Chapter 6 - Classic Match (3)

Seunghoon guided Valea down the lane once more, her character gliding smoothly across the terrain. The river's water glistened under the in-game light.

The enemy was playing safe now. Yeans and Rauein had returned to their lane, but they were keeping their distance, unwilling to risk another dive and be killed. Their aggression was now gone.

Yeans lingered near the turret, throwing out the occasional chain to zone them, while Rauein focused on last-hitting the minions from the safety of the backline.

"They're scared now, huh?" Seunghoon muttered, adjusting his grip on the mouse.

He and Lolo09 kept the pressure up. They froze the lane just outside the enemy turret, hoping that the two would be impatient. Seunghoon used to punish any oversteps that made it hard for the enemy to find an opening.

Another ping lit up the minimap.

[WhiteLotus]: Turtle in 30.

Seunghoon immediately typed back.

[Red]: On the way. I got a ward.

They pushed the wave on the bottom lane one last time, then slipped into the river again. Seunghoon placed a ward in the monster' pit, a circular arena nestled between the jungle paths and river. It was surrounded by thick fog and rocky cliffs on one side.

The Monster Pit was where the game's epic jungle monsters spawned.

These powerful neutral monsters could shift the balance of the match when slain, granting massive buffs or pushing power to the team that secured them.

Each game featured two distinct monster pits—one near the bottom lane and one near the top. Each spawned a different kind of epic monster depending on the timer.

In the pit closest to bot lane, the Magical Turtle would spawn every five minutes during the early to mid-game.

Seunghoon remembered its effect clearly. It granted a temporary shield and bonus gold to the entire team, along with a scaling defensive and damage buff for a short duration.

At the top monster pit, the counterpart of the turtle, the Gravestone Warden, would spawn on a similar timer. It also provided a shield and gold, but with a focus on bonus armor and magic resist, ideal for surviving team fights and sieging towers.

"Turtle's ours if we play this right," Seunghoon muttered.

WhiteLotus appeared in the river, already sweeping the enemy's ward to deny enemy's vision. Lolo09 hovered on the edge of the bush, and Valea took her position near the pit's mouth.

Every second mattered now.

If they could secure the turtle cleanly, they'd walk away with a lead and a defensive buff that could help push the bot lane even further.

Just as the timer ticked down, the river rumbled, and the Magical Turtle emerged. The Magical Turtle was massive, its shell glowing with enchanted runes, stomping forward slowly with a heavy growl.

"Let's take it," Seunghoon said out loud, though no one could hear him.

The three descended into the pit and began chipping away at the Magical Turtle's health. It moved slowly, but its hits were heavy and deliberate, its every stomp echoed through the stone walls.

But Seunghoon knew it wasn't a threat to be feared. They had burned through a third of its health when the first ping flashed on the map.

[Jamino]: Enemy Top TP.

Seunghoon cursed under his breath.

A glowing vortex spun behind the pit. It was teleport.

Seunghoon immediately pinged it.

[Red]: Enemy nearby.

Lolo09 slowly backed off. WhiteLotus stopped attacking and vanished into the fog of war hugging the pit wall while Seunghoon had Valea slip into the brush nearby, where she could stay hidden but close enough to react.

The teleport finished.

Loigi0 emerged in a second. His shield raised with full HP and ult ready.

Lolo09 responded with immediate pressure, unloading rounds before Loigi0 could engage. WhiteLotus blinked behind the enemy's top, seeking a flank. Seunghoon triggered Guardian Shield, a golden shimmer wrapped around Siv and Valea just as Loigi0 slammed his hammer into the ground, knocking them up.

Then came Yeans's hero, Mira. She snapped her chains across the river. One shot out toward Lolo09, the other toward WhiteLotus. But Valea's pulsed, slowing the enemies as she revealed her presence with a surge of radiant energy.

Yeans hesitated for just a moment.

WhiteLotus quickly reengaged. Siv kicked backward, keeping space. Seunghoon ctivated granting movement speed to his close allies.

And then.

Another presence flickered on the map's edge.

Sweetpie. The enemy mid.

"Four?! You've got to be kidding me."

But the counterplay had already begun.

[YameteKudasai]: Ooof. I'm on my way.

From the left jungle, a streak of lightning zipped forward. Eliria, played by YameteKudasai, blinked into the pit, unleashing a cone of elemental fury that slammed into Nexa and Yeans.

Seunghoon quickly readied his first skill when he saw the enemies clumping together on one side.

The enemies were quickly slowed by a divine energy. Without a choice, everyone knew by then that it was important to fight back. Just like that, a dance of skills and combos happened.

[YameteKudasai has slain an enemy.]

"Go, go, go!" Seunghoon shouted, his hands a blur across the keys. He gripped his mouse tightly as his heart thumped out loud.

"Fuck! This is what I miss! This thrill!"

With the enemy's support gone, Valea rose into the air.

Ultimate activated.

A radiant burst exploded from her form, stunning the enemies in a wide area with her divine energy. It was the opening they needed.

Siv pressed his own R. His bullets scattered like fireworks across the battlefield. Louigi0 took a hit, then another, and another.

[Double Kill!]

[Triple Kill!]

Only Yeans remained, limping, retreating toward the river.

Seunghoon cast , giving Lolo09 one final burst of speed.

One last shot.

[Lolo09 has slain an enemy.]

[Quadra Kill!]

The battlefield fell quiet, broken only by the trembling growl of the Magical Turtle, now low on health and barely moving.

"Huh? Where's the enemy's jungle? Why are they contesting this turtle if he's not even here?" Seunghoon frowned when he realized it.

He shook his head and sighed.

[Your team has slain the Magical Turtle.]

Seunghoon let out another long breath, heart still pounding.
