Chapter 18 - Running into That Girl Wutong

This God of Destruction… seems a little tsundere. Ming Hui opened his mouth slightly, murmuring this in his heart. He had the impression that the God of Destruction was somewhat displeased that he couldn't remember his face in the dream. That must be why he made a personal appearance—to give him a clear look. Clearly, even gods have their pride.

Unlike Tang San the daughter-con… utterly shameless!

When Ming Hui turned to look at the others, they were all bowing their heads. No doubt they'd been frightened by the sudden male voice from the sky just now.

There was no need to guess—it could only have been the God of Destruction speaking.

"Ahem." He turned toward Du Busi, coughing lightly in reminder. "Teacher, the two True Gods have already departed."

"Departed?" Du Busi still seemed to be in a daze, only coming to his senses after a moment.

What the—transfiguration magic?

His reaction startled Ming Hui, who exclaimed, "Teacher, you look younger! At least ten years younger!"

In his vision, many of the deep wrinkles on Du Busi's face had faded, his features now sharper and more defined, exuding vitality.

On the other side, Du Busi was also shocked as he studied his disciple. "Hui'er, your illness—is it gone?"

Although Ming Hui still had white hair, his complexion was no longer pale but rosy and radiant. His vitality was unmistakable.

"I—I think I've grown younger too!" someone exclaimed, the aged voice filled with disbelief.

"I feel like my illness is cured!" someone else perked up energetically.

"My old rheumatism is gone too! I can walk now!" Another person stood up, overwhelmed with joy.

One after another, people noticed changes in their bodies.

All of them turned their blazing gazes toward Ming Hui.

There was no question—all of this was thanks to the child before them. Without Ming Hui, the two True Gods would never have descended.

And for the two gods to show him such favor, Ming Hui's future was undoubtedly extraordinary—he might even become a god.

This child bears the potential to become a god!

Ming Hui's scalp tingled under all the attention. He quickly turned to his teacher, Du Busi. "Teacher, before the God of Destruction left, he revealed himself."

"Would you like me to recreate his appearance?"

"Of course!" Du Busi responded without hesitation, then swept his solemn gaze over the crowd.

"Everyone, return for now. Once the statue of the God of Destruction is completed, I will summon you to come and offer proper reverence. Also, remember what Hui'er said earlier—the doctrine of protection. From today on, it shall be the guiding principle of our Body Sect."

"Yes, Sect Master!" the crowd responded in unison.

"Furthermore," Du Busi continued, "everything that happened today—including what occurred with Hui'er—is not to be shared outside, not even a single word. Anyone who does will be punished according to sect law. As for the official explanation, I will consult with the elders and notify everyone later."

As he spoke, his gaze intentionally swept past Princess Vina.

"Yes, Sect Master!" Princess Vina responded just as firmly as the others, clearly understanding Du Busi's meaning.

A tree that stands out in the forest is the first to be felled.

Anything involving gods was bound to attract attention from all sides—and not all of it would be benevolent.

They couldn't risk bringing trouble to the sect, and especially not to Ming Hui, who had yet to mature fully.

Ming Hui clearly had the potential to become a god. For the Body Sect, this was of immense importance—it would determine their reputation, and the direction of their future development. One only had to think of the impact the first generation of Shrek's Seven Monsters had after becoming gods to understand what was at stake.

No one would be willing to pass up such an opportunity!

Du Busi nodded slightly, then turned to Ming Hui. "Hui'er, come with me."

He needed to properly examine his disciple's bodily changes.

Even having only been illuminated by the Light of Life for a brief moment, Du Busi could feel his own life force surge. It felt as though his lifespan had increased by decades. He now had far more confidence in one day breaking through to Rank 99.

If even he had changed this much, then what of his disciple who had been fully bathed in the Light of Life?

The mere thought made him excited. Without further word, he turned and headed inside.

"Yes, Teacher." Ming Hui followed closely.

The elders all trailed behind in unison. Looking at the small figure ahead of them, they felt their hearts ablaze with hope, filled with confidence in the future of the Body Sect.

"Hehe, Elder Three, I've broken through Rank 90," one elder grinned from ear to ear.

He had been stuck at Rank 89 for years, and now he had finally broken past the bottleneck. Nothing could bring him more joy.

"Good, good, good! Our Body Sect has gained another Title Douluo—worthy of celebration!" Elder Three's wrinkled face lit up in delight.

He, too, had benefited greatly from the Light of Life.

"Congratulations, congratulations!" The other elders who had also reaped rewards beamed in sincere congratulations.

Meanwhile, in the Divine Realm, the Goddess of Life had returned to her divine consciousness. Her eyes were tinged red with emotion as she looked sorrowfully toward her husband.

"Xiao Zi, I didn't think we'd meet an old friend like that again in such a way."

"Ah…" The God of Destruction, typically silent and reserved, let out a rare sigh. If it had only been a dream of the Divine Tree of Life, he might have assumed that the Eternal Gold they once saw in the Divine Realm had gained awareness. But dreaming of Evil and Kindness—that could only mean it was a former god.

After all, Evil and Kindness had already reincarnated to the lower realms long before the Eternal Gold had appeared.

Not to mention… he had seen a being that resembled the Dragon God.

Moreover, the scene Ming Hui described was very much like a vision seen in the final moments before death—what one sees just before falling.

That must have been a former god who had participated in that ancient war with them.

Thinking of this, their thoughts wandered back, trying to recall who it could have been.

Nothing. That war had been too chaotic.

The Goddess of Life fell into brief contemplation, then murmured, "If I'm not mistaken, his godhood was likely shattered in that war, and even his divine soul severely damaged—perhaps to the point that he lost part of his memory. That would explain why he couldn't recover his memories through the cycles of reincarnation or reclaim his divine position."

"After countless failed attempts, he must have sought a new path."

"The path of space and time—he must have stumbled upon it while lacking his past memories."

"And that time-space power sealed in his soul—it's likely from his past life. He was paving the way for this life."

As she spoke, her expression turned even more sorrowful.

"But… the positions of the God of Time and the God of Space are already taken."

"He won't succeed."

"Most likely, his last life ended in failure because of this exact reason."

"Xiao Zi, it's been so many ages since that battle. He's undergone too many reincarnations. That will keep eroding his memories. If this goes on… he'll eventually forget entirely who he once was."

"And when that happens, we'll lose this old friend forever."

"Xiao Lu, you know the rules," the God of Destruction sighed. Seeing a former comrade end up like this made him deeply uncomfortable—but rules were rules. "We cannot break them just because he was once our friend."

Countless years had passed. Times changed. And Ming Hui's case wasn't unique. The God of Destruction sighed again.

Many gods had fought in that war, but only a few still remained in the Divine Realm. Some had perished completely, their souls extinguished. Others, like Ming Hui, had been severely wounded and cast into reincarnation.

Some had returned—but they were very few.

Why hadn't more returned? Because they had lost their memories and divine essence to the cycles of rebirth. They were no longer gods in any real sense.

He had once searched the lower realms himself, hoping to offer aid to any returning gods—after all, they had sacrificed themselves for the Divine Realm.

But with billions upon billions of lives in the lower planes, not even a God-King could find them all—especially those whose divine essence had faded. The Divine Realm couldn't even sense their existence. Only when they cultivated to a high level and restored their memories could they try to reconnect.

Just like Ming Hui had done—by creating faith and drawing their attention.

But even so, the divine positions were fixed. He couldn't just create a new one out of thin air for someone to inherit.

"However," the God of Destruction's tone suddenly shifted, laced with a touch of sarcasm and cold amusement, "these days, there are quite a few gods in the Divine Realm who are tired of divine life and want to pass on their godhood and leave."

"In that case, perhaps they can make room."

"With that child Ming Hui's potential, I imagine many would be more than willing. However…"

He paused, then said, "Xiao Lu, let's leave this for after he grows stronger."

"All the gods who fought in that war earned their positions themselves—it's their pride. An inherited godhood will always be someone else's legacy. If he regains his memory in the future, he might not want to become a god through such means."

"So… let's let him grow and choose his own path."

"If he can forge a new path in this life, that would be best—something that truly suits him."

"But if not, we can always recommend a god to approach him later."

"That's fine too," the Goddess of Life nodded gently.

Then as if suddenly remembering something, she smiled softly.

"I wonder what kind of mischief will happen if that girl Wutong runs into him down in the mortal world?"
