Kelly had never been so hopeless. Time was nothing short of torture. Even the presence of Lia did not help ease the pain within her. But news soon came when she least expected it.
She sat inside, and outside, she heard the lock click. Then the door creaked open.
Kelly wasted no time getting to her feet, and before her was Masha. He was a mess; his blood-stained armor was enough news.
"I am sorry," Masha said, his eyes buried in the ground, unable to face Kelly.
"Why?" Kelly asked, her body trembling.
"I vowed to follow my alpha, protect my land... I followed my duties," Masha murmured.
Kelly couldn't hold back her tears. Never had she imagined a day like this would come.
"I killed them... he couldn't hold back; he killed my people," Kelly laughed, her body shaking with every sob. "They helped him; they were there when he needed support and protection, and this is how they get paid?" she yelled, but Masha had no answers.
