Chapter 32 - 32

"Okay, I agree. I'll contact the higher-ups as soon as I get back.

Officer Duiz, please arrange your men and have them ready just in case." Mr. Zhao sighed helplessly and didn't say more, knowing he had upset someone.

After all, if his own family was in danger, he'd also do everything he could to save them.

Officer Duiz nodded in agreement, his eyes showing some excitement—he hadn't been in a good fight for a long time.

He had a strong feeling that what Freya said was true, and he didn't think she was someone who would make baseless claims.

"So, what should I do then?" He felt a bit unnecessary now.

"Honestly, you don't need to do anything. Keeping you here is just so when things go well, you'll share in the credit. It'll help clean up our team's image and restore some reputation."

Freya looked at the excited old man, who looked ready to grab a gun and charge ahead, and couldn't help but glance at him with a smirk before speaking plainly.

Instantly, the tense mood disappeared.

Secretary Wang… What a lucky deal!

Officer Duiz and Mr. Zhao… This girl is way too straightforward, not even trying to hide anything! She really doesn't treat them as outsiders.

"You… be more subtle!" Brian patted her hand lovingly and said helplessly.

"Alright, I'll be more careful next time!" Freya shrugged and gave Brian a gentle smile.

Everyone else… felt like their titanium-plated dog eyes were about to go blind.

Once everything was agreed upon and the others had left, the two of them returned to their room.

"Aren't you working today?" Freya asked.

"I took time off. I won't go in for the next few days. I'll wait until there's some result on your side.

And don't be too anxious. The information you provided is very tempting. They'll definitely agree.

Your grandpa stepped down early. He probably didn't get involved in the higher-level conflicts. They'd be happy to play the good guy."

Brian noticed Freya was too eager and had lost her calm, so he tried to comfort her.

"I'm fine, don't worry! I'm confident.

As long as you don't think I'm being selfish!" Freya sat on Brian's lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and acted cute.

"Never. They're our family. Of course we should do everything we can to help. I'm not made of wood." Brian chuckled and pinched her pretty face.

"Mua, Comrade Brian, that's your reward." Freya looked at his handsome face for two seconds and couldn't help but give his sexy lips a kiss.

"Comrade Freya, are you sure that was a reward and not just an excuse to take advantage of me?" Brian's mouth curled up as he kissed her back.

"Ah, you're so bad, Brian!

Hmph, I was trying to take advantage of you. So what? Bite me!"

Freya admitted her sneaky intent boldly and gave him several more kisses, clinging to him.

"Freya! I want you!" Brian's breathing quickened under her teasing. He held her face and kissed her passionate red lips.

"You're naughty, Brian, trying to do this in broad daylight." Freya teased him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, responding with passion.

Two days later.

At 1 a.m., Freya led Mr. Zhao and 30 elite soldiers from the army, quickly making their way through the deep mountains.

Forty minutes later, the group arrived at the large tree where the enemy agents were hiding.

"Comrade Freya, everyone is in place. If we hadn't checked under the tree ourselves, I would never have believed such a big tree could be an entrance. I guess I still haven't seen enough in this world."

Mr. Zhao whispered to Freya. Unlike when they first met, full of gratitude, now his tone carried respect and consultation.

After all, everyone respects the strong, right?

"Okay, then let's do what we discussed yesterday. If they come in separate groups, we'll take each one down as they come."

Freya looked around cautiously, then pulled two binoculars out of the cloth bag slung across her shoulder. She handed one to Mr. Zhao.

"Hey, Comrade Freya, you've got something this good?"

"This doesn't look like the ones we usually use."

"It's so clear! I can see really far! Where'd you get this treasure?"

"Found it in the mountains," Freya replied casually.

"You really have a knack for finding things!" Mr. Zhao praised, though he thought secretly, She probably intercepted something left by some spy.

Mr. Zhao secretly glanced at Freya, who was scanning the distance with the binoculars, and couldn't help thinking about what happened that afternoon.

"Hahaha, Comrade Freya, the higher-ups have agreed. As long as we get results this time, they'll help clear your family's name."

"So now, can you tell me the location? Also, when are they going to move? I want to gather all the info as soon as possible."

Mr. Zhao was excited—not only because he could earn merit, but also because he was happy that someone like Grandpa Lu, who had dedicated his life to the country, could finally have his name cleared.

"I have one more condition. This involves my family's future, so I must go with you," Freya said firmly, looking straight at the excited Mr. Zhao.

"What? Are you joking? Do you even know how dangerous this mission is?

Those spies are ruthless killers. You think this is some kind of sightseeing trip?

You're basically trying to snatch food from a tiger's mouth. Completely reckless!

I can't agree to this condition."

Mr. Zhao's smile froze, and he refused angrily.

"Mr. Zhao, keep your voice down. Walls have ears," Brian reminded him softly, trying to ease the tension.

Freya had already discussed this with him. He didn't agree at first, but later that night, she sweet-talked him until he let his guard down and agreed.

Sigh, what a mistake! I really need to resist her sweetness better in the future, he thought.

"You don't want me to go because you're worried I'll get hurt, and you think I'll slow you down, right?

Then let's spar for a bit. If you win, I won't go. How's that?" Freya offered, ignoring his angry outburst. She had to go—there was no room for mistakes in this mission.

"You little girl, trying to show off in front of me? Don't overestimate yourself.

Just because you helped catch two human traffickers doesn't mean you're invincible!"

Mr. Zhao looked at the girl who barely reached his chin, both amused and annoyed by her boldness.

"Mr. Zhao, let's just settle this with our fists. No more talking. We still need to prep the plan. Those spies will be gathering early tomorrow to transport the goods," Freya said, rolling her eyes. With all the time they'd spent arguing, the fight would've been over by now.

"Arrogant! Brian, this is your wife's idea. If she ends up with bruises, don't come blaming me."

"I won't blame you. Just be careful too, and protect yourself," Brian said, rubbing his forehead and smiling helplessly. Judging by his wife's attitude, it wasn't clear who would end up bullying whom.
