Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 7: The Zombie Parade

The HQ

The sun dipped behind a thick wall of clouds. Smoke rose from distant buildings. Metro City's eastern sector had turned eerily quiet – too quiet.

At HQ, a news broadcast flashed on screen.

Reporter (on screen):

"An unknown force is marching through the ruins of Rubble Square. Eyewitnesses claim… the zombies aren't attacking – they're walking in sync."

Zara (eyes narrowing):

"They're organized. That's… not normal."

Hridoy (typing furiously):

"Drone feeds confirm it. They're moving like soldiers. This isn't random. It's a parade."

Siddik (leaning forward):

"No virus makes them move like that. This is manipulation. Commanded behavior."

Fakhrul (calm but firm):

"We're moving out. HUNTERS, gear up. We hold the line at Rubble Square."

Arrival at Rubble Square

The team stepped onto the cracked tiles of the forgotten celebration ground. Where festivals once thrived, nightmare now marched.

Hundreds of zombies, dressed in the remains of parade uniforms – moved in perfect unison. Brass instruments dragged behind them. Drums pounded with no hands. Their eyes glowed faintly red.

Kawser (loading his shotgun):

"This is like a horror film scored by a dead marching band."

Tayeb (quietly, scanning the horizon):

"This feels wrong. Even the air's afraid of them."

Rasel (watching them carefully):

"Weirdest thing I've ever seen… and that says a lot."

Fakhrul:

"They pass this square – the city's done. We end this here."

The Charge Begins

The zombies froze mid-step.

Their heads turned in unison toward the team – and they screamed.

A thunderous wave of undead sprinted forward.

Zara:

"They're coming from the underground too! They've been hiding there!"

Hridoy:

"Flanks are breached – I'm deploying aerials now!"

Tayeb (growling):

"I'll take left. They won't breach again.

He moves like a controlled storm, crushing undead with brutal efficiency, but staying in control – no rage this time.

The square lit up with explosions. The battle turned chaotic:

Fakhrul smashed through zombie lines like a battering ram. Rasel dashed with acrobatic precision, blades slicing through limbs. Kawser danced around the chaos, blasting with rhythmic violence. Hridoy's drones buzzed above, raining calculated support fire. Zara set off perfectly timing mines, thinning clusters.

Kawser (laughing):

"This parade's got rhythm! Too bad it's their funeral song!"

The Turning Point

Even with hundreds down, more kept coming – almost regenerating.

Zara:

"They're not slowing! We need something big!"

Fakhrul (turning to Siddik):

"Now would be a great time for one of your surprises."

Siddik (calmly steps forward):

"You always doubt my timing."

From beneath his coat, he reveals a sleek, tech-armored gauntlet, lined with glowing blue circuits."

Rasel (raising an eyebrow):

"Okay… what the hell is that?"

Siddik (smirking):

"Something I call… Gravcore."

Tayeb (watching closely, impressed):

"I've seen weapons. That's something else."

He slams his fist to the ground – a pulse rips out.

Nearby zombies freeze, their implants and metals yanked outward, collapsing under magnetic pressure.

Kawser (amazed):

"Oh, I want one. I need one!"

Siddik:

"Earn it."

Siddik's Gauntlet Unleashed

Siddik charges in, every punch amplified by the gauntlet:

Pulling zombies toward him with gravitational force. Sending shockwave punches through thick skulls. Launching energy bursts that tear through the swarm.

Zara (wide-eyed):

"He's not just fighting… he's controlling space itself."

Hridoy (monitoring readings):

"That makes him the 'Master of Weapons!' That gauntlet is rewriting battlefield physics!"

The team regains control of the fight – working in seamless coordination.

Rasel and Fakhrul protect Siddik's flanks. Zara calculates movement with deadly precision. Kawser supports with sniper-like accuracy. Hridoy coordinates backup strikes via comms. Tayeb defends Zara when a group of zombies almost overwhelm her flank.

Zara (breathless):

"Thanks."

Tayeb (brief nod):

"I owe you one."

The Final Enemy

Suddenly, the remaining undead begin to merge. Twisted limbs, heads, and torsos knit together – forming a grotesque zombie titan.

Fakhrul:

"Formation! This one's ours!"

They engage:

Kawser lures it into traps. Zara detonates charges to soften it. Hridoy weakens its sensors with shock rounds. Fakhrul drives his blade into its core. Rasel disables its legs. Tayeb charges in beside Rasel to disable the titan's leg.

Tayeb:

"Hit the joints. It's all holding with muscle tension."

Rasel (grinning):

Didn't peg you for a biologist."

Tayeb:

I'm a fast learner."

Siddik steps in, charging his gauntlet to maximum - and punches straight through titan's face.

BOOM. The beast collapses.

Aftermath

Ashes fall. The team, bloodied but victorious, watches the last embers fade.

Back at HQ, the news headline flashes:

"Mysterious Team Ends Zombie Parade. Public Now Calls Them: HUNTERS."

Zara:

"I guess we're official now."

Rasel (to Siddik):

"You earned some respect today, tech wizard. Oh sorry, Dr. Doom."

Tayeb (to the group):

"We faced wall. We didn't break. We are the answer."

Hridoy:

"We all did."

Fakhrul:

"This is who we are now… HUNTERS."

Official Recognition

Later that night, General Najmul arrives at HQ with troops. He stands proudly before the HUNTERS.

General Najmul:

"You held the tunnels. Saved the city. HUNTERS, you've earned more than medals – You've earned the trust of a nation."

He walks over and clasps Fakhrul's hand.

General Najmul (to Fakhrul):

"My old friend… you built a team that makes legends look small. I am happy that you made Hridoy back to his deserved place. What's your team name stands for?"

Fakhrul:

"We bleed together. We survive together. We are the 'Heroic Unit for Neutralization Tactics Elimination Recon Strategy.' In short, The HUNTERS."

The team stands together, victorious, exhausted, and stronger than ever.
