Chapter 6 - C6

After the failed mission, the tension between them was at an all-time high. They couldn't believe that everything they worked for was now at risk. The loss was too big to ignore, and everyone started pointing fingers.

Mark slammed his fist on the table in the dim-lit room where they gathered. "It's someone's fault here! We can't just lose everything like this."

Robert, his face red with anger, shot back, "You think I don't know that? But blaming each other won't bring it back!"

Jack just sat there, looking at the ground, his face emotionless. John, standing near the window, was lost in thought. He knew he had to figure this out before things got worse.

"Enough!" John finally said, his voice firm. "Arguing won't solve anything. We need to find out who messed up."

Mark glared at him. "And how do we do that? We can't trust anyone now."

John looked at each of them, his eyes sharp. "I'll handle it."

That night, John secretly assigned some of his men to follow the others. He needed to know what they were up to, who they were talking to. He couldn't risk losing everything they had built.

A few days later, he received a call from one of his men who was tailing Jack. His heart sank as he listened to the report.

"Boss, Jack met with a guy last night. It was Santino, the drug lord from the East Side."

John's blood ran cold. Santino was a dangerous man, and if Jack was involved with him, it could only mean trouble. John felt a sense of betrayal. Could Jack really do this to them?

He decided to confront him. The next day, he called everyone to an old house on the outskirts of the city, a place they used to go when they were just kids.

When they arrived, the tension was thick. John didn't waste time. He turned to Jack, his eyes filled with anger and hurt.

"What were you doing with Santino?" John asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Jack looked surprised, but he didn't say anything. His silence only made John more furious. Without warning, John grabbed Jack by his collar and slammed him against the wall.

"You think we wouldn't find out? You're the reason we lost everything!" John shouted, his voice echoing in the empty room.

Mark and Robert were shocked. They tried to pull John away, but he pushed them back.

"Why, Jack? Why did you betray us?" John's voice was desperate now.

Jack, breathing heavily, finally spoke, his voice shaking. "I did it... I met Santino because... I wanted something more."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Robert snapped.

Jack looked at them, his eyes filled with a strange mix of guilt and pride. "You guys were my only family, but I felt alone. I wanted to be someone bigger, someone powerful. Santino offered me a deal. A deal to be the king of the drug empire. He promised me everything, more than we could ever dream of."

Mark looked at him in disbelief. "You did all this for power? You ruined us for that?"

Jack's face twisted in anger. "You don't understand! I wanted to be more than just one of us. I wanted to make my own mark!"

John's fists tightened. "You threw us under the bus for your own ambition?"

Jack's eyes were wild now. "Yes, I did! And I would do it again. Because you guys never understood me!"

That was it. John couldn't hold back anymore. He punched Jack, and everything exploded. Mark and Robert joined in, their anger too much to control.

Jack fought back, swinging his fists, trying to defend himself. But he was outnumbered. The fight was brutal, filled with shouts, curses, and the sound of fists hitting flesh. Blood splattered on the walls as they beat him, all their pain, betrayal, and rage coming out.

Finally, Jack fell to the ground, barely conscious. John, his knuckles bloody, looked down at him with tears in his eyes.

"Why, Jack? We were brothers..."

Jack, his face a mess of blood and bruises, whispered, "I just wanted to be someone…"

Without another word, John delivered the final blow. Jack's body went limp, and silence filled the room.

The three of them stood there, staring at what they had done. Their childhood friend, the one who shared their dreams, their struggles, now lay dead because of betrayal.

They left the house in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The city that had once been their empire now felt cold and empty. They had built it together, but now it felt like it was crumbling beneath them.

They knew there was no turning back from this. The betrayal, the loss, the blood on their hands—it would haunt them forever.
