Chapter 7 - Shoot the God of Thunder

When the System told him he could get everything with System Coins, it wasn't lying.

First, there were the conversions to different currencies, something he would surely use when he left this place, but they were the least important thing right now.

In the System, there were healing and poisonous potions, weapons, weapon upgrades, battle techniques, and much more.

"I can even buy Stat Point Packs." He was in shock, as packs of 10 and 100 points were available to him right now.

Although they were too expensive even to consider buying.

The 10-point ones were 'affordable' but still cost hundreds of thousands, while the 100-point ones were already in the millions.

'No good. Too expensive,' he complained, although he understood why they were so expensive.

While he was immersed in this, he also discovered skills, training rooms, mansions, castles, and numerous other resources that could be useful in the future.

There was such a wide variety, but everything seemed to be centered around the Armamentalists.

Among so many things that seemed meaningless, he was attracted to the Weapon Upgrades.

Several levels improve by 20%, 50%, 60%, 90%, and 100%. They seem to enhance quality and durability, while also boosting accuracy, and potentially granting it an attribute.

There was also an example with his weapon.

If he purchased the 50% upgrade or higher, he had the chance to randomly obtain a magical attribute for the weapon.

According to the explanation of the 100% upgrade, he had the opportunity to choose between two attributes that the weapon could possess.

'It's like an RPG game,' he thought.

The similarities reminded him of several RPGs he had played throughout his life, making him feel like a child exploring a new place. It was so beautiful that he didn't want to stop looking at it, but suddenly he was startled and jumped to the side, sensing a presence near him.

He grabbed his weapon and squeezed it, aiming quickly.

"London Lockward," he said, looking at his father with intense rage inside him.

London was standing by the window, looking at him mockingly.

"You don't call me father anymore?"

"Heh. You're not worthy of hearing those words come out of my mouth."

"Oh." London was surprised by his response, but then he shrugged and looked at the gun in Louis's hand.

"An Armamentalist with Lockward blood, huh. This is the first time I've seen something like this. It seems you've forgotten that our Clan does not accept firearms. They are useless."

Louis looked at his weapon for a moment. It would likely be the weapon he would use for the rest of his life, considering its supreme quality and the amazing material it was made of. Therefore, the fact that it was so despised did not sit well with him, as he considered it a precious weapon.

As he thought this, he felt the urge to shoot his father.

But he knew that doing so just for the sake of it would be suicide. So, he tried to suppress his intense desire to shoot him, but...

[New Mission]

[Shoot the God of Thunder]

| Mission Requirements: Shoot the God of Thunder once.

| Previous Reward: 100 System Coins.

| New Reward: 1,000 System Coins.

| Failure does not result in any penalty.

[Good luck, don't die]

Louis was shocked when he read it.

'Has the system gone crazy?'

It was as if the system wanted him dead. But then he realized that it wasn't the system's fault, it was his.

'Oh... Now that I think about it. Thinking about something I want to do usually triggers missions. Is that how I create them?'

He sighed, realizing that he had to control his thoughts when around people he didn't want to offend.

Now the question was whether he would complete this mission or not...

He didn't need to think about it much when he saw the reward.

'A thousand coins? Isn't that 100 stat points right off the bat? Of course, I'll do it!'

The thing was, he needed an excuse...

'Oh. Right. I've got it.' He smiled and looked at his father again.

"If you want to expel me, that's fine, I've already accepted it. But since you say my weapon is useless, would you like to test its power now? The next time I see you, you won't have the chance to try it. As the God of Thunder, I don't think you'd be against that."

"Hahahaha." London laughed out loud, as if he had found a very funny joke.

Seconds later, he stopped and nodded, his arms opening.

"Fine. Fire as many bullets as you want. If you manage to penetrate even 10 millimeters of my natural barrier, I will issue an order, swallowing my pride and face, to allow you to use the Clan's surname. Go ahead, if you do, I will restore your dignity." His air of grandeur revealed how difficult that was.

It wasn't just difficult, it was downright impossible.

But Louis smiled.

"Even if I manage to do it, I don't want to return to your clan. The day I do, your head will be under my feet."

Then he looked at his revolver.

'Let me test your power then, little gun.'

As he aimed at his father's head, he squeezed the silver trigger of his beautiful weapon, transmitting a portion of his Passive Energy into it, the amount required to fire the shot.

The amount is also required to activate his ability.

*PAM*

The sound of the shot was soft and elegant, but powerful.

Then a golden bullet shot out at high speed toward London's head, seemingly surrounded by magical elements resembling fire.

Although to his eyes it was so slow that it made no sense to even look at it.

So he did nothing, simply letting it advance, and soon it reached the limit of his natural barrier, where almost imperceptible rays moved to protect him continuously. This radius extended 2 meters around his body.

Despite the firearm's firing power, it disintegrated into tiny particles as soon as it reached the vicinity and couldn't advance a single millimeter further.

Louis nodded. 'Breaking through its natural barrier is impossible with my current strength.'

The system announced that he had completed his mission at that moment, and 100 stat points were added to his available balance.

He looked at them temptingly.

'Increase strength by 10 points,' he thought, immediately adding 10 points to this attribute.

Even though he could add 100, he didn't know if that shot would break through London's barrier, so he didn't want to risk it. Now that he had been expelled, they could dream of taking him back to the Clan!

His pride would not allow it.

When the points were added, he finally fired again with greater accuracy. This time, the force was astonishing, increasing the previous firing power by an incredible three times.

Even so, it wasn't too different from the previous one. It reached the vicinity and also disintegrated without leaving a trace.

Even so, it surprised London.

'Was it several times stronger than the previous one?' he thought, in a state of shock.

But when he reacted, Louis had already turned around.

He put his weapon back in its case and then grabbed a bearskin coat that was resting on a wooden pedestal.

Then he walked to the door.

"Now you expel me, now I'm leaving. But wherever I go, my Class will accompany me. In the future, I hope you don't regret the decision you made today. Because then, I hope you'll be worthy of a shot from my gun. Good luck in your life, father."

His final words were laced with a strange, sententious mockery, but also with a strange loneliness.
