Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Rattan Chair Under the Banana Tree

The air grew heavier, every breath thick with the overwhelming scent of jasmine.

Lin Ze's steps slowed as his camera locked onto the looming banana tree ahead. Beneath its wide, dark leaves sat a weathered rattan chair, worn and fragile, as if it would collapse under the slightest weight.

The chat exploded again.

* "Don't go any closer!!"

* "Bro, I'm begging you. RUN!"

* "Did you see that? Someone's sitting there!"

Lin Ze wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. His feet felt heavier with each step forward.

Finally, he stood right before the chair.

The faint light from his phone's flashlight caught something on the chair's back—a scrap of tattered white cloth. No… not just cloth. Up close, Lin Ze saw dark, crusted stains. **Blood?**

A chill rushed through his spine. Instinctively, his hand reached for the red string bracelet on his wrist.

It was gone.

His heart sank.

* "She's right behind you…"

* "Don't turn around! DON'T TURN AROUND!!"

But Lin Ze's body moved on its own. Slowly, his head turned.

Just a few steps behind him stood a figure in white.

Long, black hair completely covered her face. Her head tilted slightly to one side, and a pair of deathly pale feet peeked out from under the hem of her tattered dress—hovering inches above the ground.

The woman's lips slowly curled into a smile, but it wasn't human. Her mouth stretched impossibly wide, cracking to her ears, revealing blackened gums and jagged, blood-stained teeth.

Lin Ze's mind went blank with terror. His legs refused to move.

The woman raised her hand and pointed directly at the camera on his chest.

And then, the chatroom fell silent.

* "Did anyone… see her looking straight at us?"

* "Why do I smell jasmine in my room?"

* "My doorbell… it just rang!"

Lin Ze snapped out of his paralysis and bolted downhill, stumbling over roots and rocks. The ghostly laughter echoed all around him.

**"Hehehe…"**

The livestream shook violently as he ran, the camera catching flashes of distorted shadows and flickering lights.

The last thing the viewers saw before the screen cut to black was a close-up of the woman's ghastly face filling the entire screen.

Her empty eyes seemed to stare beyond the camera—directly at them.

Then came one final line in crimson red text:

[She has found you.]
