Chapter 5 - The Confrontation

Sophia's smile seemed to hide a thousand secrets. "Liam, I think we've reached a turning point," she said, her voice dripping with calculation.

I stood firm, armed with the knowledge I'd uncovered. "I've seen the documents, Sophia. I know what Eclipse really is."

Her expression didn't change, but I detected a flicker of interest. "And what do you think it is, Liam?"

"It's a power play," I said, my voice steady. "You're using us all for your own gain."

Sophia chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "You'd be surprised what I'm capable of, Liam. And what you're willing to do."

The air was thick with tension. I knew I had to tread carefully, but I was determined to

Sophia's words hung in the air, laced with a threat. I met her gaze, unflinching. "I'm not afraid of you," I lied.

She raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Perhaps you should be. You're playing with forces beyond your control."

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. She answered, listening intently. Her expression darkened.

"Excuse me, Liam," she said, her voice icy. "It seems we have a problem."

She stepped aside, speaking in hushed tones. I strained to listen, catching snippets of conversation.

"...leak...contain...eliminate..."

My instincts screamed warning. I knew I had to get out fast.

I turned to leave, but Sophia's voice stopped me. "Liam, don't think about leaving. We need to discuss your...involvement."

I spun around, a plan forming. "I think I've heard enough."

With a swift move, I grabbed her phone, ending the call. "You're not the only one with connections," I said, making a bold claim.

Sophia's eyes narrowed. "You'd regret crossing me, Liam."

I smiled, a calculated risk. "I'm willing to take that chance."

The air crackled with tension. Would I escape or get caught in Sophia's web?
