Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: after the magic

(Part One – The Sound of Reality)

The next morning, sunlight hit my eyelids like it had something to prove. I opened my eyes, but my heart was still up on that hill—somewhere between the stars and the sound of Mahan's breathing.

Everything felt… unreal. Like a dream too beautiful to belong to this world.

I stood in front of the mirror. The smile from last night still ghosted my lips, but behind it… was fear. A strange kind of fear that maybe that night was just a moment. Just magic, meant to fade with the morning.

My phone buzzed.

"Last night was really special."

I smiled. Then another message came in:

"But I don't know where we go from here."

My stomach dropped.

"What do you mean?" I typed.

But hours passed.

No reply.

(Part Two – The Void After the Light)

The days that followed, Mahan was there… but not really.

His texts grew shorter. Our talks, shallower. Even on the way to school, he didn't stop the bike anymore. Just a honk. Just a hello.

No one noticed.

But I did.

That tiny space between us—between magic and morning—it started growing.

One night, I decided to call him.

— "Hey."

— "Hey."

— "Can we talk?"

— "Kinda busy right now. Tomorrow?"

But tomorrow never came.

(Part Three – A Place for No One)

I went back to the hill. Alone.

The wind was colder. The silence, heavier. No music. No warmth. Just me and the stars that didn't shine the same.

"If that night was real… then why are we here now?"

The tears came. Uninvited. Quiet.

And a voice in my head whispered:

"That night was for that night. Not forever."

But I wanted forever.

Maybe we reached the top too fast. A place only the night, only dreams, only the two of us were allowed to touch.

And now…

It felt like time was pushing us back down.
