a plate, I really don't see a need raining such amount of insult on her, seeing this is the first time it's happening. So thought I could let you know, if you had taken it easier on her and maybe asked her how it happened. It would have been better."
Mr. Davidson, looked more furious, his face was stamped with anger, and he had folded knuckles as though he wanted to give Lewis a punch.
"You are lucky, you are related to me, if not I would have sent you out of my house", Mr. Davidson said and slammed the door at Lewis.
Lewis went to where Denise curled herself and sat beside her. "What really happened?"
Tears rolled down her cheek and fell from her chin. Lewis said as he drew her close to him. He laid her head on his chest while his left hand guarded her head on where he wanted her to place then.
He carefully used his right hand to rub gently and softly horizontally through her hair. "Its's okay. Stop crying."
Lewis said while using his two hands to take her head off his chest. He looked straight to her eyes. "Look at me, Denise. It's fine, stop crying. I got a gift for you, but might lose it if you don't put a smile on that face", Lewis said with big grin.
"Are you trying to bribe me into not crying?" Denise said with a faint smile on her face.
"If you say its bribe, then accept this my little bribe," Lewis took the bag he was holding and handed them over to Denise.
"Thank you," she said, her smile became brighter, and she looked into the bag and found a handbag and a package box.
"You have the right to say no if you aren't comfortable with it, but I would love to go on a date with you."
Lewis question came with shocking wave, it left Denise mute with her mouth open for some seconds.
"Okay! Lewis, I really appreciate what you do, but I would love to think about this. I will give you a response", Denise concluded.
Lewis looked a little bit disappointed because of his expectations. "That's fine, take your time," he said, trying to wave away his disappointment.
"Alright, Denise it's really nice having to speak with you but I'm afraid, I need to go to work" Lewis said, as he stood up and adjusted his clothe carefully.
"No problem, take care of you and I'll take care of me", Lewis concluded with a big grin as he made his way out of Mr. Davidson 's home.
