As the system was getting ready to analyze.
Meanwhile, on the arena ground, Instructor David called out,
"Who is Amir? Step forward to test your ability."
Immediately, a creature with the head of a dog stepped up.
Seeing this, Instructor David said,
"So you're Amir. What's your ability?"
The dog-headed being replied,
"Sir, my ability is wind magic. I can fire wind arrows."
Hearing this, David responded, "Alright then, hit the target 500 meters away with full force."
"Okay, sir."
After speaking, Amir took his stance and began chanting words to unleash his wind arrow.
Outside the arena, Chen Lee watched quietly as he was deeply fascinated by this world's version of magic. Soon, he saw a wind arrow shoot out from the dog-headed Amir. It whipped up a strong gust and stirred dust all around the arena.
While the crowd groaned at the sudden dust storm, the arrow had already slammed into the target with a thunderous bang.
Once the dust settled, then only everyone saw clearly the target had been completely destroyed. But the instructor, being a powerful figure, had observed everything from the beginning without flinching.
Immediately Instructor David said, "Okay, you barely passed the test. You're at entry-level F strength."
Outside the arena, in Chen Lee's mind, a mechanical voice echoed,
"Ding. Host, it appears that Amir has around 12,300 combat power."
"So F-level already starts at around 12,300 combat power? That's pretty high compared to early stages of my favorite anime,"
Chen Lee thought.
"Seems like my assumption of destroying one-hundredth of this world with my over a million combat power was wrong."
"Host, you missed a crucial detail," the system replied. "Here, particles are a thousand times stronger and celestial things like planets are larger too. Based on my rough calculations, your 1.25 million combat power is equal to just 1,250 in your previous world. A thousand-fold reduction in the power scale. So with 1 billion combat power you could only destroy previous size earth like planet in this universe but here planets are also much larger than your previous world too. "
"Looks like I'll need to gather a lot more energy to become truly powerful here."
Meanwhile, the instructor continued calling up participants one by one. The next person had a combat power of 17,500 and still received an F-level rating.
Then, a young female elf stepped forward to test her strength. She swiftly summoned a massive fireball above her head. Fortunately, the arena was enchanted, or the crowd would've been overwhelmed by the heat. Soon, she hurled the fireball at a heavily enchanted zone.
A loud explosion rang out, and the ground trembled for a full minute. Thankfully, no one was harmed.
Instructor David nodded and said,
"Good. You have D-level strength. You passed. Now head to the guild building to receive your identity card."
The system chimed in, "Host, she has 112,500 combat power."
Chen Lee was genuinely impressed and muttered, "Looks like I need to tread carefully. If 100,000 is just D-level, then what would be the combat power of hidden SSS-level creatures in this world. Luckily, they don't have super senses . Otherwise, I might've been exposed long ago. So I need to stay low-key."
Then he suddenly thought of something and asked, "System, why you're only calculating firepower? Can't you directly detect someone's actual combat power? What if they're hiding it?"
The system answered, "Host, it's not that I can't. You just need to upgrade me to Level 2 for that. And it requires 1 trillion dark energy which is impossible to collect for now. Moreover, I rely mostly on visual analysis for current calculations. But to accurately measure someone's true strength, I need to scan their body using dark energy, which requires the upgrade."
"Alright, System. How much dark energy do I have left?"
"Host, you've drained the last 150 million units of dark energy from this solar system. You can extract more, but it might destabilize space. Alternatively, you can wait for natural recovery—or travel to other spaces, which is the fastest way."
"Alright then, I'll consider that later. For now, my strength should be enough."
As he was having internal discussion with the system, in the arena more people continued their tests, but none crossed 100,000 combat power or reached D-level. Soon noon came and all 35 candidates had completed their trials. Among them ,seven even failed entirely.
From observing this combat test, Chen Lee also learned the power rankings up to D-level:
F-level = 10,000 to 39,999
E-level = 40,000 to 99,999
D-level = 100,000 and above
Though the upper limit of D-level was still unknown.
As the crowd began to disperse, Chen Lee also made his way back into the lively streets as he planned to visit the black market to get his fake identity, just in case his current identity as Shahjahan was compromised. He also considered moving to another city if needed.
So he started walking towards the yesterday's tavern.
