Chapter 14 - Carnage : Dance with a Sword

The gleaming double-edged sword, sang a deadly song as Ruel moved.

A blur of lethal grace against the encroaching tide of rotting flesh.

His eyes, devoid of any fear, held a predatory gleam, a stark contrast to the terror that had gripped the others.

A grimly amused smirk played on his lips. "Come on, you ugly bastards. Didn't your mothers teach you not to interrupt?"

The first zombie lunged, its decaying hands reaching.

With a swift, almost casual flick of his wrist, Ruel sidestepped, the razor-sharp edge of his sword slicing through the creature's outstretched arm with a wet thwack.

The severed limb flopped uselessly to the ground, twitching. "Oops. Bit too eager, weren't you?"

Ruel quipped, his tone light, almost conversational, as if swatting a bothersome fly.

Another zombie stumbled forward, its guttural moan filling the air.

Ruel's left hand shot out, his fingers clamping around its ear, yanking hard.

A sickening tear followed by a wet squelch echoed as the ear ripped free, dangling grotesquely in his grip.

The zombie shrieked, its remaining eye wide with a primal agony.

"Lost your hearing? Don't worry, you won't need it where you're going." With a brutal downward chop, the sword cleaved through the zombie's neck,

its head lolling at an unnatural angle before separating completely, hitting the ground with a dull thud.

A third zombie, its mouth agape, lunged for his face.

Ruel's reaction was lightning fast. He plunged his fingers deep into its open maw, hooking its slimy tongue.

With a sharp tug, he ripped the appendage free, the zombie gagging and flailing.

"Cat got your tongue? Should have kept it to yourself." He then brought his sword down in a swift, merciless arc, bisecting the creature from shoulder to waist, its putrid innards spilling onto the grimy terrace.

Two more zombies advanced simultaneously.

Ruel, a whirlwind of deadly motion, spun, his sword a silver arc of death.

He thrust the blade deep into the eye socket of one, the zombie letting out a choked, wet gurgle before collapsing.

"Seeing stars now, are we?" He didn't linger, his other hand shooting out to grab the wrist of the second zombie.

With a sharp twist, he dislocated the joint, the zombie's hand flopping uselessly.

"Having a bad day, pal? Let me make it permanent." A final, brutal slash across the zombie's throat silenced its moans forever.

He moved through the small cluster of infected with a terrifying efficiency, each movement precise, each strike lethal.

He wasn't just killing them; he was dismantling them, reducing them to grotesque, twitching heaps of gore.

His face held a grimly satisfied smirk, a dark pleasure in the carnage.

"Anyone else feeling brave? Come on, don't be shy." His voice, though calm, held an undercurrent of dangerous amusement,

a clear indication that this was more than just survival for him.

This was a twisted form of entertainment.

Mei Feng watched, a horrifying fascination warring with the terror in her eyes, as Ruel, the seemingly unassuming stranger, revealed a brutal, terrifying skill.

-

Ruel, his sword dripping with viscous, black blood, turned back to Mei Feng, a grimly reassuring smile on his face.

Her eyes were wide, a horrifying mix of terror and bewildered awe etched upon them.

"Don't worry. This won't take long. Just a little pest control." His voice, though calm, held a dangerous edge, a promise of swift, brutal efficiency.

Making her heart skip a beat.

Then, with a sudden, explosive burst of speed, he lunged towards the open stairwell, where the groaning, clawing horde was beginning to spill onto the terrace.

"Out of my way, you festering sacks of meat!" he roared, his figure a blur as he descended.

Mei Feng gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, her eyes glued to Ruel's terrifying display.

Wherever his foot landed on the grimy steps, a sickening thwack echoed, followed by the wet thud of a severed head rolling down the stairs.

The air filled with the stench of decay and the metallic tang of fresh blood.

He moved like a whirlwind, his double-edged sword a silver arc of death in the dim light of the stairwell.

"Come on, you clumsy bastards! Can't even climb properly!" He taunted, his smirk widening as he effortlessly decapitated two zombies in a single fluid motion.

Their headless corpses tumbled down the stairs, limbs flailing uselessly.

He leaped down several steps at once, his sword a relentless chopper against the rising tide of undead.

"Just like dicing onions, really. Except these onions try to eat your brains." He punctuated his morbid humor with swift, brutal strikes,

cleaving through necks, severing limbs, reducing the climbing horde to a gruesome pile of dismembered remains.

Mei Feng, her legs trembling uncontrollably, found a strange, morbid courage stirring within her.

The sheer spectacle of Ruel's deadly ballet, the utter annihilation he was inflicting, was both terrifying and strangely… liberating.

She took a tentative step towards the stairwell, her eyes fixed on his descending form, a silent, horrified fascination pulling her forward.

The monstrous roars were being replaced by the sickening sounds of Ruel's carnage, a testament to his terrifying skill.

She had to follow him, even if every instinct screamed at her to flee.

He was a force of nature unleashed, and for now, he was her only hope.

-

After a short time of play,

Ruel reached the bottom of the stairwell, the carnage trailing behind him like a gruesome tapestry.

The groaning and snapping of bone had become significantly less frequent, the immediate threat on the terrace and stairs neutralized.

He stood amidst a pile of dismembered corpses, his sword dripping, a satisfied, if slightly blood-spattered, smirk on his face.

"Well, that was a decent warm-up."

Mei Feng, her face pale but her steps slightly steadier now, cautiously descended the last few steps, her eyes wide as she surveyed the scene.

The sheer brutality of Ruel's efficiency was both horrifying and undeniably effective. Thinking in her mind "Although i knew he was strong, but didnt know that he would be this strong. Maybe he was going easy on me in on the bed" She blushed as she thaought of this.

Suddenly, a renewed, more unified roar echoed from outside. Ruel's head snapped up, his smirk widening into a predatory grin.

"Ah, sounds like the neighbors decided to join the party." He could hear the unmistakable surge of movement, the frantic shuffling and moaning growing rapidly louder.

"Did someone stirred up a hornet's nest??"

Through the shattered remnants of the main door, a wave of infected could be seen surging towards the building, their numbers far greater than the initial few.

They moved with a single-minded purpose, drawn by the sounds of chaos, a grotesque tide of rotting flesh and gnashing teeth.

Mei Feng gasped, her earlier semblance of courage threatening to crumble. "Oh no... there's so many..." Her voice was a choked whisper, her eyes wide with renewed terror.

Ruel, however, simply hefted his bloodied sword, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

"Don't worry. More targets, more fun." He took a step towards the doorway, his stance widening, his body coiled and ready.

The approaching horde seemed to invigorate him, a thrill of the hunt replacing any sense of fear.

As the first wave of zombies poured through the broken entrance, Ruel launched himself forward, a whirlwind of lethal motion.

"Come on, you rotting bastards! Line up for your execution!" His sword flashed, carving through the tightly packed bodies with sickening ease.

Heads rolled, limbs were severed, torsos were bisected, each strike precise, each kill swift and brutal.

He moved through the mass of undead like a phantom, his sword a silver scythe reaping a gruesome harvest.

"Hehehe" He laughed, a low, exhilarating sound amidst the carnage.

"Having a bad day? Let me make it infinitely worse!" He spun, taking out three zombies with a single, sweeping arc.

The air was thick with the stench of death and the wet sounds of his relentless slaughter.

Even the sheer number of the approaching horde seemed insignificant against his terrifying skill.

Mei Feng watched, a horrfied awe gripping her, as Ruel stood as a lone, blood-soaked sentinel against the overwhelming tide.
