I was washing my clothes in the creek near the palace, and I wasn't alone. My friend Abby was with me with her clothes as well. We were talking casually, making simple conversations. Apparently, she's the type to stay low to stay out of trouble by being obedient and silent.
"How are you doing? Are you getting along with the prince?"
I turned to her, observing her expression. Although I do consider her a friend, I don't fully trust her. I don't really know anything about her, nor why she was asking me that.
I answered carefully, while she looked at me with a smile, "I'm getting along okay. He's a little weird, but not that bad."
She nodded and with a faint sigh that sounded like a relief. "That's good. Although he can be brutal, he's definitely a lot better than other vampires."
I tilted my head and asked, "Why's that?"
She revealed a sad smile. "Some vampires have a thing to torment their slaves and punish them for the slightest thing, even if they're innocent."
