Chapter 47 - 47

"What? Rehabilitated?"

The whole Lu family looked at each other in confusion.

Father Lu even blurted out his question unconsciously.

Could it be that Freya's grandmother found a way to help them, or maybe his father's old comrade?

"What? You still don't know?"

Secretary Wang looked speechlessly at Freya's innocent face, then turned to the stunned Lu family and began explaining the situation.

"So, in at most half a month, you'll be able to return to the capital," Secretary Wang concluded.

"Aiya, child, that was so dangerous. Why did you go with them?

Are you hurt, huh?"

Madam Wan rushed over, snatched the flashlight from Father Lu's hand, and grabbed Freya, inspecting her up and down like an X-ray scanner.

"I'm fine. I'm really strong." Freya let her check without resisting.

Grandpa Lu beamed with joy. "Hahaha, good. Even though we suffered a lot, if it helped Freya grow up and become sensible, it was worth it."

Father Lu also looked at his daughter with pride. She truly was a child of the Lu family. Even though she took a wrong turn in life, she found her way back and made up for her mistakes. That was good enough.

"Wow, we can go home. Sister, you're amazing." the two little ones cheered, looking at Freya with admiration in their eyes.

Freya looked at their excited and relieved expressions and noticed there was no blame, only support. She couldn't help but admire how big-hearted they were. If someone had done that to her, she would've slapped them long ago.

"By the way, Uncle Wang, about helping the brigade prosper, I do have some ideas. Let me refine the plan first and then share it with you. I'll take them over myself. You go ahead, it's getting late."

Freya originally intended to use that as an excuse, but seeing how much this old man cared about her, she decided to seriously consider a good project. She could even earn some money herself. Who doesn't like more money.

"You really have an idea. Then write it up for me soon.

Sigh, our brigade is really poor. Some people still don't have enough to eat. I worry so much, I get more white hairs every day."

Secretary Wang sighed about the hardship, while touching his smooth, bald head.

"Hahaha, Uncle Wang, maybe it's not more hair, it's just falling out more. You're brilliant to the point of baldness."

Freya couldn't help but stare at his shiny scalp and teased him.

"Pah, you brat, no manners.

But 'brilliant to the point of baldness,' that's a good one. I must be too clever and that's why I lost all my hair.

Hahaha, I'll be off now. You all catch up. If anyone asks, just say I asked you to help escort them."

Secretary Wang laughed heartily, lifted his torch, and walked away.

"You, using 'brilliant to the point of baldness' like that?

Still, Secretary Wang is a good man. Worth being friends with. Much more decent than that Captain Shan."

Grandpa Lu shook his head with a smile, then playfully pointed at Freya's forehead from a distance.

"Yeah, that old man's pretty decent." Freya nodded in agreement.

"Your foot, are you alright?" Father Lu asked with concern after Secretary Wang had walked off.

"Ahem, I'm fine. Didn't really use much strength." Freya scratched her braided hair awkwardly, caught red-handed when she had intended to keep a low profile.

After all, she had damaged public property a little… feeling a bit guilty.

"The cow shed was knocked down by Freya!" Father Lu looked at his confused family members, the corners of his lips slightly curved as he explained to them.

He hadn't expected his daughter to be so strong. What looked like casual kicking and hitting had caused two entire cow sheds to collapse instantly.

What?

The Lu family all looked at her feet at the same time, then gave her a big thumbs-up. Impressive.

"Hahaha! Mainly it was because it smelled too bad in there. The environment was horrible. If you lived there too long, you'd probably get sick."

This family is really funny.

Freya was amused by their synchronized gestures and burst into laughter. After a moment, she smiled and explained.

"Freya, you've really grown up. Looks like we won't have to worry about you much in the future. But your husband, bring him here to meet us when there's a chance. Just don't hold resentment against him because of his injured leg. That's a badge of honor. When you go back to Beijing, take him with you. We'll find more doctors to check. There's always hope."

Father Lu said even though the villagers didn't associate with them, they still heard things.

Though he's from the countryside, he's a decent young man. They said he got promoted to deputy commander at such a young age. What a pity.

"It's fine, don't believe all the gossip. He just has a minor injury. He'll recover with time," Freya replied. To her, it really wasn't that serious.

"That's good, that's good. As long as it can be treated." Madam Wan patted her chest in relief. She would never do something like persuade her daughter to divorce when things got tough. After all, her daughter had used less-than-honorable means to force the marriage. But she still worried about her daughter's future. If it could be cured, then all the better.

While they were talking, they arrived at the thatched hut, the same one where the villagers had once caught Trina cheating.

Freya brought them there and told them to wait patiently. She also left them plenty of food and several sets of clothes before heading off. She still had things to do.

Freya looked around to make sure no one was nearby, then pulled a small electric scooter from her space. She got on and sped toward the town, to the home of Daxing, Biyun's husband.

Twenty minutes later, Freya climbed over the wall into Daxing's house. Inside, Daxing was cuddled up and sound asleep with another woman.

What a disgusting man, cheating and even selling the wife he had lived with for over ten years.

And that shameless woman who knowingly got involved with a married man, disgusting.

With a look of disgust, Freya pried open their mouths and fed each of them a sleeping pill to make sure they wouldn't wake up until the next day, just in time for their own family to catch them in the act.

Then she added another pill that would cause long-term weakness and occasional full-body pain.

Slow, painful punishment was much more fun.

After giving the pills, Freya glanced around their bedroom in disgust. It was only slightly better than the Xiao family's house.

She didn't look too carefully. There wouldn't be anything valuable anyway.

Her eyes twinkled with mischief. She touched everything that could be moved, including the bed they were sleeping on and even the thin blanket they were using, and stored it all into her space.

"I really am such a kind sister-in-law." Freya said smugly, standing with her hands on her hips as she looked down at the naked couple sleeping on the floor.

Ugh, such an eyesore.

Then she turned and left the bedroom, raided the kitchen, and cleaned it out completely.

Finally, she arrived at the room of the wicked mother-in-law, Madam Zhou.

Freya looked around suspiciously. There was no sign of the three sisters.

Forget it, she'd grab the stuff first.
