Rachel stumbled back into her tiny apartment, looking completely disheveled.
It had only been a few days since she left on New Year's Eve, but it honestly felt like a whole lifetime had passed.
The small room seemed to give off this cold, empty feeling that reached deep into her bones.
Rachel let out a bitter smile.
From now on, it'd just be her, alone in this place again.
No one to keep her company.
No one to talk to late at night.
No one to call her "sister" with a warm smile anymore.
She grabbed some clean clothes and went straight to the bathroom, trying to scrub away all the grime and exhaustion.
Afterward, she started tidying up the apartment.
Even though Jeffrey had only stayed for a short while, his presence was everywhere.
His used dishes, towels, toothbrush, even his clothes and shoes, were still scattered around.
Rachel carefully gathered all of it and placed the items into a cardboard box.
She didn't even know why she didn't just throw it all away.
