Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: A Deteriorating Atmosphere

He wore a handcrafted branded suit, with a finely crafted golden brooch pinned at the collar.

His soft brown hair fell naturally, and his deep, obsidian eyes along with his sharply defined and handsome face gave off the aura of an aloof nobleman.

Despite his seemingly proud demeanor, the ever-present gentle smile on his face softened that distance and made him seem warm and approachable.

"I'll be relying on everyone here to take good care of Asia."

He gave Asia a light push on the back, nudging the shy girl standing beside him forward.

"Um… P-please take care of me," she said, still a bit bashful, but managing to introduce herself decently.

She was no longer afraid, even in a room full of devils.

After spending time with Koneko that morning, she was now firmly convinced that many devils were good people too.

"So… so cute!"

The crowd of devil servants fell silent for a moment, until a bright-eyed reincarnated devil with silver-white hair in the back finally broke the silence.

"Please… please leave her to me!"

The one speaking was Momo Hanakai, a servant of Sona.

Perhaps Vitan's kind demeanor had washed away the strict image that Tsubaki had just tried to instill.

This naturally energetic girl instantly forgot everything Tsubaki had told her earlier, and eagerly approached Vitan.

"What's your name?" Vitan asked playfully.

"Hanakai Momo! I'm the Student Council President's Bishop."

Unfazed, Momo introduced herself casually while her gaze kept drifting toward Asia.

With Momo receiving such a warm welcome from Vitan, Sona's and Rias's other servants quickly understood—this noble heir was someone very much like their own masters.

There was no longer anything to fear. The tense atmosphere quickly melted away, and the banquet started to liven up.

"Thank you for your guidance!"

In front of the main seat, Kiba Yuuto bowed respectfully to Vitan.

Following Kiba's example, the area around Vitan soon turned lively, as everyone began eagerly asking him questions they had never had the chance to ask before.

After all, opportunities like this didn't come often.

Even the usually silent werewolf Ruger followed Kiba's lead, asking Vitan about hand-to-hand combat techniques.

Everyone was impressed by Vitan's deep well of knowledge.

But this was to be expected.

After all, the Asmodeus family inherited the bloodline of the original Satan Asmodeus—one of the very first devils of the Underworld.

The wealth of texts and lore they possessed was incomparable to that of even the pureblood noble families like the Gremorys or the Sitris.

"My, my! It seems you've already blended right in with the servants."

Wearing towering 10-centimeter heels, Rias gracefully approached Vitan and sat beside him with practiced ease.

The distance between them was barely five or six centimeters.

A soft, sweet natural fragrance wafted over to Vitan's nose—not perfume, but Rias's own scent.

From this angle, even a slight movement could easily bring his body into contact with Rias's delicate figure.

Still, he had no interest in such crude gestures.

"Indeed. I really appreciate your leniency toward the children."

As Rias sat down, Sona also walked over holding her wine glass, stopping directly in front of Vitan.

Expecting Sona to behave like Rias would be unrealistic—she was always cold and composed.

"It's nothing. This is a banquet, after all. Everyone should speak freely—that's what makes it enjoyable."

He raised his glass and took a sip of the aromatic wine.

Rias and Sona both followed suit, sipping their red wine elegantly.

"And besides, it's nothing important. There's no harm in sharing such things. You've shown such kindness and warmth that the children aren't so nervous anymore. For that, I must thank you."

Perhaps a bit stubborn, Sona insisted on expressing her gratitude even though Vitan had already downplayed it.

"My, Sona, there's no need to be so formal. Vitan-san really is that kind of person. Otherwise, the infirmary wouldn't have been so busy this afternoon. And those girls coming back all had dreamy looks in their eyes."

Rias rested her chin in her hand with a sigh.

She had anticipated something like this might happen—but she hadn't expected it to be this intense.

Then again, this proved one thing quite clearly—

When girls become flirty, they're not all that different from boys.

"Speaking of that, tomorrow I'll properly rectify this unhealthy atmosphere. I won't let them keep bothering you."

It would've been better if Rias hadn't brought it up, but once she did, Sona's brows inevitably furrowed.

If it were just a normal medical consultation, Sona wouldn't have said much.

But those female students clearly had impure motives and were disturbing the normal order of the school.

And as the student council president of Kuoh Academy, in other words, the ruler of this domain, the students were akin to her citizens.

Her own citizens behaving so improperly reflected her failure as their ruler.

"Oh my! Sona, if you're like this, you'll kill the mood for Vitan-san."

Lying lazily on the sofa, Rias smiled sweetly at Sona.

"Killing the mood?"

Sona looked at Rias incredulously. She really didn't understand where that line came from.

"Of course. A group of youthful high school girls acting all sweet while going to the infirmary—what doctor wouldn't enjoy that kind of attention? Plus, those girls are offering benefits willingly."

Rias casually lifted her other arm, propping her smooth chin up with one hand as she spoke nonchalantly.

"But Vitan-san didn't show any interest in their bold offers."

Sona had known about the commotion in the afternoon very early on.

However, it was clear that those girls had volunteered to throw themselves at him, and Vitan didn't use any kind of magic to attract them.

So, she had no grounds to intervene!

Therefore, she let those girls act as they pleased for the entire afternoon without imposing any restrictions.
