Victor Chronis sat on his bed, staring at the strange clock in his hand. It was small, old-looking, and made of shiny brass. But the weirdest part was the glowing button in the center.
It ticked softly, even though no batteries were inside.
"Where did this come from?" Victor mumbled.
He turned it over again. The glow from the button pulsed—slow and steady—like a heartbeat.
Victor felt nervous. But at the same time… something inside him wanted to press it.
So he did.
The ticking stopped. For a moment, everything was quiet.
Then, suddenly, the hands on the clock began to spin fast, too fast. The gears inside moved like crazy. The light from the button grew brighter, and the room around Victor started to shake.
