We didn't always have powers. By "we," I mean the whole world. We were normal—no powers, no mutations. Just... human.
Until a scientist named Luka caused a chemical reaction that exploded, and the toxins spread so quickly that, by the end of the year, it had spread all over the world... Thanks to him, we are how we are now. Though some people were able to resist the fumes that the chemical spread, which also means that the person's generation won't have powers unless a family member dates or marries someone with powers. That child they have will gain powers, but alas, they will be weak.
We call these powers Spectra. I live in Celestia Springs, a small town in California. It's rather recent—it was built after the chemical's fumes died down two years later. After all, the fumes destroyed everything but humans. Maybe that was Luka's intention. Who knows.
Just for you to picture me better: I have black hair with red and dark purple highlights. I have blue eyes with red pupils. My hair reaches my knees—also, it's a mission to maintain, but it's worth it. I have a casual aesthetic, but it doesn't matter anyways.
